Over at JoeBattleLines, Alexx continues to pump out the “Alexx Shorts” which are quickly becoming less short and more full-fledged reviews. He’s started diving more headlong into the Pursuit of Cobra stuff, which I’m psyched to see. Below I’m mirroring some of his great images with links to the reviews themselves on JBL. Some very cool stuff. Steel Marauder w/ Kickstart
I gotta say that Pursuit of Cobra Storm Shadow is really growing on me. He was one of the weak links when I first saw him, and to an extent, I suppose he still is, but I find myself really drawn towards the middle eastern design of his uniform, and those weapons are sick. I’ve got one in the wings, prepping to review it, I find myself really looking forward to doing it now, more than I was previously.
Like me, you probably thought the Hailstorm was all she wrote for the Canadian JoeCon exclusives this year. Apparently not!
Revealed today on JoeCanuck.com as a special limited edition “Attendee Exclusive”, we have a Cobra North version of the fan favorite Cobra SNAKE!
Awesome! Love the blue. Check out the filecard and full details on JoeCanuck. Canadian JoeCon is THIS weekend. Are you going?

Further casting aside the shackles of Hollywood tie-ins, GIJoe.com has undergone a total remodel to reflect the current theme for The Pursuit of Cobra! With a much cooler blue color pallet, a new Cobra Commander wallpaper, links to the latest Operation: HISS webisodes, and some awesome images, we can now consider ourselves full into Pursuit of Cobra mode.
For some it’ll be a very welcome shift. While I loved much of what the Rise of Cobra toyline had to offer, I’m also eager to step forward into the amazing Pursuit of Cobra line, and really love the look of the site.
Check it out right here!
Ohhh, good stuff. Like last month, issue #157 seems to have the mojo back again, and I am in LOVE with that Rod Whigham cover. Total throwback to the 80’s. Awesome. Issue #157 comes out on Wednesday, check out the 5-page preview below. G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #157
Larry Hama (w) • Agustin Padilla (a) • Padilla, Rod Whigham (c)
Relentless Cobra hit teams go after the disbanded and outlawed G.I. Joe team. The beleaguered Joes converge on their pre-set rallying point, determined to launch an organized counter-attack and bring the fight back to Cobra. Meanwhile, cohesion within Cobra ranks begins to deteriorate as Dr. Venom returns from the dead! *2 regular covers will be shipped in a 1-to-1 ratio.
FC • 32 pages • $3.99
We’ve seen the figures…we’ve seen the box and the comic. Now we finally get to see the newest addition to Cobra’s air arsenal… the Hailstorm!
Awesome! As a huge fan of the Firebat, I love seeing it here. Some great custom stickers as well, and I think once everyone sees how the whole story comes together in the exclusive comic book, they will be lining up for one of these. Great stuff!
The JoeCanuck guys have also posted the filecard and instruction manual, so check those out at JoeCanuck.com! Coolness.
Well, I was waiting with baited breath today, hoping for a Hailstorm reveal, but instead we got something almost as nice… almost.
The guys behind the Canadian JoeCon have revealed the fantastic looking box for the convention set as well as a cool little YouTube video showing of the Convention Exclusive comic. You can check both out on JoeCanuck.com! I’ve also embedded the video below.
This weekend! Hope some folks are going and plan to have some fun for me.
Just as G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra was starting to fade into the rear view mirror, The Wrap brings it back into focus by reporting that according to sources, Stephen Sommers will be coming back to direct the G.I. Joe follow up sequel. They also report that the right people are happy with the script that Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have turned in.
Does this mean anything substantial? Probably not…especially because a Hasbro rep sort of side-stepped the question during a recent video interview with the Motley Fool (an interesting point brought forward by Entertainment News International’s Jay Cochran courtesy of his Twitter account). Honestly, mentally I’ve moved on to Renegades, and I think part of me is looking forward to that at least a little bit more right now, but I was pretty unashamed with my enjoyment of the first film, and if the follow up can capture the same energy, but perhaps redirect it in a way closer to the mythology, maybe the Hollywood franchise can become something the fans are more into.
Time will tell.
Frequent GeneralsJoes contributor (a feat for which I am endlessly grateful) cmderinchief has posted yet another video review! Not content to cover just one item, though, he does a quick review of the TRU Exclusive Spirit, Quick Kick, the Pursuit of Cobra Duke & Snow Job, and also manages to say some words about the Canadian JoeCon convention sets!
Wow. Check out all the Gary Goodness right below.
