Amongst the Destro-related hooplah today, somewhat lost in the shuffle is a few new pictures of the upcoming Rise of COBRA Neo-Viper. Thanks go to cmderinchief of the Coil Club as usual, who provides some neat out-of-box pics of the upcoming COBRA trooper. You can check out the thread with the pictures here, or also check out the gallery below:
The Coventry Telegraph interviewed both Channing Tatum and Sienna Miller about their roles as Duke and The Baroness respectively in the upcoming G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA motion picture.
Honestly, there isn’t much new information, but some mentions of fantasy vs. reality, the infamous “accelerator suits” and some words from director Stephen Sommers as well.
ws_toys, infamous overseas eBay seller has posted an auction for the Rise of COBRA Destro! This is the first ever picture of the upcoming Destro figure, and features the famous COBRA villain in full European regalia with his metal battle mask. A very, VERY cool look! Pictures are below:
Canadian seller greenninjav has posted a listing for the upcoming M.A.R.S. Troopers 3-Pack. The figures and accessories themselves are loose, but the auction comes complete with the box.
The rumors persist that this item is a “preview” set that will likely be hitting store shelves in May, but for the impatient folks, now is your chance to take a crack at this one a bit early. Click here to check out the auction.
Geek satire website Topless Robot takes aim at the original G.I. Joe animated movie with a list of the 10 Most Ridiculous Things about the Original G.I. Joe Movie (besides COBRA La).
With a bevy of YouTube clips (some by yours truly… :shifty: ) they cover everything from Quick Kick’s questionable arctic attire to Snake Eyes being bitch-slapped by a Royal Guard. Entertaining to say the least! Check it out here.
HissTank.com continues their gallery and reviews of the Wave 1 figures from G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA. This time around, they give us Breaker.
I can definitely see both sides of the Breaker comments. Part of me thinks this figure is fairly dull, although his accessory compliment is pretty impressive. I love the laptop, I really like how it plugs in with his missile launcher/surveillance dish, but he’s definitely in sort of a “desk jockey” uniform. I’m certain once we see this figure in his full high tech suit (no pun intended) many folks will be changing their tune.
I’ve got a couple galleries of this figure myself, from Toy Fair, and from a week or two ago. Check those out below:
This is hilarious… just a few months ago I posted about Marvel TV shows and I mentioned the immortal Japanese Spider-Man series, and even showcased the introduction to the overseas production. Well, Marvel.com has started posting episodes of the Japanese show, and promises a new episode every Thursday. Best part is, the shows have subtitles, so for the first time I can actually tell what the hell is going on. Classic!
Check out the 70’s cheeziness on Marvel.com here as well.
GeneralsJoes has received some detailed pictures of never-before-seen features of the upcoming COBRA Steel Crusher Humvee from the G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA movie line. This will be a Bravo scaled vehicle released with the COBRA Nitro-Viper.
At first it appeared to be your run-of-the-mill chunky almost Playskool-like jeep that served little form or function. Every closer look, though, gives it some more personality and more appeal. The swing-down armored roof and windscreen, the hidden missile launchers…lots of cool little details that each add something to the overall function of the vehicle. It still doesn’t blow me away, but each added detail makes it a little more cooler to me.

Yes, I know Wolverine and the X-Men has only barely started airing in the United States, and folks watching this excellent series on NickToons are only a few episodes into it. However, in other parts of the world (namely Canada) the series has been airing on a regular basis since last year, and they have broadcast all the way through episode 23. There are twenty-six episodes total in the first season (a full run down of the episode titles are available in the WikiPedia entry, but beware of spoilers in the episode titles and descriptions).
Sienna Miller is doing the press tour, supporting her new film “Edge of Love” but as she makes the rounds, she spills some stuff about the upcoming G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA as well. MTV.com did a quick interview with the G.I. Joe femme fetale, which you can find online here.
There are a bunch of great informational tidbits, including the confirmation that the two guys in the Accelerator Suits are Channing “Duke” Tatum and Marlon “Ripcord” Wayans.
Best quote about the film so far:
“Sienna said her favorite scene, however, was decidedly low-tech, depicting her evil Cobra assassin pulling hair with Joe agent “Scarlett” O’Hara. “There’s a really, really good girl fight between Rachel Nichols and myself,” she explained. “It’s like a proper, violent girl-fight scene. And we both worked so hard for the choreography and the training of it. … We both got hurt. I’m clumsy, so I slipped on a rubber bullet at one point and sprained my wrist quite badly. She ran into a flame and got burned.”
Great to see some positive buzz this early in the year. Things will only ramp up from here.
