G.I. Joe: Retaliation showcases a bit of the Flint/Lady Jaye romance

The MTV Movie Blog has just gotten around to posting an update from one of their Toy Fair interviews by the looks of it, and in it they talk to DJ Cotrona and Adrianne Palicki about the relationship between Flint and Lady Jaye in the movie.  From the sounds of it, the two characters have a bit of a past before we see it take shape in the film, but it continues to evolve in ways that fans should enjoy.

More video images emerge from G.I. Joe: Retaliation cast

Toy Fair is over a week past, and some video interviews are still emerging from the floor of the Hasbro showroom.  This time around, Cinema Blend talks to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Adrianne Palicki, and D.J. Cotrona.

You can check the video interviews at Cinema Blend, or look at the embedded videos below.

DJ Cotrona and Adrianne Palicki profess love for girls toys in Moviefone interview

Another day, another great interview from Mike Ryan of the Huffington Post (which is then posted on Moviefone, who is owned by AOL…  uhhh..  I give up).

Corporate weirdness aside, Mike Ryan has not been ashamed of his nerdy backgrounds throughout Toy Fair weekend, which is great for us, because I think he’s managed to get the best interviews of G.I. Joe: Retaliation cast and crew.

Unfortunately this interview apparently “wraps up” the Toy Fair coverage, but it’s another great one, as DJ Cotrona admits his feelings for the initial Rise of Cobra film, and name drops Larry Hama.

Adrianne Palicki is apparently more familiar with Jem and the Holograms than she is with Lady Jaye, but she’s a girl, we’ll let that slide.  Meanwhile, you have to check out the latest interview right here, it’s another good one, and even without any real break through information, it immediately makes me once again feel good about the direction of this film and how the stars feel about it.

Super Hero Hype posts interviews from G.I. Joe: Retaliation cast

While many of us low level fan sites were ushered out of the city after the exciting event on Saturday, the “big boys” are still lurking around talking to cast members from G.I. Joe: Retaliation.  ComingSoon.net was among those sites, and they’ve posted a few video interviews on SuperHeroHype.com!  Check out the interviews below and some interesting snippets from each.

Thanks much to Ghost Man for the heads up.

Also try to ignore the ComingSoon dude who calls the film G.I. Joe: Retribution.  Good thing they let those guys get the good interviews and not us folks who don’t know what we’re doing, huh?

Adrianne Palicki talks G.I. Joe: Retaliation with MTV

The well of G.I. Joe: Retaliation news has been a bit dry over the past few weeks since the trailer, so undoubtedly I want to jump on every little tidbit I see.  The folks over at MTV had a chance to talk with Adrianne Palicki, who is playing Lady Jaye in the upcoming G.I. Joe motion picture sequel, and she seems pretty jazzed about being the middle of the G.I. Joe fracas.

Speaking about the G.I. Joe: Retaliation trailer, Ms. Palicki says

“It was a pleasant surprise, because this is a reboot. It’s scary going into the shoes that have already been worn. We wanted to do something really unique and special. With such an amazing group of talented actors, you don’t want it to fall flat. How many people reached out, it’s unbelievable to hear the comments that they’re so excited, that the trailer is better than the first movie was. Just really cool reactions that you’re going, “OK, hopefully we don’t let you down.” I really don’t think we will. I think it’s going to be a really fun ride for everybody.”

Well, technically it’s not a reboot, but we’ll give her a pass on that one.  If anyone had any doubts about the enthusiasm and energy that Jon Chu brought to the table, Palicki puts those to rest as well:

“Jon Chu, he’s this genius. The thing that’s so special about him is that he might be the biggest G.I. Joe fan on the planet, so that really came in our favor. He’s young and interesting and full of ambition. We really did things that were super exciting and super scary, and I really feel everything’s going to come out really, really well.”

I’m very impressed with how the cast members appear to be handling this film.  For The Rise of Cobra, there seemed to be many allusions to a more “goofy” era of G.I. Joe, but I sense a bit more hard-edged and gritty realism here.  Much more of a traditional action film.  I think that’s a good place to be as we come in on the good side of six months from the film’s debut.

Check out these comments and many more over at MTV.com.  G.I. Joe: Retaliation hits US theaters June 29th, 2012.
