G.I. Joe: Retaliation perspective from Mike Ryan at the Huffington Post

While we don’t appear to have any mainstream reviews of G.I. Joe: Retaliation yet, we’ve seen some quick-hit response from Larry Hama on Facebook, and now Mike Ryan, Senior Entertainment Writer for the Huffington Post has put his .02 out there as well.

In all fairness, I need to mention that Mike Ryan is a G.I. Joe nerd, and is specifically a Larry Hama comic fan, so he’s “in the trenches” with us so to speak.  He’s not a true outside person reviewing the film on its merits alone.  But he has some really great perspective and I truly hope his reaction matches the reactions of many other people who go see the film.

Check it out over on the Huff Post Blog.

Getting down to the wire…reason 7 why G.I. Joe: Retaliation will… Rock?

No pun intended in the title…  ah, who am I kidding?  Pun definitely intended.  It’s a Friday, which means Twitziller is focusing on a major factor today, and that factor is one that many of us can probably guess, especially based on my horrible pun up above.

I know I’ve mentioned in the past how humorous it is that only ten years ago, Hasbro could barely even keep the copyright active for Roadblock, and here we are with the character the focal point of the entire film franchise.  I think the character is a great choice, and the actor is equally great for this role.  So why does Roadblock make sense for the film?  He’s a larger than life character, with a lot of personality.  He’s someone who still has some open ends in his history, yet he’s familiar enough with fans to resonate.  He was a focal point in the cartoon, and had some very key roles in the comics as well, and was one of the few characters who could transcend both.

GeneralsJoes wraps Kre-O week with Ninja Temple and Dragonfly!

Wow…somehow I did it.  I really didn’t think I’d be able to make this all happen, but I managed to get all of the G.I. Joe Kre-O sets reviewed in a single week.  Yeah, I’m patting myself on the back for that one, deal with it.  Check out the G.I. Joe Kre-O review page for all of the details on these terrific sets, or hit up the direct links below:

Also I was able to get the Battle Platform review updated with images of the RAM motorcycle.  I apologize for that little snafu, but all is right with the world.  Thanks to all the folks who gave me a heads up.

Dwayne Johnson to appear on Jay Leno tonight

I haven’t seen it advertised myself, but GeneralsJoes reader Mike I. is telling me that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is slated to appear on the Jay Leno show tonight, likely to promote both G.I. Joe: Retaliation and WWE Wrestlemania.

They often show clips from the films actors are there to promote, so Joe fans may want to keep an eye on this one tonight.

Thanks to Mike for the information.

TV Spots continue to hurtle at us unabated for G.I. Joe: Retaliation

We’re counting down to the final week, so it only makes sense for these TV spots to keep coming!  For folks who are concerned about seeing too much of the film before the film’s release, though, don’t worry…there isn’t much new footage here, but just enough to make things interesting.  One TV Spot has Snake Eyes running down some stairs, rattling off gunfire, while another has a great shot of Cobra Commander’s helicopter.  Check out these three new TV spots embedded below.

G.I. Joe Collectors Club posts 2013 JoeCon Schedule of Events

Need to plan your convention experience?  Well, the G.I. Joe Collectors Club has just made it a whole lot easier.  They’ve posted the schedule for the 2013 G.I. Joe Convention right here.  Featuring a lot of the great panels you’ve come to expect from Hasbro, the voice actors, Larry Hama and Kirk Bozigian, this year they’ve also branched out some.

Dave Tree is travelling over from the UK to do a Palitoy Action Force seminar and there’s What’s on Joe Mind Live–…

Wait.  What?

Dammit Godsoe, you never tell me anything!

Eight days until G.I. Joe: Retaliation and reason 8 why it’ll be great!

I’m sure Twitziller along with myself, realizes that the release date for Retaliation has shifted, but sticking with the theme is the only way to do this thing…see it all the way through to the end.  And speaking of the end, I think we all realize one of the climactic battles of the film will involve the Ripsaw tank and HISS Tanks going at it, and this is what Twitziller talks about today!

How awesome is that shot?  I’ve seen every teaser, every TV spot, and every trailer so far, and seen them multiple times, but I never really picked that particular scene out.  I’m glad Twitziller did.  Holy crap if that  doesn’t accentuate the cool factor of vehicle battle in this film, I don’t know what does.

State of the art vehicular technology, rolling over land, hurling raw power at each other.  Yeah, that looks amazing, and it’s truly an overlooked piece of the G.I. Joe mythology.  This scene looks like it’s going to be a blast!
