JoeCanuck Newsletter #9 Online Now

My good buddies over at JoeCanuck have launched the September issue of their now famous JoeCanuck Newsletter.  Even though they are based in Canada, these newsletters are fun for all nationalities, and feature an exclusive dio-story by yours truly.  In fact, the September issue wraps up the first 6-parter!  Hope you’ve enjoyed it.  To be brutally honest, I’ve read and heard absolutely zero feedback on it (other than the JoeCanuck guys themselves) so I’m not even sure anyone liked it or cared about it…  but it was fun.

Actually talking about the JoeCanuck newsletter also brings up an interesting thought to me that I’ve been meaning to talk about.

The Making of a Dio-Story pt 1 – The Script

So I gave folks the chance to choose what they wanted me to talk about first when it comes to the long, complex process of making a dio-story.  Overwhelmingly, people wanted to see the scripting/storyboarding process, which of course, is one of the more complex parts of producing these works of fiction.  I will do my best to outline the long road I take between concept and production for these stories, and hopefully some folks find it entertaining, useful, or maybe even both.

“A Win’s a Win”

If any game were the very definition of the term above, this would be it.  Cassel was okay, Maroney was okay, the defense was GREAT, but overall the game had a somewhat ugly feel to it, yet we pulled out a 19-10 victory over division rival New York Jets.

Today’s the day

4:15pm.  Patriots Vs. Jets.  Matt Cassel’s first start since 1999 when he started for Chatsworth High School.  He’s played sporadically in the pre-season and in the regular season (when the game was already out of reach) but this is his first NFL start.

I have no idea how he’ll do, especially against a tough division rival like the Jets, but part of me is excited to see what happens this afternoon.  The other part of me is terrified.  :shifty:

Concerns about the movie toys?

I know, I know…the mere mention of “Movie Toys” at this point sends most Joe fans into a spiralling depression and near-psychotic rage.  We all love our Anniversary stuff, but like it or not, as of summer, 2009, we’ll be moving on to the inevitable onslaught of movie toys.  Trust me when I say there will be no complaints about distribution once those bad boys hit.  Oye ve!

GOAL REACHED!

Well, I continue to be impressed and humbled by the online G.I. Joe fandom who have come to my aid!  My camera died 6 days ago, and it took all of 5 days for the fans of this site to come together, pool their resources and really blow me away with their generosity.

This isn’t something that will become a habit, believe me.  In fact, I hope I never ever have to do it again, and I don’t plan on doing it ever again.  But I am pleasantly surprised at the positive responses I’ve gotten throughout.

Thanks to everyone for their donations, however large or small, they all made a difference, and I’m going camera shopping this weekend!

How’s about we have a little fun with this, too?  Anyone have any requests for the first pictures they want me to take with the new Fuji?  Drop a comment down below and let me know!

Thanks one and all.  You guys are awesome!
