I promise I will refrain from the Kevin Bacon jokes that I’ve been seeing a lot of since this figure was first announced… 🙂
I’ve never been a huge Footloose fan, in all honesty, though reading his filecard made me wonder why not. As we should all expect, Larry Hama was able to infuse so much damn character into someone in such a tiny written space, and Footloose is no exception. He really is a fascinating guy. I have read some complaints that this version of the character makes him a bit harder and “edgier” than folks would prefer, but I disagree. I think this figure is pretty great.
Nice and military, great articulation, an awesome head sculpt… and the price is right! Check out the full review below.

Looks like we’re getting some good news this afternoon! The G.I. Joe: Retaliation Ninja Combat Cruiser has been revealed via in hand images thanks to ACToys.com. While we’ve seen plenty of press images of this vehicle, these are the first real in hand images…and the best news of all? It looks like the Arashikage symbol that everyone was hating is a sticker, not a permanent tampo applied to the vehicle!
That is great news. This vehicle looks exceptionally cool, and the fact that it can be used as a more standard military vehicle without all the ninja hullabaloo attached is very, very cool. Check out the thread on ACToys.com, and I’ve also mirrored images below. Thanks to The Terror Drome for the heads up.

And this time it’s Stormavik!
Yet another great looking member of the Oktober Guard, the Club has shown that they are pulling out the stops for these figures. Stormavik has a new head sculpt and some nicely stacked up body mold, using the legs from Shadow Tracker and the arms from City Strike Destro. Wow. He’s definitely tweaked for a more modern update, and it looks pretty friggen great. The Pursuit of Cobra Duke webgear suits the figure exceptionally well, too.
Check out GIJoeCon.com for the lowdown and I’ve got the awesome image mirrored below. This set is looking better and better every day!

What’s that you say? The Ghost Hawk II?! Is that even out yet?
No, it has not yet been released officially, though I was able to acquire a nearly complete sample (minus the Duke pilot, which was pretty heartbreaking, I gotta tell you). The good news is, the vehicle is on Pre-Order at Big Bad Toy Store, and honestly, I strongly believe it’s worth your consideration, especially at a very reasonable $24.99 price point.
It’s far from perfect, and actually I almost feel like I nitpick it a little bit too much in my review, but I’m trying to be as objective as possible. It is a very fun, larger than expected plane that could potentially serve your G.I. Joe team well, if you can get over some minor detractions. The links below will give you what you need!

One of the longest running G.I. Joe websites on the web, and a bastion of research for every Joe fan everywhere, YoJoe.com has quite simply left an indelible mark on the fabric of not just the online G.I. Joe community, but I would argue on the fabric of the action figure community in general.
I often see people in other collecting arenas asking “where can I find the “YoJoe” for Star Wars? Where can I find the “YoJoe” for Transformers?” It has serviced G.I. Joe fans for many years, and I would argue it is quite simply the most impactful G.I. Joe themed website ever. Just remember the first time you stumbled upon it and immediately were thrust back to the good old days.
But YoJoe.com isn’t content to rest on their laurels and survive based on the robustness of their figure archive…they’ve been working extremely hard behind the scenes for several months, and I dare say even years to do a soup-to-nuts overhaul of the entire action figure archive. The results are quite simply amazing.
With a totally revamped index, and much improved layout for the individual action figure entries, YoJoe has drastically improved on what was already a fantastic resource. You can see all the various different versions of the figures in a single entry, and you should never have to leave a page to look for another page. In the grand scheme of things to folks visiting the site, the changes result in a much more intuitive and fluid interface.
As of this posting, the Action Figure Archive is the only section that has been completed, but there are many more to come. Kudos to good friend of GeneralsJoes Terry Dizard and Phil Donnelly for all of the work they put in, and big props to the tech guys for building this all out. They made a great resource even better.
Check out the new Action Figure Archive now!

It’s the end of times! A G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club exclusive review on GeneralsJoes and it’s of the 12″ figure!
Truth be told, I thought both exclusives this year were pretty darn cool, and many fans agreed with me, including Twitter friend Chad Lawless who was extremely cool enough to do a review of this great looking figure for me.
Check out the review at my G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club section, and click the link directly below.
Great review by Chad! Meanwhile, you can expect a review of Footloose by yours truly within the next 24 hours!
by generalsjoes | May 2, 2012 | G.I. Joe, G.I. Joe Special Ops, G.I. Joe Video Game
As if G.I. Joe: Retaliation wasn’t enough, we’ve got the upcoming social media G.I. Joe: Special Ops online game that is looking more out of this world with every reveal! Today we’re introduced to the Special Ops version of Roadblock, Lifeline, Buzzer, Dr. Mindbender, the Cobra Stun and G.I. Joe: Wolverine, and things are looking awesome. Very much a vintage aesthetic, with some neat 30th Anniversary twists.
Lifeline is clearly based on the way the 30th Anniversary figure looks, with those unique differences from the classic version. Roadblock, on the other hand, is looking like his old school Tiger Force version. Pretty awesome.
Check out the latest details at the Special Ops website on SyFy.com, and I’ve mirrored some nice images below. I mean, doesn’t it seem like we’ve been waiting for some kind of game like this forever? When have we gotten such character and vehicle-accurate renders for any kind of video game? I’m getting pretty excited to check this out, just in case you couldn’t tell. I’ve mirrored darn near every image we’ve seen so far, check out the most recent ones on the end.

More great press coming out of Cinemacon last week, this time from Slashfilm, who have posted a very extensive interview with Jon Chu. While there aren’t a ton of details or new spoilers revealed throughout this particular piece, they have a great discussion about G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and what was good and what potentially went wrong with that film.
Jon Chu has a terrific perspective on the Rise Of Cobra, and how the property emerged from that Hollywood infused production. I found it really interesting to read about his perspective on the 80’s universe and how that works with the whole “original Joe” idea with Bruce Willis.
Check out this great interview over on Slashfilm right here. It’s some good stuff.
Thanks to Jay from ENewsI for the heads up.

Wow, it’s hard to believe that it’s been a full year since the What’s on Joe Mind podcast launched, but the guys certainly know how to celebrate. Episode #52 features not just an interview with Michael Bell to celebrate, but we also opened our phone lines to all of our fans! For over three hours we had a constant stream of callers dialing in to shoot the breeze, ask questions, and just generally have some fun.
Not only that, but we had some old friends stop by and hang out on the show for a little while, which was a really fun, awesome experience.
I just happened to be running a little late for this one, but I should pop up about an hour into the episode, and eventually I don’t sound like I’m talking in a trash can. Listen to this landmark 1 year anniversary episode on Podbean.com, or check it out via the embedded player below. As always, the show notes will be after the jump.
