G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club April Newsletter Sneak Preview!

With both the March and April newsletters running behind schedule, the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club has posted a terrific sneak preview of their upcoming April issue on GIJoeClub.com!

I’ve gone on record saying that the newsletter has been hugely improved as of late, mostly pointing to the excellent comic contained within, featuring very cool cameos by many familiar GIJCC universe characters.  Looks like this continues on in April, where we see a great preview page of the comic featuring Nano-BAT, Footloose, Jammer, Gaucho, Quarrel, and Sparta!  An awesome selection of GIJCC themed designs, and I love seeing them in comic book form.  This is pretty much what I envisioned when I produced the dio comics for the newsletter a few years ago, but unfortunately my own schedule prevented me from continuing past 3 story arcs.  I commend the folks doing this comic for doing some great work here.

GeneralsJoes Reviews IDW’s Snake Eyes #11

As Cobra Command has surged along at a high rate of speed, I’m struggling a little bit to keep up, but trying my best!  Cobra #11 was released today featuring the conclusion to Cobra Command, but I figured I can’t very well tackle a review of that one until I get last week’s installment off the table.

I’ve found myself surprisingly happy with the unfolding events in Nanzhao, even as some things that I’m normally not a huge fan of transpire around it.  I was a bit discouraged to see the super human B.A.T.s become such a major component, though they were pretty quickly wiped off the map with the detonation of the nuclear device.

Speaking of which… click the read the rest of the story link for the full review.

GeneralsJoes Reviews G.I. Joe: Retaliation #3

Call me an addict if you want, but dammit I need my G.I. Joe: Retaliation fix!!  It seemed for a while there like we were getting some stuff from G.I. Joe: Retaliation on a weekly basis, but it’s dropped off somewhat (beyond the press photos).  My hunger for Retaliation news pretty much forced me to jump on and immediately consume issue #3 of the G.I. Joe: Retaliation movie prequel by John Warden, Salvadore Navarro, and Atilio Rojo…I’m really glad I did.

No mere movie adaptation here, Barber has elected to travel backwards in time a little bit and tell us some real origins of some of the Retaliation crew.  Click the read the rest of the story link below for the full review.

Robert Atkins does the Red Shadows…and a new project on the horizon!

As Robert Atkins is en route to Southampton, England to attend Roll Out Roll Call 3, he has posted a great image of the exclusive print that the folks at RORC 3 plan to have available at the show!

It is an absolutely awesome Red Shadows piece that you can see here, or mirrored below.

Also, Robert is in the midst of a new project, and he needs our help!  He is currently working with Quinn Johnson on a pretty neat looking new super hero comic project called Elders of the Runestone, and they have launched a Kickstarter page to help fund it.  You can check out the video below, and please, if you can, take a few moments to go to Kickstarter and help fund Robert’s exciting new project.

No G.I. Joe programming on The Hub through early 2013

A short while ago we heard rumor that a potential follow up for G.I. Joe: Renegades is potentially in the early stages, so this should really come as no surprise, since any animated series in the “discussion” phase would be for programming not slated to begin until late 2013…but for the sake of full coverage, The Hub has issued a press release confirming their line up of programming for late 2012 and early 2013.

As expected, no G.I. Joe to be found.

The press release can be found on Discovery’s Corporate Media Page, and I’ve also mirrored it after the jump.

Thanks to CIAD of HissTank.com for the heads up.

Episode 43 of What’s on Joe Mind online featuring Ryan Penagos

It’s been a crazy recording week this week for the What’s on Joe Mind crew…heck for most of them it’s been a crazy few weeks!  We spent some time this past week talking to various different folks at different levels of the geek stratosphere, but perhaps none with such a large following as Ryan Penagos, AKA Agent M on Twitter.  As Executive Editorial Director for Marvel.com he has his hands in many different pies, and is of course, a social media mastermind.

We interrogate him about Marvel Comics, Marvel Studios, Twitter, and even manage to sneak in some G.I. Joe related discussion.  Check it out on our Podbean page, or listen to the embedded player below.  Click the Read the Rest of the Story link below the player for the show notes.
