Another Thursday, and another episode of G.I. Joe: Renegades posted to Hubworld.com!
This time around we get Destro in all of his metal-headed glory, along with a particularly meaty looking Scrap Iron. This episode really sets the stage for the Cobra hierarchy going forward as well. Check it out in great quality right here.
As always, make sure to keep up to date with the Renegades intel at my Renegades Supersite, and specifically the Episode Synopsis!
This series has been a whole hell of a lot of fun.
While I will admit the stop motion was a bit rough at some earlier parts of VisorHUNgary’s work, he has absolutely hit his stride, and this latest stuff is really great. He has posted the latest installment of his Rise of Cobra era stop motion animation on YouTube. I am amazed at how well he does this. Some great special effects, seamless animation. Pure excellence.
His latest installment in “G.I. Joe: Cobra 3” is Chapter 3, but I’m embedding parts 1 – 3 just so you don’t miss anything. Impressive. Keep in mind, this is the third part of his Cobra adventure, so you should check out his channel to watch everything you might have missed.
Please check out his full YouTube Channel as well, he’s got a bunch more great stuff there.

Just as a reminder, I will be in attendance in New York City this weekend for the Hasbro Fan Presentation in the midst of Toy Fair 2011. The event occurs Saturday at noon, and expect live tweets and on the spot reporting as quickly as possible during the chaos of room tours and running through the city looking for open WiFi.
I strongly recommend that you follow me on Twitter. That will be the first and best source of immediate reports from the show.
Once I get settled in Grand Central, I’ll start uploading pics as well. I’ll be adding a link to the drop down menu as well for Toy Fair 2011 coverage, just to keep things organized.
Toy Fair 2011 kicks off a great few months of shows with JoeCon in late March, leading up to SDCC in July. Things are officially going to start heating up!
The promised Sideshow Collectibles Production Blog came yesterday as planned and we got a full look at the Recovery at Serpent Temple Environment! The environment will retail for $199.99 and will be available for pre-order with the Sideshow Collectibles newsletter hitting February 10th.

Damn. Seems like I just posted a review for A Real American Hero #162, and here’s a five page preview for the next one! No complaints here, this series has been absolutely clicking on all cylinders lately. G.I. JOE: A REAL AMERICAN HERO # 163

DARK SNAKE EYES brings COBRA straight to The Pit, bringing the battle to G.I. JOE’s home turf. Can the Joes withstand the assault led by one of their own or will COBRA finally bring them to their knees? *2 regular covers will be shipped in a 1-to-1 ratio.

Gyre-Viper is at it again…or more appropriately, has been at it again, since he posted these images a few days ago. I hadn’t jumped on the bandwagon yet because, well…. honestly? I’m not all that wild about the Jungle B.A.T. I think it looks kind of silly, actually. Some cool attachments could save it, but if it comes with the same three attachments we’ve all seen ad infinitum, I will be severely disappointed, especially considering the Pursuit of Cobra greatness we’re currently surrounded by.
Granted, it’s part of an assortment that wasn’t supposed to exist 6 months ago, so the fact that Hasbro whipped up some repaints and filler figures to keep Joe fans interested until the real stuff hits in August is something we all have to consider. If the Jungle B.A.T. (and other figures alongside it in the early part of the year) is a bit lackluster, I wouldn’t expect that to indicate some sort of downward spiral. I think we’ll see some awesome stuff at Toy Fair, Joe Con, and SDCC.

While there is certainly no revelations in the interview, Toonzone has posted a pretty nice piece with Jeff Kline, who serves as an executive producer for both Transformers: Prime and G.I. Joe: Renegades. He touches on the creative process, fan response, and many more cool angles.
Check out the interview right here.
Excellent! For folks who have been waiting with baited breath to complete their 3 3/4″ Adventure Team line up, it looks like March will be the time that it happens. The G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club store has just posted a pre-order for their Sea Adventurer w/ Mini-Submarine. According to the listing, he’s expected to ship “Within 4 weeks of March 1, 2011”.
The Sea Adventurer joins the Adventure Team Commander, the Air Adventurer, and the Land Adventurer to round off your Adventure Team in a 3 3/4″ scale as they face off against the insidious Dr. Venom.
Pick yours up today!
I haven’t seen them spread throughout the sites yet, but we have a couple more. Coil Club has posted one right here.
Also, while the guys at JoeCustoms haven’t posted it yet, in an email, the JoeCustoms admin sent along theirs as well:
Q: Since Renegades is an origins reboot of the GI Joe mythos, how do the writers decide whether to pull from the comics, the previous cartoons, the filecards, or branch out in a new direction?
A: Most often, we first build a story around our core Joes, then bring in new characters – “Future Joes” we call them – based upon a specific need, situation, or setting. For example, if our Joes ended up in jail, there are several possible “Future Joes” whom they might meet. We consider all the source material, and try to pull the best from and/or expand upon what already exists in the G.I. JOE brand mythology.
I’ll post more as they come up! As always, keep checking my Q & A Archive for the responses as they’re posted.
