by generalsjoes | Aug 10, 2010 | 5 Page Previews, G.I. Joe, G.I. Joe Comics, IDW
Tomorrow is new comic day, and if nothing else, IDW has made it so a new G.I. Joe title is released nearly every week, which is pretty cool to see. This week it’s the mainstream Joe title that gets it’s 21st issue. Issue #21 in G.I. Joe lore has become a special trademark, and this time around appears to be no different. If the 5-page preview is any indication, we’ll be treated to another silent issue, though there appear to be far less ninjas involved this time.
Check out the gallery below.

G.I. Joe #21
Chuck Dixon (w) • Alex Cal (a) • Kelsey Shannon, Robert Atkins (c)
Action at crush depth as Shipwreck and his crew board a massive COBRA submarine to take control. But the clock is ticking as a nuke set in a deep underwater trench could blow, killing them and dooming Scarlett and Ripcord. This special image and its incentive cover pay homage to the classic G.I. Joe #21 “silent issue” from yesteryear!
*2 regular covers will be shipped in a 1-to-1 ratio.

by generalsjoes | Aug 10, 2010 | G.I. Joe, G.I. Joe Toys, Pursuit of COBRA
Although I already have a nice number of Pursuit of Cobra items posted on the PoC Review Page, this begins the more official kick off of my Pursuit of Cobra reviews! Some of my previous reviews are based on pre-production items, or items I acquired prior to retail release, but the Mechs signify the first items I’ve bought from regular retail. Expect to see reviews continue full steam ahead until the first allotment of PoC greatness has been covered.

by generalsjoes | Aug 9, 2010 | 12" Scale, Customs, G.I. Joe, G.I. Joe Toys, G.I. Joe: Resolute, Kick Ass Custom
A little while ago I put some focus on a very cool 12″ Resolute Snake Eyes. Well, the guy who made it was selling it, and GeneralsJoes contributor Hawkwinter got his hands on it! Following, you can see his thoughts on this impressive looking custom of the coolest Snake Eyes figure evah!
This is a custom 12” Resolute Snake Eyes made by Toyphilia. (E-Bay seller name)
This stunning and incredibly accurate version of Snake Eyes was made using the Marvel Icons Punisher figure as a base. Resolute Snake Eyes detail was then added by adding epoxy putty and some attention to detail sculpting. Figure was then air brushed and hand-painted.
The big draw for someone like me is not only that this is based on the awesome Resolute version of Snake Eyes but that it’s exactly like the 3 3/4” figure just larger. I generally do not like the 12” figures as I find their clothes awkward looking and they just don’t look as cool as the 3 3/4” figures. Well this one does.
Now if only there were a matching Storm Shadow…….

by generalsjoes | Aug 6, 2010 | Comics and Cartoons, G.I. Joe, G.I. Joe: Renegades
With huge thanks to kennywr22 of HissTank.com for digging up some intel on the artists behind G.I. Joe Renegades. He has tracked down Clement Sauve, who is apparently, according to his portfolio, one of the designers involved with the upcoming animated series.
While the name might not sound familiar, Mr. Sauve has been involved with the G.I. Joe property before. Anyone who owns the Dreadnoks: Declassified trade paperback, his art is on the cover:

His DeviantArt page is also littered with very cool drawings and designs, though none of them are directly tied into G.I. Joe: Renegades. I’ve mirrored some of the art that’s more military in nature below, though don’t necessarily expect this to be the “Renegades” style. Very cool stuff, I know I’ll be watching this page closely.

When I first saw the tweets from the Hub this morning, who was commenting from the Television Critics’ Association I had a feeling some news would be coming out today. Not a whole lot, but we got a great idea of some of the voice cast who will be speaking through some of our favorite characters! A huge thanks to Toy News International for getting this information out there.
Not only am I going to talk about who the revealed voice actors are, I’m gonna give my own .02 on who they might be playing, as well as a link to their current resume. So, here’s the run down:
Lee Majors – Pretty self explanatory. A great resume, a surprise addition.
- Famous Roles – The Six Million Dollar Man, Steve Austin. The Fall Guy.
- Character Guess – General “Hawk” Abernathy. He has the age, he has the dignity and the attitude. I can’t see him playing anyone else.
Clancy Brown – A long and storied acting and voice acting career. If you’ve watched action cartoons over the past 10 years, you know the voice.
- Famous Roles – Shawshank Redeption; Lex Luthor (in Superman and Justice League animated series)
- Character Guess – Destro. He has that “holier than thou” corporate magnate flair. I would love to see this happen, I think he would make for an incredible James McCullen Destro.
Charlie Adler – Also has had a very long and illustrious career, and I can guarantee, nearly everyone reading this post has heard his voice.
- Famous Roles – Cobra Commander, Gung Ho, Flint (G.I. Joe: Resolute); Starscream (Transformers, Revenge of the Fallen, Transformers: Prime); Dr. Doom (The Super Hero Squad Show)
- Character Guess – Gotta be Cobra Commander. He did a fantastic job in Resolute as Cobra’s insidious leader, and it would be an awesome homage.
Jason Marsden – Not quite as well known as some of the other voice actors, but he’s definitely had a presence over the past number of years. Not quite as well known as his older brother James (Cyclops from the X-Men films)
- Famous Roles – Firefly (The Batman)
- Character Guess – Duke. Michael Bell’s early leaked comments reflected that fact, so this one is pretty much a known commodity.
Kevin Michael Richardson – Another name with a lot of voice acting experience, though you may not know him right off the tip of your tongue. He’s had a lot of great roles over the past several years.
- Famous Roles – The Joker (The Batman); Bishop (Wolverine and the X-Men); L. Thompson Lincoln/Tombstone (The Spectacular Spider-Man); Nick Fury (The Superhero Squad)
- Character Guess – Roadblock. He’s got the stature, he’s got the gravitas, and based on the characters he’s played, I think he would do a fantastic Roadblock.
Johnny Messner – Honestly, I had to look this one up. He’s had a long film career, mostly bit parts, and no real voice acting that I can find. Several CSI iterations, other television roles.
- Famous Roles – Tears of the Sun, Anacondas: Hunt for the Blood Orchid
- Character Guess – Not a clue, really. Flint perhaps?
This is sounding like a fantastic line up. Majors, Brown, Adler, and Richardson already have me fired up. These are guys we’ve heard in cartoons for a long time who have a lot of experience and bring some great talent to the table. Renegades is looking better by the day.

by generalsjoes | Aug 5, 2010 | G.I. Joe, Operation: H.I.S.S., Pursuit of COBRA
Hot on the heels of the Pursuit of Cobra revamp of GIJoe.com, Hasbro has also posted the latest installment of their much maligned Operation: HISS animated series. Check it out right here, and I’ve also grabbed some screen caps below.

Obviously the producers here know some of their past G.I. Joe history, with a nice little tribute to the Silent Issue… it still amazes me that these webisodes are so short, though. Tough to tell a decent story in 2 minutes.
by generalsjoes | Aug 5, 2010 | Customs, G.I. Joe, G.I. Joe Toys, Pursuit of COBRA, Sigma 6 (8" Scale)
When it comes to Mechs and the G.I. Joe universe, I would imagine most folks are either for them or against them. Either you can accept them into your current universe, or they are simply too futuristic and science fiction for you.
Well, I think it’s safe to say Werecat of JoeSightings and JoeBattleLines accepts them. In fact, using the Steel Marauder as well as the awesome Sigma 6 Iron Hammer, he has built a squad of mechs, each utilizing some different weaponry with some different specialties. There are some really awesome combinations here!
Check out the original thread on JoeBattleLines, and I’ve also mirrored some images below. I loved the Mechs anyway, but seeing this squad of them makes them even cooler…some great ideas here.
