Project: ARAH Updates from SlayerCon 2

Anyone who doubts the validity of the fabled o-ring format, may want to prepare to change their minds. Straight from SlayerCon 2 in Baltimore,
Maryland, the guys behind the Project: ARAH subscription service have been sending along picture updates of the figures that will be available
from the service including Pythona and the snipers!

These look awesome.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of how the modern style figures have evolved to this point, but there is something about totally new and totally
different o-ring figures that gets me completely geeked out in a way that the modern figures don’t. And these figures are truly geek worthy.

Check out some mirrored images below, but also make sure you’re checking the Old School Creations and Project: ARAH Facebook page for more
updates. Wow, I cannot freaking WAIT to get these in hand! I’ll be buying paints and getting ready to paint ’em up very shortly.

Impressive.

Don’t forget, for the latest and greatest Project: ARAH information, keep your eyes on their forums.

GeneralsJoes Reviews IDW’s G.I. Joe: RAH Annual for 2012

The idea of a “Yearbook” or “Annual” seems like almost a thing of the past, especially in the G.I. Joe world, and I was excited to hear that IDW was reviving the concept for the Real American Hero title.  Many of those old school yearbooks were some of the coolest stories going on in the Marvel days.

IDW really dives head long into the whole vintage concept here as well, as they comb the historical archives and pull out some really great art talents to bring this story to life.

The end results?  Well, you’re just going to have to click the Read the Rest of this Story link below for the full details.

JoeDeclassified Spec Ops Podcast reveals Cobra Island Playset

I’ve been talking to the guys involved with the SpecOps podcast for a while, and I’ve made several promises to be on the show, but I just haven’t been able to make it happen yet.  Shame on me, and I’m especially disappointed that I missed this inaugural episode.

A lot of their conversation focused around the awesome Cobra Island Playset, a concept from the 80’s that unfortunately never came to pass.  But the podcast goes way above and beyond that.  Tons of great conversation about design with a whole cast full of informed and “in the know” Joe fans.  The podcast is a must listen.  You can check it out at the JDSO Podbean page, and also the embedded player below.

Make sure you hit up JoeDeclassified.com for the awesome Cobra Island design sketches, too.  I’ve mirrored a few of them below, but the rest of there.  Awesome stuff.

Episode 43 of What’s on Joe Mind online featuring Ryan Penagos

It’s been a crazy recording week this week for the What’s on Joe Mind crew…heck for most of them it’s been a crazy few weeks!  We spent some time this past week talking to various different folks at different levels of the geek stratosphere, but perhaps none with such a large following as Ryan Penagos, AKA Agent M on Twitter.  As Executive Editorial Director for Marvel.com he has his hands in many different pies, and is of course, a social media mastermind.

We interrogate him about Marvel Comics, Marvel Studios, Twitter, and even manage to sneak in some G.I. Joe related discussion.  Check it out on our Podbean page, or listen to the embedded player below.  Click the Read the Rest of the Story link below the player for the show notes.

G.I. Joe: Initiate Fanfilm adds Chuckles and Tunnel Rat!

Another very cool update for the upcoming G.I. Joe: Initiate fanfilm!  Last week and this week they posted two new cast images, this time for Tunnel Rat and Chuckles.  The actors are really looking their part, and things are looking very high end.

I love how Chuckles image has a bit of a Cobra flair, like he might already be an undercover operative…

But as I said before, this great looking fan film needs our help.  They need to get gas for the actor’s cars, get them meals…and whatever profit they make goes straight to the Wounded Warriors charity.

They are currently hovering just about 50% of their goal, but we need to step up and do what we can to push them over.  Check out their Kickstarter page to help them out and keep up to date with the latest and greatest G.I. Joe: Initiate information at their Facebook page.
