Although they don’t really nail down a source for the information, Korean rumor site allkpop.com is reporting that Byung-Hun Lee is slated to have a much larger role in upcoming G.I. Joe sequels, according to their sources at Paramount.
Somewhat buried within the article as well, it’s reported that “…Filming for the sequel is scheduled to begin in August with a pending 2012 release.”
Again, no reports about where the source of this information is coming from, but it certainly looks like things are moving full steam ahead.
They should have Rain (from the movie “Ninja Assassin”) play Storm Shadow! (probably too late to change) By the way, I heard Gi Joe was in the nominations for a Razzie award (years worst movie).
Yeah, Storm Shadow suffered the standard movie style obscure death; I figured we’d get to see him again. And heck, you don’t kill off your money makers!
Here’s the English source via the Korea Times, numerous articles have been in Korean instead
Lee Byung-hun to Star in ‘G.I. Joe’ Sequel

by the way.. what’s with this Rain guy anyways.. he already had his own Ninja Assassin but still wanted to be on another actor’s work. It’s not like he was in The Rise of Cobra that earned Storm Shadow a bigger role in the sequel. What a pathetic Rain, shameless. So what if GI Joe was nominated in the Razzie Awards.. it still made a whole lot more money than NA.
Good news…if true. Storm Shadow and evil Baroness were the only reasons to even watch the first one. Well….and Zartan. By the end 2 of the 3 elements I enjoyed in the movie had been neutralized. Hopefully all three take the spotlight in the second film. After all, your movie is only as good as your antagonist(s), and CC and Destro sure didn’t do it for me the first time around.
Storm Shadow was one of the best things in the movie; he should definitely have a bigger part next time around… PLEASE take some of Chatum’s screen time!
