August is only a couple of short months away, and we all know what that means in regards to the Asian market. Over the past few days quite a number of products have started showing up across the web, and while I’ll refrain from linking to specific auctions, I did want to mirror the updated images and point out that these all come courtesy of The Terror Drome. To date, we’ve got some nice pictures of Pursuit of Cobra City Strike Beachhead, Jungle Assault Duke, Desert Battle Storm Shadow, and G.I. Joe: Resolute Scarlett and Baroness.
In the past I’ve jumped on some of these auctions pretty quickly, to be totally honest. But so far, I’m holding myself back on this initial batch. I grabbed Spirit pretty quickly when he appeared a couple of weeks back, but I’m just having a hard time pulling the trigger on $20 a pop when they should be hitting retail in about 6 – 8 weeks. The really weird thing is, for the Rise of Cobra figures, which were pretty inferior, all told, I was jumping on them pretty quick. But for these much better figures, I can’t bring myself to do it, at least not yet. Is it because of the price jump, which is admittedly, pretty small? Or is it my strong, iron clad moral core? Yeah, definitely not that.
Check out some of the images mirrored below.

Yes, August is a good two months away, but the Pursuit of Cobra images are flying in, this time from Troynos over at HissTank.com. In all honesty, two of my least anticipated figures coming up are the Desert Battle Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow, but these new images have made them appealing, at least from an accessory standpoint.
Snake Eyes looks really cool in the colors shown here (even though they’re pre-production), and Storm Shadow’s accessories are sick. I love the way they all connect together and can create different combinations. That cross-sword sheath is very cool, too!
The name of the game with the Pursuit of Cobra seems to be accessorize! And so far, pretty much every figure has done it exceptionally well. Even figures that aren’t all that appealing to me have enough cool gear to make it worth while. Very nice. Images are mirrored below.

You would think with the internet, the purveillance of the overseas gray market sellers, and the resources at our disposal, there wouldn’t be much out there that we haven’t at least gotten a sniff of by now. Well, the Terror Drome has dug up a pair of figures that really haven’t been on anyone’s radar. Most likely cancelled figures from the Rise of Cobra line (at least the one with the Reactive Armor vest), we have two figures that may or may not be more Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow updates that folks hadn’t heard of.
The original sightings come from TaoBao, and comes via ilovesw, a seller that has been around the block a number of times.
While the figures themselves don’t offer a whole lot of cool, new excitement, it’s always pretty neat catching a glimpse of “what might have been”. Who knows, these may end up seeing release down the road somewhere. With how much Hasbro is distancing themselves from the Rise of Cobra, I strongly doubt the figure with the reactive armor will see release, especially because Hasbro already announced the cancellation of Training Duke, who shares many of the same parts.
Time will tell, I suppose.

Remember a few days ago when I mentioned that it looked like the floodgates might be opening? Well, they’re still open, and Gyre-Viper is there collecting it all. He posted a few updates at HissTank here and here with some very cool pictures of upcoming items, and cancelled items.
I’m especially loving that Alley-Viper. LOVE the fact that he has the Resolute headgear as well as the more standard stuff. Very cool looking items here. Three more weeks from today and we should be seeing a lot more at JoeCon. Check out the mirrored images below, and once again, a huge thanks to Gyre-Viper for keeping the “dead time” between toy releases fairly eventful.

Although they don’t really nail down a source for the information, Korean rumor site allkpop.com is reporting that Byung-Hun Lee is slated to have a much larger role in upcoming G.I. Joe sequels, according to their sources at Paramount.
Somewhat buried within the article as well, it’s reported that “…Filming for the sequel is scheduled to begin in August with a pending 2012 release.”
Again, no reports about where the source of this information is coming from, but it certainly looks like things are moving full steam ahead.
