GIJoe Collectors' Club confirms details on Adventure Team Sea Adventurer

I figured it was pretty much a done deal when the silhouette was shown alongside Dial Tone a short while ago, but the GI Joe Collectors Club has now confirmed that we will indeed be getting a Sea Adventurer to finish off the awesome Adventure Team figures, and he will come with a repainted Mantis vehicle from the Valor Vs. Venom and Rise of Cobra toy line.
Unfortunately, Lody from HissTank.com does not mention the initial source of this information, but I assume it’s from the latest Collectors’ Club newsletter, which should be arriving in some folks’ mailboxes currently.  Lody mentions the description saying that it will come with an Adventure Team Joe in blue, and a repaint of the Mantis submarine in white.
Toy Nutz, also on HissTank.com has also posted a customized version of the Mantis, with some approximation of what we might expect.  Gotta say, I’m not real big on the Mantis, but my twisted sense of completism will force me to pick this thing up.  The figure should be cool, and who knows, maybe I’ll warm up to the Mantis in person, but as it stands, not my first choice.
Check out the custom images below.  This is not necessarily an indication of what the final product will look like!

Possible pages for upcoming "Season 2" of IDW's G.I. Joe title

Recently revealed that IDW would be relaunching their mainline G.I. Joe title with a “Season 2” in early 2011, the fans have been speculating a bit on what that really means.  Upcoming G.I. Joe artist Javier Saltares has posted a number of pages on his eBay store, which appear to reveal potential upcoming events in the G.I. Joe title.  The listings all appear in the “Completed Items” of the store.
Highlights of these pages are appearances of Storm Shadow and Zartan…and one particular panel could reveal some heavy spoilers.
Check out the link, or the images (at your own risk if you want to avoid spoilers) themselves.  Thanks to regular GeneralsJoes reader m6d for the intel!

I’ll admit, I wasn’t too keen on the Saltares news…his style always seemed way too stylized to work for a more real world military book.  But I’ll be damned if these pages don’t look pretty nice.  Much more hard-edged and realistic than I’ve seen from him in the past, and I’m really liking this new take on Zartan (if that is who it is).

GeneralsJoes Reviews Totally Tubular 80's Toys by Mark Bellomo

Most G.I. Joe fans who have been around know the name Mark Bellomo.  Long time G.I. Joe fan, toy authority, and writer of the Ultimate Guide to G.I. Joe Volume 1 and the Ultimate Guide to G.I. Joe: Volume 2, Mr. Bellomo has been around the block for a long time, and is about as well educated a toy guy as I’ve met in my decades within this industry.
As such, whenever he’s producing a new volume, I always pay close attention.  This time around, he chose not to focus on a singular toyline and instead broadened his attention to an entire decade, working with Krause Publications to release Totally Tubular Toys of the 80’s.
I’ve gotten my hands on this fine new book, and I’ve posted a review for it right here.  Trust me, if you’re a child of the 80’s, you want this book.  If you know a child of the 80’s, you want this book.  If you just like the toys from the 80’s, you want this book.  A terrific read that manages to go above and beyond mere toys, and really look at the entire commercial structure of our favorite decade.
Check out the review here.
And if you like the looks of the book, keep your eyes peeled to GeneralsJoes this week, as I’ll be interviewing the author Mark Bellomo and posting it later this week.  He’s a smart guy who knows the industry well, and always has some great insight.  It’ll be a must read, I guarantee it.

Renegades Duke turn-around posted on DeviantArt

Nope, it ain’t much, but over on DeviantArt.com, G.I. Joe: Renegades artist jones-z-kitty has posted a “turn around” for the G.I. Joe: Renegades version of Duke.  This is essentially an idea of what the head will look like from all angles.  It’s in black and white, but for those of us who are Renegades enthusiasts, it is another cool little tidbit as we press onward to late November.
Check out the mirrored image below, and a big thanks to eagle-eyed folks at The Terror Drome for digging the info up!

No Hub? No problem – G.I. Joe: Renegades will also be online

As today progressed, and the official Twitter page for The Hub announced that several of their programs would be available online at HubWorld.com, I began wondering if original fare like G.I. Joe: Renegades would get the same treatment.
Well, apparently not content to just wonder, the guys at Toy News International actually went to Hasbro and asked ’em.  The answer is a resounding “YES”.  The actual text of the response is below:

“The Hub will begin streaming episodes of G.I. Joe: Renegades on www.hubworld.com following the show’s debut this fall. Check www.hubworld.com for more details in the coming weeks.”

Excellent.  A big thanks to the Toy News International guys for going straight to the source.

Yes, another G.I. Joe: Renegades air date addendum… and a Mea Culpa

Okay, I’m having a rough couple of days.   Not only did I totally miss news about the 12″ Cobra Viper from my Sideshow Collectibles update yesterday, but today I totally misread a press release for  Transformers: Prime and insinuated that a later release date for Prime would likely invalidate a G.I. Joe: Renegades rumor that we’ve heard.
Well, I read the press release with listed episodes more closely and found that… whaddya know?  It looks like this might be confirmation for the G.I. Joe: Renegades air date, not a conflict of it.  While the press release proudly advertises the 5-day Transformers: Prime mini-series event, reading more closely indicates that the debut for Transformers: Prime will indeed be 4:00 – 4:30 on November 26th, as indicated from previous stories.
The exact schedule can be seen below:
“Transformers: Prime” – Part 1 of “Darkness Rising” (premiere: Friday, November 26, 4 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Encore presentations: 6 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. and 12 a.m. – 12:30 a.m.; Monday, November 29, 6:30 p.m. – 7 p.m.; Tuesday, November 30, 6 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, December 4, 1:30 p.m. – 2 p.m.)
So, yes…I jumped the gun a bit, and in fact, Transformers: Prime will make it’s Hub debut on Friday, November 26th from 4:00pm – 4:30pm.  So that means chances are pretty good that the previously leaked schedule for G.I. Joe: Renegades will debut the same day.
Now if The Hub would just announce something officially so we could all stop hypothesizing…  😉
