Like Sigma 6 and Xevoz? You’ll LOVE this Kickstarter!

This isn’t strictly G.I. Joe news, but I couldn’t help but talk about it, anyway.

I think we all realize that Sigma 6 as it was known is most likely a dead concept at Hasbro.  While many would celebrate that, I lament its place in the crypts, and I was really excited to find out that the spiritual founders of Sigma 6 and Xevoz are starting a new project!

The Hero Project is an endeavor from Tucker and Wayne from Dynamo Development Labs, and they were both the lifeblood of Sigma 6 and Xevoz, and you can really tell by the video shown on their Kickstarter page.  The goal of these fine gentlemen is to fund a new action figure toyline, in the 8″ scale, with body design and accessory design very familiar to Sigma 6 fans.  Pulling heroes from the annals of history, the Hero Project looks to earn some financial backing, enough to hopefully support this ambitious endeavor.

I happily pledged my money for this cause, and hope fellow Sigma 6 buffs will do the same.  Perhaps now that many Joe fans are looking in the rear view mirror and can appreciate just how revolutionary and fun the Sigma 6 line was, they can get behind this project to bring more toys in that awesome format to market.

G.I. Joe Convention 2012 – the Hasbro Diorama and Retaliation Posters

A few left over stragglers from my image onslaught over the weekend.  Set up in the middle of the Hasbro showroom at the Convention this year was quite the impressive diorama.  A double sided display with two scenes on the near side and one large mountain scene on the far side, pretty much every element of recent G.I. Joe releases were captured.  The far side brought the mountain side ninja combat into 3 dimensions, while the near side featured a Benzheen battle as well as a peek inside a Cobra base.

Some really great scenes throughout, and I took a ton of pictures.

Also included in this gallery are shots of various G.I. Joe: Retaliation posters that were scattered on display cases and the wall, many of which featured large sized artwork we had not necessarily seen, especially in such a big format.

Check out the gallery below.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation 2013 Toy SuperPage has been created

With the news and information coming out of the G.I. Joe Convention in New Orleans, I have totally revamped the G.I. Joe: Retaliation toy SuperPage to reflect the new assortments, the release dates, and updated images from the showroom floor.

If you see any obvious mistakes, please let me know as this is a work in progress and I’ve been working on this pretty late at night over the past few nights.

Ten things I took away from the 2012 G.I. Joe Convention

And no, I’m not talking about bringing home toys.  I’m talking about intangible things.  Opinions, feelings, impressions, etc…

I felt quite lucky throughout the weekend to be able to spend quite a bit of time with various folks at the Convention.  Whether it was speaking with Lanny or Brian from the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club at the Golden Ticket dinner, or speaking to Hasbro at the Charity Casino Night dinner and on the sales floor.  I was left with a series of impressions, both good and bad, and I’m not certain folks who weren’t there could grasp that through the convention coverage.

Sideshow Collectibles teases upcoming 12″ Baroness figure

This news crossed a couple of days ago, but I was in the middle of post Convention nervous breakdown so I didn’t get a chance to jump on it.  Thankfully, Jose over at Now Back to G.I. Joe is all over it, and actually posted the sneak peek!

Rumored to be revealed at San Diego ComicCon next week (alongside her chrome-domed companion) The Baroness looks striking in her skin-tight black outfit and layered armored plate.  Sideshow Collectibles designed a whole new female body for The Baroness, and it looks like we’re very close to finding out just how well it works.

Check out the mirrored image below and thanks again to TheRealJoseGon on Twitter for the peek.

Canadian JoeCon reveals the first two figures in their exclusive boxed set

With JoeCon behind us, all eyes are forward to the next big event, which takes form in the shape of the Canadian JoeCon, coming August 10th – 11th at the Sheraton in Toronto, Ontario!  The show has been running for several years, and is one of the favorite destinations of not just Canadian G.I. Joe fans, but also many domestic fans as well.  One of the highlights of the show is the super-limited edition figure boxed set, which has dominated the secondary market and thrilled Joe fans across many countries.

The Canadian JoeCon celebrated Canada Day by revealing their first figure in the set…  Traction!  Apparently a vehicle driver, Traction is also an explosives expert.  Not satisfied with one reveal, this morning, the Canadian JoeCon launched a preview for figure #2…  H.A.G.A.R.!  In a very surprising move, the Canadian JoeCon guys dipped back into the o-ring wells, using the Valor Vs. Venom B.A.T. figure with a more modern vest on top of it.  Very interesting choice.

Make sure you keep visiting JoeCanuck.com for the latest updates, and for more information on this convention, hit up CanadianJoeCon.com.  Also, you can purchase your tickets in advance, and meanwhile, take a peek at the two figures revealed below.
