Pictures and a nice review of “Battle Damage” Storm Shadow

Smokescreen over on one-18th.com has obtained a pre-production version of a mysterious “battle damaged” Storm Shadow, rumored to be “Arctic Assault”.  It’s quite an interesting looking figure, with a torn tunic, slices throughout his torso and some very strange oversized gauntlets.  Whatever the ultimate destination, the figure rocks, I can’t wait to pick it up on store shelves, in whatever capacity it comes.  Check out the full review here, and take a peek at the images mirrored below.

The Sigma 6 Celebration is coming…

I know there aren’t many Sigma 6 fans around, but I’m hoping those of you who don’t like that particular branch of the G.I. Joe mythos will still check out the “Celebration” running here on GeneralsJoes all next week!  There will be custom showcases, artwork, images, cartoon information, interviews, etc…  just lots of content based on everyone’s (not so) favorite eight inch toyline.

I totally understand why much of the fandom has issues with Sigma 6, but I loved it, and I wanted to take a week to show that even with the larger scale and the animated style, there was still stuff to love about it.

Starting Monday, June 8th, the Sigma 6 Celebration will run all week long (straight through til Sunday, June 13th).  Of course there will still be an influx of other news and information for whatever you’re into, but for Sigma 6 fans (or even folks who want to read some interesting stuff, no matter what it’s based on) Monday should hopefully start a fun walk down memory lane.  Hope you enjoy it!

Rise of COBRA pre-order exclusive info?

Vanishing Point from JoeBattleLines is reporting that both GameCrazy and GameStop will be having pre-order exclusives for G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA.  This is what he’s reporting:

  • GameCrazy.com will have a “classic Scarlett skin” including the kevlar body suit with leather gloves, boots and leotard, red marksman pad.
  • GameStop.com will have a “classic Duke skin” as well as an exclusive comic book.

While I haven’t been able to confirm anything with GameCrazy as of yet, a visit to GameStop.com reveals this information:

“YO JOE! Reserve G.I. JOE The Rise of Cobra and receive an exclusive 22-page limited edition collectible comic book with pull out poster and the unlock code for the classic uniform for Conrad “DUKE” Hauser. Available for online and in-store customers while supplies last.

Online / In-Store Pickup Customers: Exclusive comic book and code to unlock Duke’s uniform will be shipped with the game.

Store Customers: Exclusive comic book and code to unlock Duke’s uniform will be available at time of reservation.”

Big thanks to Vanishing Point for the information!

Botcon is over… let the JoeCon excitement commence!

Okay, some folks will probably think this sounds a bit disingenuous, since I’ve been sort of talking down the convention set this year with the switch to an Anniversary style, but more importantly the apparent lack of new concepts.  However, just because I’m a bit disappointed in the convention offering doesn’t mean I’m down on the Convention as a whole.  There is much more to the Convention experience than simply the toys being sold there…  and yes, even though I’m not wild about the 25th format change, I still think it’s a whole lot of fun to hypothosize what we might be getting for our attende exclusives.  Here’s what we know so far:

Some new comparison shots of SDCC Destro’s on HissTank.com

hisstank_sdcc_destroGyre-Viper of the HissTank forums has taken some pictures of the upcoming SDCC Exclusive Destro figures and posted them online at HissTank.com.  The images show some nice detail, and I especially love the 3-piece suit on James McCullen…it was done exceptionally well.  I can’t wait to see what a Tomax and Xamot head look on it, not to mention the potential for future Dr. Venom customs.

Great stuff from Hasbro, especially for an exclusive.  I’m going to try like hell to get me some of this!
