So did you think 2012 was a slow year for G.I. Joe? While the fine folks behind the What’s on Joe Mind Podcast did drop down their recording schedule a bit to accommodate a slow trickle of Joe news, there were still many exciting G.I. Joe events to talk about.
From animated voice actors to movie news and toy reports, What’s on Joe Mind covered the gamut of G.I. Joe news and events for the year.
Even with a much slower recording schedule in the back half of 2012, it was tough to pick out 12 isolated episodes, but with Gary and Mike’s help, somehow I made due.

Toy fans of all ages at this point are familiar with the exploits of Robot Chicken, and in this special Christmas episode we get an awesome cameo by the man himself, Larry Hama! It’s a pretty funny episode with some NSFW language, so continue at your own risk. Find it on AdultSwim.com or embedded below.
IWD Publishing has released their solicitation list for March, 2013, and of course we’ve got the G.I. Joe titles listed here. G.I. Joe: Special Missions kicks off in March, with the Cobra Files coming in April.
I’m loving the cover of the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero book, too… Torpedo FTW.

I’m sure Larry Hama had no idea of the firestorm of fan speculation he would cause by throwing one little head shot in G.I. Joe #1. Initially just an homage to Marvel editor Jim Shooter, this mysterious G.I. Joe character was never meant to be a full time member.
Devils’ Due Publishing (with Hama doing the writing chores) ran with this idea in their G.I. Joe: DeClassified series, a fantastic series that explored the beginnings of the G.I. Joe team in ways that hadn’t yet been revealed. Shooter emerged as an actual character, a mysterious female sniper who served behind the scenes and helped the original 13 along without them even realizing it.
Now an enterprising G.I. Joe fan is taking that ball and running with it. Since Shooter appeared in the comics and at least sorta became an official component of the Real American Hero mythos, now we need an action figure right? Over on Kickstarter Falcone is attempting to produce a series of Shooter figures to satisfy those long time o-ring fans who are looking to dive back into the old school pool.
Are you an o-ring fan? Would you just like a great looking Shooter figure to supplement your original 13? Check out the project on Kickstarter and toss some support Falcone’s way. Check out the full details right here.
As I started reading the latest issue of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero, I was having an internal struggle with myself over whether or not I’d be able to squirrel away the time to review the issue. As I flipped through each page I assessed whether or not I wanted to discuss certain aspects of this story, with Hama’s usual writing skills and Gallant’s impeccable artistic slant.
Even though this issue maintained the level of excellence that I’ve come to expect, I had to judge how much free time I had and when I might get 10 minutes aside to type up a review… I really wasn’t sure.
Then I got to page 19.
Yeah, that made up my mind. Click the Read the Rest of the Story link below to check out the review.
