Hot Toys G.I. Joe: Retaliation Roadblock is incoming!

Anyone who pre-ordered the Hot Toys 12″ G.I. Joe: Retaliation Roadblock figure has likely already gotten their shipping notice, but if you haven’t for some reason, expect it soon!  Mine is slated to arrive on Thursday, and I’m pretty fired up for it.

Meanwhile, HotToys.com has posted a plethora of new images of the upcoming figure, and even a YouTube video showing how to change his uniform!  Anyone who has messed with these intricate 12″ figures before knows the challenge involved in doing that, so check it out, it might be helpful.

You can still order your very own G.I. Joe: Retaliation Roadblock from Sideshow Collectibles!  Click the banner below to order, and then check out the mirrored images and embedded video below.

Hot Toys debuts blogger images of G.I. Joe: Retaliation Roadblock

Throughout the release process, Hot Toys typically releases a series of images taken by bloggers who have had direct access to their action figure releases, and this holds true with their upcoming G.I. Joe: Retaliation Roadblock figure release. The Hot Toys Facebook page has unloaded with well over seventy images of G.I. Joe: Retaliation Roadblock and some of these pictures are blowing me away.

This figure, without a doubt, looks to be the flagship of the Hot Toys G.I. Joe: Retaliation line, with layered body armor, different shirts, a fully functional Battle Kata weapons system, as well as the M249 SAW and deadly movie accurate uniform. The face sculpt does look just a bit hit or miss in my opinion, but soup to nuts this representation of Roadblock is spectacular.

Check out the Hot Toys Facebook Page for the full gallery, and a bunch of the images are mirrored below.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation prep revisited – The History of Roadblock

So, the cool guys at the Cold Slither Podcast Tweeted out a link to one of my old articles covering the history of Roadblock for folks who needed to bone up on their G.I. Joe history before catching G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

That kicked a reminder at me that maybe I should get that post back up on top since G.I. Joe: Retaliation has officially opened and there might be people wondering just who this Roadblock dude is.  You can see the original post right here, but I’ve also reposted it at the Read the Rest of the Story link below.

Getting ever closer… Reason #2 why G.I. Joe: Retaliation will be great!

It’s been a long road, but here we are, almost at the end…  We’ve plowed through 38 reasons already, and today, on the eve of the reported G.I. Joe: Retaliation release, Twitziller comes up with the 39th.

#2:

A fantastic concept and the perfect extension of G.I. Joe’s semi-futuristic background, the Battle Kata vest and weapons system has been something that fans and toy makers have latched onto ever since it was first revealed.  The armored vest with carefully placed sheaths and holsters has become Roadblock’s trademark look, and Hasbro has amazingly been able to translate the components into the 4″ scale toy.  It’s crazy because it seems so close to reality, yet still maintains that close line to science fiction that is G.I. Joe’s specialty.

Characters I’m most looking forward to seeing in G.I. Joe: Retaliation

Larry Hama has always established that G.I. Joe isn’t necessarily about war, action, ninjas, or gun battle…at its core, it is about the characters.  It is the personality of the characters that keeps them alive and keeps them viable throughout the years.

I would maintain that this remains true in Hollywood as well, and that the translation of these characters into film is equally important for the movie to remain timeless.  After all, we don’t all remember the fantastic Aliens movie because of the gun fights, right?  We remember it because of characters like Hicks, Ripley, and Hudson.  THEY are what made that film, not splattering acid blood all over the place.

So now that things are starting to take shape around G.I. Joe: Retaliation, which characters am I most looking forward to seeing in action?  Let’s break it down after the jump:
