Over on HissTank.com, they report that some images have appeared of upcoming Rise of Cobra releases, including a very mysterious Firefly/Elite-Viper hybrid that doesn’t fit anything we’ve heard of before. Tough to tell if it’s actually legitimate or not, but it is interesting to see it. The coloring is a bit lighter than the version released with the Gunship, and with that Elite Viper head, it could really belong anywhere…be interesting to see where this goes.
As for the other pictures, Ice Storm is still a pretty neat looking figure to me, and unlike many Joe fans apparently, I actually really like the red camouflaged Elite-Viper slated to come with the Trubble Bubble, too. Check out the images below.

We’ve seen enough of these images to really know what we’re getting with these sets, but the fact that we now have official pictures to show probably means these are on the verge of release. And as usual, these two vehicles add a sense of conflict… I love the Elite-Viper, but would have loved something NEW with the Elite-Viper…however, the Cobra vehicle is far superior to the G.I. Joe one. On the flip side, though, this strange amalgamation of Paris Pursuit Snake Eyes and the Commando Snake Eyes from Rise of Cobra at least offers some new elements, even if the end result is a bulkier version of the same figure. Bulk is exactly what that figure needed, though, so maybe this is a good thing?

With credit to Steevey Maximus over on HissTank.com who reports that a Transformers podcast Moonbase2 spoke with legendary voice actor Michael Bell and asked him about upcoming audition work. To my pleasant surprise, Mr. Bell responded that he had actually auditioned for the role of General Hawk in an upcoming G.I. Joe animated series!
Slated to run for twenty-six episodes, the series appears to be in the very early stages, and will possibly air late next year to correspond with the Pursuit of Cobra. No other details are known as of yet, but you can bet that I’ll keep my ear to the ground.
For folks who aren’t aware, Michael Bell played Duke in the original Sunbow animated series.

One of the coolest events in toy customization are the occasional “CustomCons” held by renowned toy website The Fwoosh. During these “CustomCons”, customs of all shapes, sizes, and styles are presented as if they are new toylines being shown to the public. There usually are some very cool things to be seen, including some occasional G.I. Joe related items.
This time around, though, Joe custom fansite JoeCustoms.com goes way above and beyond, by designing and “producing” a full-fledged “Spooks” boxed set using G.I. Joe parts. You might wonder what the big deal about Spook is? Well, it’s a very cool comic title by Devils’ Due Publishing written by none other than Larry Hama, so there are obvious ties to the G.I. Joe brand scattered throughout.
As part of this great CustomCon presentation, JoeCustoms has an exciting announcement to come in the next four days…keep your eyes peeled! Until then, check out their great boxed set over on The Fwoosh. More will be coming as well…

Normally I might not cover this, but I’m pretty sure I won’t end up owning this set, so I figured it’s only right to give it some due publicity by showcasing Alexx’s latest photographic onslaught, this time focusing on the Wal-Mart Exclusive Ninja Battles set. Chock full of gear with some… “interesting” paint application choices, Alexx breaks down exactly what’s in the box and whether it’s worth your time.
The review itself is right here, but check out the images below.

Obviously these figures are getting out into collectors’ hands, images have been sprouting up online all over the place…but GeneralsJoes likes to go the extra mile, so I’ve posted a full blown point-by-point review of the figure, including over fifty images of this amazing toy with all of the various cool ass accessories.

by generalsjoes | Dec 2, 2009 | G.I. Joe, G.I. Joe Toys, Pursuit of COBRA
A lot of various Pursuit of Cobra figures have started trickling out, but perhaps the one that has slipped most under the radar is Snow Job. Whether it’s due to the somewhat generic arctic look of the figure, or whether he’s just not quite as exciting as others like Zartan or Ripcord, I’m not sure, but for whatever reason, he hasn’t seen as much focus.
Well, Terror Drome member Outbackk bucks that trend and has posted some very nice images of the figure, as well as revealing the fact that the goggles and hat are not removable. A pity. This figure is really cool, and his accessories are absolutely amazing, but in a way, I can see why folks aren’t quite so excited about him. On the surface he’s very much like the Rise of Cobra Arctic Snake Eyes… but those ski’s and that sniper rifle almost sell me on their own. Check out the images for yourself.

by generalsjoes | Dec 1, 2009 | 12" Scale, G.I. Joe, Sideshow
Sideshow has been breaking it open the past week, with an awesome reveal of the 12″ Firefly (though my opinion seems to be in the minority on that one) and now, the latest installment of the Sideshow Q & A have revealed some awesome information about upcoming G.I. Joe offerings from the high end collectible company.
Is Sideshow going to make a Beach Head or Shock Wave G.I. Joe 12-inch figure?
Yes, Beachhead is development and will be unveiled in early 2010. Shock Wave has just recently graduated to a spot on our line list, but we have yet to begin development.
Sounds like some great stuff in the wings. To me, the coolest thing is that Sideshow seems to be eschewing the same ole same ole typical cast, and is making some efforts to produce figures that would really work in their 12″ format. Some great military specialties, and the potential for some incredible new looks. Can’t wait to see Beachhead next year, and I’m hopeful about Shockwave, too. I’ll admit, I really want to see what they can do with familiar classics like Destro and Zartan, but if they’re going to do G.I. Joe in a military format, they might as well focus on specialties that will look terrific in that larger, more intricate scale. Thumbs up.
Also, don’t forget that Firefly is still on pre-order…check out the banner below to check it out.

Thanks to Mysterious Stranger for the information!
