ComingSoon.net interviews an array of G.I. Joe: Retaliation personalities

With CinemaCon come and gone a couple of weeks ago, online sites are now starting to reveal the video interviews they did during the event.  Yesterday we saw a great interview with Jon Chu, and today Coming Soon posts a nicely edited series of conversations with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Adrianne Palicki, DJ Cotrona, and director Jon M. Chu.

They all reflect nicely on the film’s place in G.I. Joe continuity (a “reboot” without really being a “reboot”), and how much the toyline and comic influenced the story they are telling this time around.  Quite interesting to note as well is The Rock speaking about Roadblock’s time training with Snake Eyes, and specifying that the character does not have an Arashikage tattoo in the film, but he may have one for “the next film”.  He says that with tongue firmly in cheek, but it was certainly cool to see it mentioned.  Sounds more and more like the whole Roadblock as a ninja element is something being much more marketed for toy purposes, and not so much a major part of the film itself, especially since we already saw Roadblock train with Snake Eyes in the IDW Prequel limited series.

Check out the interview on ComingSoon.com, or the embedded video below.

We’ve seen our share of video interviews…  this one is exceptionally well presented and has some great information and insight.  Definitely check this one out.

Another cool Cobra Trooper image from Cobra Special Forces

This is starting to become a regular occurrence.  Over on the Cobra Special Forces Facebook Page, another image of Cobra Troopers has been posted, this time with the troopers in attack formation on a raft.  It’s a neat image because the faces of the troopers appear to be covered this time around rather than having those somewhat strange open face helmets.

Check out Cobra Special Forces for the original image, and see it mirrored below.

Excellent G.I. Joe: Retaliation Cobra Commander image from Cobra Special Forces

Social media continues to infect G.I. Joe: Retaliation, this time with the Cobra Special Forces on Facebook.  They’ve been slowly releasing images of various Cobra Troopers and even Firefly, but this image might just top them all!

Here we see the immortal Cobra Commander standing menacingly in front of a Cobra symbol on the wall of his lair.  A very malicious, very cool image.  Check it out at Cobra Special Forces, or mirrored below.

Lee Byung Hun talks Storm Shadow’s death and resurrection in G.I. Joe: Retaliation

Well, he refers to it, though he admits up front that there is no real clear indication as to exactly how the character survived.  At Soompi.com, several quotes from the Korean actor reveal that Storm Shadow does indeed apparently return from the dead in the sequel, though Lee Byung-Hun admits the way he does it isn’t necessarily clearly explained.

“In the film there is no separate explanation. However, there is a hint as to how ‘Storm Shadow’ resurrects.” The star added, “I really like the role of Storm Shadow. In order to act him out, I studied his character history and he was the most charming character of G.I. Joe. In the film there is a division between the Cobra army and Joes, however Storm Shadow does not really belong to either group. I liked the fact that the character was a lonely fighter.”

So, according to the actor himself, there is no real “separate explanation” but a hint as to how the character resurrects.  Something tells me the hint lies within the clear, water-filled tubes, but I guess we will find out June 29th!

Check out Soompi.com for more details.

Mexican G.I. Joe: Retaliation one sheet may be my favorite one yet!

Now this poster is pretty cool.  Not a whole lot of action, just featuring mostly head shots of the cast, we get some pretty cool layout, some London damage in the background, and a very cool shot of Cobra Commander, Storm Shadow, and a masked Firefly all along the bottom.  I dig this poster big time.

Thanks to NFCJD for pointing it out, and you can find it on ImpAwards.com.

And what the hell.  Still no Flint?  It’s a conspiracy, dammit!  Don’t worry, DJ Cotrona, there are fans out here who still love you.
