Target Exclusive "Past and Present" Rockslide 2-Pack reviewed

So I haven’t really jumped all over the Past and Present idea…I mean, I absolutely love the concept, but there’s only so much Hasbro can do with it, and honestly, I didn’t think they started off very strongly with the Rockslide 2-pack.  I’ve already got two Rise of Cobra Rockslides, and I’ve got plenty of vintage Snow Jobs and Battle Bears, with no real desire to drop money for more.
Thankfully, GeneralsJoes contributor Mysterious Stranger doesn’t agree, he picked up a set, and was awesome enough to submit a review!  You can check it out on the Rise of Cobra Reviews Page, or just hit it directly right here.
Just another one I owe him…

Sideshow Collectibles Update from the latest Newsletter

Sideshow Collectibles has posted their latest newsletter, with all sorts of G.I. Joe related information.  Items of note are as follows:

  • Snake Eyes vs. The Red Ninjas Backstage Pass – Check out this great video showing the minds behind the design and creation of this incredible looking statue.  Yeah, I think most Joe fans are really fired up about the 12″ figures, but this looks very impressive as well, and it’s always neat to get the inside scoop straight from the source!
  • Sideshow Teaser for the next 12″ Joe – A nice shadowed image featuring the familiar profiles of Duke, Flint, Snake Eyes, and…  hmmmm?  I think most folks can probably make an educated guess based on what we know, and to me it looks like a certain masked Army Ranger.  Man, it kills me every time these are shown.  I love the looks of these figures, but just can’t swing the cash at the moment.  If that is Beachhead, it’ll be another knife in the gut, as I’m sure the figure looks amazing.

  • Sideshow Exclusive 12″ Flint – Sideshow reveals that the 12″ Flint is now limited to 650 pieces…but is already sold out.  For folks dying to get their hands on this version of the Joe Warrant Officer, hop on the wait list or you can also pre-order the normal version right here.
  • Cobra Sniper 12″ Figure – Last, but not least, the Cobra Sniper is on the verge of a sell out, with only 8 pieces left in stock.  He comes with a ton of great accessories and is a nice compliment to your slowly budding Cobra army.  Grab it now!

Big Lob Makes his Move!

While everyone is  focusing on what the next Convention figure will be, the G.I. Joe Club has brought our attention back to this year’s free membership incentive figure, Big Lob!  First they report via an email from Brian Savage that figures should be arriving around April 15th.  Also, if anyone wants extras, they can currently pre-order them from the Club Store.
Also, in more exciting news, the Club reports that Big Lob will make his comic book debut in the March, 2010 issue of the Club newsletter, starting his adventures in a series of one page spotlights.  The comics are written by Jesse Wittenrich with pencils by Dan Khanna.  Don’t miss out, Join the Club now.
I know there aren’t many folks who are excited about Big Lob, but I think it’s pretty neat.  Hopefully if he captures some fan attention other characters like Pythona, Kwinn, or Billy might be down the pipeline…

Zombieland writers talk early stages of G.I. Joe sequel

The MTV Movies Blog had a chance to sit down and talk with the writers behind Zombieland, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and made sure to grill them somewhat about the progress on the G.I. Joe sequel.  The two writers confirmed that they are working on the film, and that it will not be a reboot.  But they also specified that they will try and make it closer to the source material while still making it a big, fun movie.
In the interview they say that they are traveling to Hasbro headquarters to start working out ideas for new characters (though they would not say who).  Check out the interview for yourself, embedded below:
