GeneralsJoes Reviews Rise of Cobra TRU Doc and Shipwreck

It seems only appropriate as August 1st looms tomorrow, and I’ve officially lived out my promise for one review per day until the “official” Pursuit of Cobra launch, that I do a review of two figures that were walking the line between Cobra “Rising” and the  Joes “Pursuing”.
While the fifth wave of single pack figures for G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra officially kicked off the whole “pursuit” theme, both Doc and Shipwreck from the Toys “R” Us Headquarters for Heroes subline carried that torch as well.  Both sporting “Arctic Assault” tags on their packaging, and both quite obviously designed to chase Destro through the snow and ice.
So as these figures bridged that gap between The Rise of Cobra and the Pursuit of Cobra, I figure it’s apt that I use them to bridge the gap here as well.
Gap?  Did I say gap?  Yeah, right.  I’ve currently got about 125 images taken for upcoming Pursuit of Cobra product already, and while I certainly cannot promise the one review per day quota will continue to be met past August 1st, you have no worries, reviews will still be coming fast and furious.  I’ve got both new Mechs in the wings as well as the two Wave 1 Alpha vehicles, and I still hope to finish off the Wave 1 Single Packs before too long.
The things I do for you people.
Anyway.  Hit up the G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra Review Page or just check out the Doc and Shipwreck reviews directly.  Enjoy.

JoeCon Exclusives: How they stack up since 2002

It has always been a popular topic of discussion to rank the convention sets since the 3.75″ scale was re-introduced in 2002.  What often gets lost are the convention EXCLUSIVES that are part of the set.  For those of you who are not familiar with this, the Exclusives are separate from the con set.  They are typically an extension of the con set story line and normally are more remembered than the actual set itself.  The con exclusives normally are highly sought after in the secondary markets and they really cause a lot of collector angst if they decided to pass on it the first time to only see the prices triple or quadruple later down the road.  These things are expensive enough, but have to pay four times as much can put a real pinch in your hobby.  In my list, I did not include the convention attendee free exclusive.  Technically, I consider those part of the con set. Basically, if it is anything I had to stand in line for in the club store, that is what is on this list.  On that basis, I did include the para-drop figure  even though they were given out a freebies early on, but now are either charged for or guarded by lock and key and David Lane.  Let’s take a look at the past 8 years a’la cmderinchief:

GeneralsJoes Reviews Rise of Cobra TRU Firefly

Okay, now that the Resolute figures are done, I’m moving back into “flashback” phase and trying to catch up, just a little bit.  I’m just sneaking this one in under the wire, as we’re approaching midnight here on the East Coast.
The TRU exclusive “Headquarters for Heroes” Firefly figure was the highlight figure of the first onslaught of Rise of Cobra figures, yet for some bizarre reason, I never reviewed it.  Well that changes right now.
Feel free to hit up my past Rise of Cobra reviews as well, if you’re bored on a Saturday night…

Diamond Release dates for Pursuit of Cobra Wave 2

Thanks to SNAKE EYES of HissTank.com for revealing the release dates for Pursuit of Cobra Wave 2 as revealed by Diamond Distribution.  But to me, the best news is this crazy high resolution images provided.  Nice!
Good grief I’m in love with the Pursuit of Cobra.  These are all exceedingly awesome looking figures.  Every freaking one of them.  I do hope Jungle-Viper looks okay without his monstrous backpack suit thing, because I’d love to use him as a more generic Cobra jungle operative…and yes, I understand Snake Eyes has “Tornado Action” and that figure looks pretty wonky, but I love it all, anyway.
Check out the mirrored images below.

The Guessing Game: 2011 Convention Site

Hey gang, Gary here for a very rare second article of the week.  I have been working on this for a while, so it was bound to be published sometime.
Let the speculation begin on where the 2011 convention will be.  Actually it has….
Frankly those new to the hobby were a little spoiled this go-around by having the club announce in Kansas City that we would be in Providence in 2010.  Con vets realize this is a rare but appreciated treat by the club to have all their eggs lined up enough to announce the next location less than a year out.  It seems like the BotCon’ers know where they are going to be next year, but what about Joe?  Back in 2003 and 2004, it was the norm for the club to announce, so rest assured, the club not announcing this time is not a sign of bad things, it is just a sign of the same ol’-same ol’ club that we know and love returning to normal.

“As you may, or may not know, my wife and I own two other businesses in our town. The lease is up on one, and we’re not renewing it. So, I’ve been completely and
totally pre-occupied with selling off it’s equipment, closing up shop, etc.which is why I haven’t had a chance to add any new content for the past few weeks. Come
August 1st, that will all be done, and I’ll get back to adding tons and tons of items and we’ll get JoeArmory back on track with weekly updates again.”
