The Evolution of a Toy Room – Part Four

As time continues to roll on, it feels a bit odd writing up these updates, considering how far along I am now, but how far back I feel like I should write so I don’t skip too much time.  Folks who have been following along, know that in Part Three I talked about the sudden appearance of 7 feet of copper piping on one wall, and how that threw my entire display idea into flux.  The builder accommodated nicely by walling around those pipes and the wall-mounted ventilation system, giving me some room to work with.

At this point, we’ve been living in the house for about two months, and the room is starting to come together.  Click the read the rest of the story link below for the full details.

Cool new G.I. Joe: Retaliation wall calendar revealed on Amazon.com

Merchandising is a big thing when it comes to major motion pictures, and it looks like the push to 2013 hasn’t hurt the calendar makers.  Amazon.comhas posted a pre-order and preview gallery of a 2013 wall calendar from the G.I. Joe: Retaliation film.  Best thing about it, is that it debuts some previously unseen characters like Clutch, Mouse, and…  “Special Ops”?

Equally interesting is the lack of other characters like Flint and Joe Colton, but there are three months not shown in the preview, so it’s likely that’s where you’ll see them.

Check out the item right here, and I’ve mirrored some of the images below.

What’s on Joe Mind nears retirement age with Episode 64

Retirement?  Did someone say retirement… as I am in the midst of several 10 – 12 hour days in a row at work that word sounds awful nice right about now…

But enough about real life!  Thrust yourself back into your imaginary G.I. Joe filled existence with What’s on Joe Mind Episode 64.  We are joined this week by podcasting experts Slick McFavorite and Mrs. McFavorite from the Open Your Toys Podcast where we discuss the critical issues of the day like how to fill your entertainment center with San Diego ComicCon exclusives, whether a gimp suit equals a “vinyl toy”, and where to find the best french-speaking poutine.  It’s a live one, folks.

As always, hit up the full show notes after the jump, check out our Podbean Page, or listen to the embedded player below.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation director Jon Chu talks about the sequel and future projects

Especially compared to the frenzy of social media and internet updates we had seen for several months running, the silence regarding G.I. Joe: Retaliation over the past month has been deafening, and honestly I think it will continue to be that way probably until closer to the end of the year.

We talked about this a little bit during last night’s recording of the What’s on Joe Mind podcast, and I feel pretty comfortable saying that once we hit the Super Bowl, we will probably see another trailer (hopefully with some different footage) and I think promotion will seriously ramp up at that point for the March release.  Until then, though, I think things will remain relatively quiet.

However, G.I. Joe: Retaliation director Jon Chu did speak with New Media Rockstars, speaking mostly about new projects with superstar Justin Bieber, but also touching quite a bit on G.I. Joe: Retaliation as well.  Mr. Chu repeated much of what he said to GeneralsJoes a while ago, repeating that none of the film delay was due to Channing Tatum or fears about the film’s performance, merely relying on the ever-changing technology and implementing some 3D elements.

There isn’t a whole lot of new information, but with the G.I. Joe community being somewhat starved for Retaliation updates these days, we will take what we can get.  Check out the full interview right here.

Hasbro Press Release for San Diego ComicCon events

I think most of us figured that San Diego ComicCon might not be chock full of G.I. Joe goodness, and the  Hasbro Press Release more or less confirms that.  Still, for Joe fans heading to San Diego, they will apparently have the G.I. Joe: Retaliation product there for gazing as well as some movie props!

Do not expect to see the Concept Case, though, we were told at JoeCon that was a JoeCon only event.

Check out the important (IE, the G.I. Joe related) portions of the Press Release below:

G.I. JOE

JOE convention as well as the recently announced G.I. JOE MICRO FORCE line. The Hasbro booth at Comic-Con will be an opportunity for fans to see them in person before they hit shelves in the spring of 2013. The G.I. JOE: RETALIATION movie from Paramount Pictures is scheduled to hit theaters on March 29th, 2013 in 3D and starsDwayne Johnson, Channing Tatum, Bruce Willis, Adrianne Palickiand more. As G.I. JOE fans know (and knowing is half the battle), the vehicles and costumes featured in the G.I. JOE vs. COBRA saga are just as important as the characters. As a special opportunity for fans, Hasbro will have props from the movie on display including the FIREFLY character’s motorcycle and the COBRA COMMANDER character’s iconic helmet.

Hasbro and the G.I. JOE publishers at IDW will also be celebrating the ongoing legacy and heritage of G.I. JOE comics by welcoming G.I. JOE comics legend, Larry Hama to its booth for an autograph session on Saturday, July 14 from 1:00-2:00pm.
