More awesome roster additions to the G.I. Joe: Special Ops online game!

Woooah, buddy!  Just doing some random checking today, and what do I see?  The SyFy website for the upcoming G.I. Joe: Special Ops online game has updated with some incredibly cool new character art!

Some big names have been added to the rosters including Cobra Commander, Serpentor, Scarlett, and Sci-Fi!  I love that we’re getting a decidedly IDW flavor for both Cobra Commander and Serpentor, with Sci-Fi obviously having his very cool 30th Anniversary elements included.  Great, great looking stuff.

Check out the ever growing Special Ops gallery below for all of the great character art to date, including today’s additions!  I’m getting very fired up for this game to hit.

G.I. Joe: Special Ops website updates with new characters and gear!

As if G.I. Joe: Retaliation wasn’t enough, we’ve got the upcoming social media G.I. Joe: Special Ops online game that is looking more out of this world with every reveal!  Today we’re introduced to the Special Ops version of Roadblock, Lifeline, Buzzer, Dr. Mindbender, the Cobra Stun and G.I. Joe: Wolverine, and things are looking awesome.  Very much a vintage aesthetic, with some neat 30th Anniversary twists.

Lifeline is clearly based on the way the 30th Anniversary figure looks, with those unique differences from the classic version.  Roadblock, on the other hand, is looking like his old school Tiger Force version.  Pretty awesome.

Check out the latest details at the Special Ops website on SyFy.com, and I’ve mirrored some nice images below.  I mean, doesn’t it seem like we’ve been waiting for some kind of game like this forever?  When have we gotten such character and vehicle-accurate renders for any kind of video game?  I’m getting pretty excited to check this out, just in case you couldn’t tell.  I’ve mirrored darn near every image we’ve seen so far, check out the most recent ones on the end.

Mammoth and Monumental Episode 52 of What’s on Joe Mind is online now!

Wow, it’s hard to believe that it’s been a full year since the What’s on Joe Mind podcast launched, but the guys certainly know how to celebrate.  Episode #52 features not just an interview with Michael Bell to celebrate, but we also opened our phone lines to all of our fans!  For over three hours we had a constant stream of callers dialing in to shoot the breeze, ask questions, and just generally have some fun.

Not only that, but we had some old friends stop by and hang out on the show for a little while, which was a really fun, awesome experience.

I just happened to be running a little late for this one, but I should pop up about an hour into the episode, and eventually I don’t sound like I’m talking in a trash can.  Listen to this landmark 1 year anniversary episode on Podbean.com, or check it out via the embedded player below.  As always, the show notes will be after the jump.

IDW superstar Robert Atkins comes back to the show to talk about his time at Roll Out Roll Call 3, and we have a terrific conversation about the recent crackdown on 3rd Party vendors and artist’s alley at Botcon.  Great to talk to someone directly impacted by those events!

We also cover the latest news and intel going on in the G.I. Joe world, and Beachhead Mike actually makes it through the entire episode without ralphing.  It’s an Easter miracle!  Listen to the episode at our Podbean page, or hit up the embedded player below.  Show notes are after the jump.

Featuring Kevin Watts who comes on the show to talk about the HAZARD HISS Tank and the New Jersey Collector Con, and of course also featuring the immortal Kevin Michael Richardson (Roadblock from G.I. G.I. Joe: Retaliation video or mobile game coming in 2012?

I’m not necessarily convinced we’ll see a full blown video game in time for G.I. Joe: Retaliation theatrical release, but according to HissTank.com, trademarks are in place for such an event.  The United States Patent and Trademark Office has revealed trademark 85512818, with information in regards to G.I. Joe: Retaliation trademarks:

“Interactive entertainment software, namely computer game software, computer game programs, computer game cartridges, computer game discs; interactive multimedia computer game programs; downloadable software for use in connection with computer games, communication devices and mobile telephones; computer game software for use with communication devices and mobile telephones, video game programs, video game software, video game cartridges; pre-recorded laser and video discs featuring animated cartoon series.”

Now, this could mean any matter of things…it could be mobile games for the Apple IOS and Android, or perhaps even Facebook games or viral marketing techniques.  I would think that if a full blown video game was being released, we might have known about it by now, but I could be wrong.

Full details for the Rise of Cobra game came out in February, 2009 but that film was released a bit later in the year.  Still, with Toy Fair on the horizon, chances of this info getting out soon are very good.

Hopefully we’ll hear more details in a few short weeks at Toy Fair.  Meanwhile, let speculation run wild!
