I think I’ve finally got the new theme all ironed out. I did some database optimizing and some speed tweaks, so performance should be considerably better. Please let me know if it’s not. I also added a new Image Randomizer script up above, so the banner images will be randomly displayed when you hit the site. A silly little thing (and I’ve only got 2 banners right now, so you may not see much variety) but something I’ve wanted to mess around with a bit.
I may still hork around with the font colors a bit, I’m not sure yet about the different shades of gray, but I think more or less we’re good to go.
Okay, I think I’ve got most of the tweaking done for the day. I may swap colors around a bit if people don’t like some things, but as of right now, I think we’re stable. Tiger’s gone, too. :shifty:

As you may have noticed if you’ve stopped by the site today, things are looking a bit funky…and there’s a tiger up there.
I’m messing with the themes a little bit, so you may see some sporadic wonkyness today. I love the layout, but there are some glitches with image alignment and the fluid-width stuff that’s not blowing my skirt up, so I’m messing with things a bit.
Thanks for your patience, I’ll have this either revamped or back to normal by tomorrow.
The guys from JoeCanuck have posted their latest newsletter on the site, full of the same great articles you’ve come to expect. From the sounds of things, big news is on the horizon for the Canadian JoeCon as well!

ws_toys, the seller who has already presented us with Breaker, the Resolute B.A.T., and the Baroness comes through again with an auction for one of the Rise of COBRA preview figures, the M.A.R.S. Officer. The figure comes packaged in a boxed 3-pack set with two M.A.R.S. Troopers as well, which I covered pretty extensively in this post (thanks to cmderinchief of the Coil Club).

I’m really warming up to these guys (and the Troopers). The funky layered armor over the commando sweater…those very Neo-Viper like helmets (which sort of ties them into the upcoming Neo-Viper as well, even though the Neo-Viper doesn’t have his trademark helmet). I’ve been fighting it, kicking and screaming, however slowly but surely I’m being pulled into this movie universe and the figures that go along with it. Some of these look very interesting, even if they are remarkably dissimilar to the familiar Joes and COBRA’s that we’ve seen over the past twenty-six years. I really like the armor on his arms, I love the webgear and helmet, and all of his weapons are terrific. A very nice figure here, and I’m looking forward to getting the preview 3-pack in May.
Forum member acmilan8540 of ACToys.net has posted a few new pictures of the upcoming Rise of COBRA Storm Shadow figure from the first wave of G.I. Joe movie-themed figures. One of my favorite figures that I saw during Toy Fair last weekend, Storm Shadow is really a perfect example of how well Hasbro is able to capture the movie “look” in plastic form. Whether or not you like the movie designs, this is a nice representation of the way the infamous COBRA assassin looks in the movie. Pretty nice! Man, is it a great time to be a geek or what? As a childhood toy and comic book freak, who would have thought that summers in my 30’s would be spent enjoying (for the most part) Hollywood’s take on those super heroes and supernatural characters that shaped my imagination back then. While I have no plans nor intentions to be a news site related to Marvel toys, I figure since I linked to a post about the movie Deadpool figure at MarvelousNews.com yesterday, I might as well post a follow up, because a poster on ToyArk.com scored some MUCH better pictures of this figure. Once again I’ll put pics after the break so as not to spoil anything.
Along with pics, I’ll post my thoughts, too.
