For G.I. Joe fans who have been following the property for only a few short years, this may come as a surprise, but believe it or not, there was a time, not very long ago, where Roadblock wasn’t a household name. In fact, he wasn’t even on Hasbro’s radar. A victim of lost trademarks, it seemed inevitable that Roadblock would simply fade from the consciousness of the G.I. Joe faithful and no longer be a major part of ongoing canon.
Sure didn’t turn out that way, huh?
I must give credit to long time Joe buddy Todd of Magnum 6 Delta for prompting me to put this post together, and considering the G.I. Joe: Retaliation motion picture on the horizon, and the potential for redefining the core characters of the Real American Hero brand, the timing couldn’t be better. Well, he refers to it, though he admits up front that there is no real clear indication as to exactly how the character survived. At Soompi.com, several quotes from the Korean actor reveal that Storm Shadow does indeed apparently return from the dead in the sequel, though Lee Byung-Hun admits the way he does it isn’t necessarily clearly explained.
“In the film there is no separate explanation. However, there is a hint as to how ‘Storm Shadow’ resurrects.” The star added, “I really like the role of Storm Shadow. In order to act him out, I studied his character history and he was the most charming character of G.I. Joe. In the film there is a division between the Cobra army and Joes, however Storm Shadow does not really belong to either group. I liked the fact that the character was a lonely fighter.”
So, according to the actor himself, there is no real “separate explanation” but a hint as to how the character resurrects. Something tells me the hint lies within the clear, water-filled tubes, but I guess we will find out June 29th!

And the flood begins! My comments, emails and text messages have been flying this evening as more folks are reporting sightings of the new discount G.I. Joe figures at Dollar Generals across the country.
UPDATE – Some questions about price… reports are retail of $6.00 per figure.
Everywhere from Tennessee to Oklahoma and St. Louis, but the one common denominator is they’re being found in Dollar General stores specifically. Big thanks to both Mike from Whats on Joe Mind and GeneralsJoes visitor Dustin for forwarding some images along as proof. Mike even included his trademark bananas. Check out the images below, and just as a reminder of what you can expect, make sure you read up on the Dollar Store figures with my exclusive reveal right here.

Sticking with the theme over the past week, the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club has revealed another member of the 2012 Convention Exclusive boxed set. This time around, we get a look at the awesome Iron Grenadier Elite Trooper!
And wow, this is a good one! Slated as a troop builder with two figures in the boxed set, I see a lot of great Crimson Guard elements in this figure, and he’s using the unreleased Arctic Cobra Commander tooling, which rocks! First time many fans will be getting their hands on these parts.
I’m not wild about that large rifle, but this figure actually looks really, really nice. I can’t help but notice a lack of consistency with the troopers, but I think this red and silver looks great. And this would seem to be the last of the troopers. Hopefully tomorrow we’ll see a new Iron Grenadier named character, or the last two members of the Oktober Guard.
Check out the mirrored image below, and keep your eye on GIJoeCon.com for the latest details!

Granted, no images have surfaced yet, but over on JoeCustoms.com, Stormtrooper53 is reporting that he has found Snake Eyes and Cobra Trooper at his local Dollar General store today! I am inclined to believe him, even without the images.
You can see the report in this thread, I suspect it’s just a matter of time before more sightings start emerging.
Gentlemen (and ladies) start your engines!
Thanks to Billah Killcarr for the information.

So, Kokomo Toys has their G.I. Joe: Retaliation pre-orders going strong, and in celebration they passed along some to me to give away! I have a Snake Eyes, Roadblock, and Storm Shadow single pack MOC figures ready to go to someone’s lucky home.
How do you win?
Simple. The first figure will be available to whoever comments on this thread with the correct guess for whichever figure is going to be revealed by the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club next. We figure today the GIJCC will likely be revealing the next JoeCon figure… who do you think it will be?
Comment on this post with your guess, and the correct guesses will go in a hat, with the lucky pick getting one free figure. Then we’ll try the same trick tomorrow and see how things go.
Good luck!

And they’re throwing a party!
JoeCustoms initially entered the online G.I. Joe community as the Bivouac over 10 years ago, but the official movement to “JoeCustoms.com” was 10 years ago and they’ve never looked back. P-Luv has started a thread over on JoeCustoms to discuss its awesome 10 year history, and probably the coolest part of this whole celebration is a conversation with camper and Beav, two past admins for the site. Camper was the guy who started the whole thing way back when, and Beav was running the show himself for many years until P-Luv recently took over.
Without a doubt the site that spearheaded the G.I. Joe customizing community this is an awesome look at the past 10 years, plus there are some chances to win some good prizes as well.
Check it out right here!
by generalsjoes | May 10, 2012 | Dio-Stories, G.I. Joe
So every year the G.I. Joe Collectors Club holds a diorama contest, and from what we know, this year should be no different.
But what is different is that Todd from Kokomo Toys is sweetening the pot a little bit. If you’re planning on building a diorama for the Convention, consider adding a reference to Kokomo Toys somewhere within the diorama.
Todd will be checking out the dioramas at the Con, and if your diorama contest entry has something to do with Kokomo Toys or has the shop in it, he’ll give you either $100.00 for a first place prize and $50.00 for a second place prize, right on the spot!
If that’s not some great incentive, I don’t know what is. Big thanks to Todd from Kokomo Toys for coming up with this idea. A great one!

This past weekend the always entertaining NJCC (New Jersey Collectors’ Con) tore up New Jersey, and just like last year, the immortal Kevin Watts provided door prizes in the form of modified HISS Tanks. This year, they focused on tanks for the 30th Anniversary Hazard Vipers, and they came out very nicely.
But as cool as the HAZARD Tanks are, this is where Kevin really knocked it out of the park. As part of the show, Kevin build a diorama for the Compound Z Lab. Using existing G.I. Joe playset parts, he assembled a very professional looking lab that fits the theme perfectly.
Check out the thread on HissTank.com and I’ve also mirrored a few images below. Kevin does some fantastic work, I’m one of his biggest fans, and I think this is an example of some of the great stuff he can do. Bad enough his customs are tearing it up, now he’s gotta depress me with his awesome diorama work, too. Ah, well…
