EXCLUSIVE – G.I. Joe: Retaliation Early Screening Footage Report

Good morning, G.I. Joe fans!  Well for folks who are eager to know what all the little details are for the upcoming G.I. Joe: Retaliation film, I have got a treat for you today.  Paramount did some footage screening for some very select individuals over the past week or two, and GeneralsJoes is lucky enough to have a few reports of that footage for you today!

A big friend of GeneralsJoes and the What’s on Joe Mind podcast Dave Tree from Roll Out Roll Call got to see this footage live and in person, and he did some fantastic work getting this intel dissected and reported to us.

Please keep in mind that some of the footage descriptions you read below could be considered spoilers!  If you are looking to go into the film clean and pure, you may want to avoid reading this post.  If you want to know as much as humanly possible, click the Read the Rest of the Story link below to read the full details!

As if the Dollar Store exclusives weren’t enough… VARIANTS?!?

Oh boy.  Gyre-Viper took the world by storm last week when he broke the news about the Dollar Store exclusive figures with a great vintage aesthetic.  Well, he’s about the blow the doors off again on JoeDeclassified.com.

Apparently these Dollar Store exclusive figures won’t just be appearing in one paint scheme…  check out this amazing new gallery below of fully repainted variant figures for the exclusive line!  We’ve got what almost looks like a T’Ginzu repaint Storm Shadow, a dark gray Duke, black Cobra Commander, comic deco Cobra Troopers, a green Shipwreck, and a pseudo Heavy Artillery Snake Eyes (from an old school Toys “R” Us Exclusive set).

Mind.  Blown.

And hey…look at those last few pictures.  Looks like ole Gyre-Viper has something else in the wings for us.  And if it’s in that stage of completion, I’d say release is almost guaranteed.

Ohhhhh yeeeeeeaah.

It’s official.  This is the week of G.I. Joe.

Dollar store exclusive G.I. Joe figures hit retail in the Philippines

Well look at that!  Over on HissTank.com Snakefox is reporting that he was able to score a case of the much sought after “Dollar Store” G.I. Joe figures at a local retailer in the  Philippines.

This is great news for Joe fans, as many of us have been drooling over these figures since they were first revealed just a week ago.  Snakefox reports that they are “3-4 dollars cheaper” than regular retail G.I. Joe figures.  Check out the discovery thread right here and look at the mirrored images below.

Oh, yeah, the G.I. Joe: Retaliation Amazon Exclusive pack figures revealed, too

To a resounding…  “bleh”.  Yeah, unfortunately very much unlike the G.I. Joe: Renegades 4-Pack, I find myself very unimpressed with the Retaliation one.  Destro from HissTank.com also posted that image, and it just looks like essentially the same figures that are in wave 1, with the addition of the variant “Black” Cobra Commander which many folks hypothesized would be in this set.  Pretty boring.  I don’t even see many differences deco-wise.

Check out the mirrored image below.

Image reveals product within the Amazon.com G.I. Joe: Renegades 4-Pack

Thanks to Destro from HissTank.com for posting an image that reveals some details about the Amazon Exclusive G.I. Joe: Renegades 4-Pack story we broke early this week.  This single image is truly fascinating.  Check it out below:

Uhhh WOW.

Yeah, these are not straight-up repaints of figures we got already.  That right there looks like at least some new tooling.  Duke is obviously the same with the addition of recolored Cobra Trooper legs (don’t know how I feel about that).  But Storm Shadow is considerably different.  The head sculpt looks more animated, the proportions of the arms (not to mention the sleeveless look) are certainly different.  Very, very interesting.  Snake Eyes is a little tough to tell, though the feet at least look different.

And is it just me, or are there some different hip joints going on there?

Plus, look at the feet.  The sculpt there looks exaggerated, too.  Maybe I’m wrong, but I’m seriously wondering if these were some of the “animated” style figures we’d heard about before the outcry moved us back to the more realistic style.  Very interesting.  I just went from pretty excited to absolutely ecstatic.  Here’s hoping we get to see some of these figures in more detail soon, this is just aching to be dissected.

Fantastic.

UPDATE – As commentor Plokoon5 points out as well, it looks like Duke has G.I. Joe: Renegades Law’s hands instead of his original hands, which is a significant improvement to the figure as well.  It took one of the glaring flaws in that figure and improved it 100%.  Good observation.
