Channing Tatum has been doing the rounds promoting his latest film, Dear John, and of course, as expected, has been getting numerous questions regarding G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, the potential sequel, and even the Razzie nominations that the film earned.
In a short interview with New York Magazine, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra’s “Duke” had the following to say:
“Is it hard to show your face here at the iconic Chinese Theater to shill your new film on the same day your last film was bestowed with the shame of six Razzie nods?
Whoa. Cool. Did G.I. Joe win any? Was I nominated for Worst Actor?
Afraid not. You were locked out by a bunch of aging comics and the Jonas Brothers.
That was probably a close one, but it’s hard to compete with those heartthrobs.
Your co-stars Sienna Miller and Marlon Wayans were not so lucky.
Marlon’s Razzie for Little Man is his most prized trophy. I kid you not. He’s probably thrilled. Besides, when you do a movie like [G.I. Joe], you aren’t trying to break any ground. You just want kids and grown-ups who remember the cartoon to go see it, love it, and have a good time watching shit get blown up. And we did good business anyway. There is talk of a sequel. I know they hired a writer, so I’m crossing fingers”
Along with print interviews, he also sat down in front of a camera for Hollywood.com and showed some enthusiasm for the upcoming sequel and even made mention of Cobra Island! Check out that video below:
Although they don’t really nail down a source for the information, Korean rumor site allkpop.com is reporting that Byung-Hun Lee is slated to have a much larger role in upcoming G.I. Joe sequels, according to their sources at Paramount.
Somewhat buried within the article as well, it’s reported that “…Filming for the sequel is scheduled to begin in August with a pending 2012 release.”
Again, no reports about where the source of this information is coming from, but it certainly looks like things are moving full steam ahead.
A few months ago I reviewed an excellent new action figure display system called the Apex Action Figure and Collectible Display Case. Well, this thing is catching on, and they’re now being offered from ActionFigureDisplayCase.com.
Owned and operated by well known and reputable G.I. Joe reseller, SmallJoes.com, the Apex Display Cases will fit a variety of different sized and scaled action figures and vehicles. Check out the site, and my review and see for yourself!
For the past several months, popular online G.I. Joe archive site The Joe Index has been offline due to issues with their webhost. Well, I’m happy to report that the Joe Index is back online, under a new banner, now as TheGIJoeIndex.com.
While not quite complete, there is a wealth of great information with pictures, listings, year by year organization and a very unique interface. If you’ve been a fan of the site and have been missing it, you can now add it back to your favorites! If you haven’t checked it out, take this chance to do so, it’s another great resource.

There have been several scattered stories about this week already concerning IDW’s G.I. Joe titles, but instead of spending all sorts of real estate talking about each one individually, I figured I’d recap a bit.
Last, but not least, IDW has announced that G.I. Joe: COBRA II #1 has sold out at retail! They are currently working on issuing a second printing, with a special exclusive cover…check out the full press release after the jump!

After a somewhat tumultuous few days, The G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club has posted the official brochure for the upcoming 2010 G.I. Joe Collectors’ Convention in Providence, Rhode Island. Lots of exciting news is contained within the brochure, including confirmation of a 15-figure Red Shadows exclusive set! The set is confirmed to contain the following:
The set, entitled “Vacation in the Shadows” also promises to include a character seen for the first time in 3 3/4″ scale. Along with the figure set, the Collectors’ Club also has announced part of the convention package includes an exclusive Hasbro Tour for the first 400 registered convention goers! 100 more tickets will be raffled off as well, for a total of 500 tour members.
Hit up GIJoeCon.com to check out the Brochure, and to print out the Registration Form.
The TRU Exclusives are indeed hitting hot and heavy over the past few weeks, and the Terror Drome is staying right on top of it, with three reviews posted for Arctic Threat Doc, Arctic Threat Shipwreck, and the Sting Raider w/ Copperhead and Swamp-Viper. I will be posting my own review (courtesy of Mysterious Stranger) later today of the Sting Raider, but here are some mirrored images for the excellent reviews I linked above.

One of the core characters of the G.I. Joe mythos (and Rise of Cobra detractors would argue she became a bit overly “core”) The Baroness has had a ton of screen time, but surprisingly, her backstory is still somewhat of a blank slate. We know about her brother, and her history with Snake Eyes, but we don’t know a whole lot past that. Well, in this new IDW universe, they’re not crossing that bridge again, and we get a nice look at what makes The Baroness tick, even in this short preview.
