Like the Rise of COBRA, the November 3rd date has floated around for G.I. Joe: Resolute for a while now, and TVShowsonDVD.com has confirmed this information with Paramount and Hasbro reps. Unfortunately, this news comes at a price… apparently, G.I. Joe: Resolute will NOT be available on Blu-Ray. Crap on a stick.
There are some interesting tidbits about release, included in post on the site below:
This past Friday we had the heads-up that the 2009 [adult swim] animated series G.I. Joe: Resolute would be coming to DVD on November 3rd, per advance listings (now both offering discounted pre-orders) at Amazon.com (USA branch; $19.99 SRP) and Amazon.ca (Canadian branch; CA$22.99 SRP).
Today Hasbro and distributor Paramount Home Entertainment confirmed this info, verifying the release date and offering new details about the content. This single-disc release has all 11 installments, which were just 5 minutes each plus a double-length finale (it was originally designed for web delivery, before being picked up for episodic broadcast). All 60 minutes are included on this DVD, plus “exclusive missing footage” according to information the studio provided to retailers today. Video is listed as full screen.
Additional information was found and posted by Brenden Fletcher at The Blu-ray Blog, who begins by lamenting that this release will NOT be available in the Blu-ray format. Brenden’s obviously a fan of the production, and liked it better than the theatrical film (which comes to home video on the same release day). He passes on that the audio for G.I. Joe: Resolute will be in Dolby Digital English 5.1, and that bonus material will consist of a “Now You know” Teaser Promo, Interviews with the Filmmakers, Storyboards, and the “JOE Files”. Brenden tells us this info came from a press release, which somehow missed coming to our in-box, we suppose.
But we DO have a look at what might possibly be the cover art for this release. It’s an early, small (and fuzzy) peek at what may only be some temp art that the studio put in the retailer info, or it could possibly be the front of the actual box. Keep in mind that this may NOT be it, and that even if it is, there could still be changes. But we’re going to go ahead and share it with all of our excited readers nonetheless:

Recent answers from Hasbro on the latest G.I. Joe Q & A clued us in that Resolute should be appearing on DVD this fall… but thanks to Storm Shadow on JoeCanuck.com, we see that the Canadian branch of Amazon, Amazon.ca has the Resolute DVD listed for a November 3rd release!
Whether that holds true for the American release or not remains to be seen, but it certainly seems like a potentially accurate timeframe.

Mere days after the unreleased Training Snake Eyes was shown on JoeIntel, test shot maestro Gyre-Viper at HissTank.com has shown some pictures of the unreleased “Iron Klaw Trooper” that was initially slated to come with another wave of Comic Packs before the line shifted to a movie theme. Check out the mirrored images below.

This… is awesome. From what I’ve seen there hasn’t been much unreleased stuff that has really made me sad that it won’t make it to retail. Resolute stuff aside of course (which looks to be coming in a boxed set in 2010). But this Iron Klaw Trooper? Damn, man. I love it. I was a big fan of the Extreme universe, but the figures were horrible, it’s freaking great to see those characters worked into the Anniversary line, even with just a new head, beret, weapon, and webgear. The base figure looks to be an Iron Grenadier Destro. Regardless of all this, the figure is very cool, and I hope Hasbro finds some way to work this tooling into the Pursuit of COBRA line. I really love the face sculpt and skull-themed webgear. Very cool figure.
He also showcased some images from the upcoming Pursuit of COBRA Arctic Destro, which is another pretty neat one. Those ice-cased accessories are pretty cool and the sculpt is great. Check out those images below.

JoeIntel.com is quickly making a name for itself as a “go to” site for some great G.I. Joe tidbits, and it continues the tradition with a very nice assortment of images of the unreleased “Training Snake Eyes”. This figure was a Resolute Comic Pack figure, originally slated to come with Night Creeper, but never got released to retail. Just looking at the figure itself, it doesn’t really seem to fit the Rise of COBRA aesthetic, so I’m not sure it’s something we’ll ever see at this point. That wave of comic packs was originally going to feature Duke (Scuba) vs. Lamprey as well as Snake Eyes (Training) vs. Night Creeper.
notpicard from JoeIntel managed to get his hands on this very unique item, and was gracious enough to share images on JoeIntel, and allow GeneralsJoes to host them as well. Like Storm Shadow (who came with some Dice-like accessories), Snake Eyes comes with some similar gear as Slice did back in the vintage days. Check out the thread at JoeIntel here, and take a peek at the images below.

Amongst the glut of cancelled product at the tail end of the Anniversary line, the Snake Eyes from the Snake Eyes vs. Night Creeper Comic Pack has been one of the very few never revealed in figure form. Well, that’s all changed, thanks to some digging by The Terror Drome. In fact, a few images have shown up for this Training Snake Eyes, some there and some from HissTank.com.
This figure actually has an interesting history…initially, the Comic Pack was shown with a very striking cover that clearly showed a Resolute themed Snake Eyes facing off against the Night Creeper. Somewhere along the line, though, the decision was made to instead use more reused tooling, and this Training Snake Eyes was put together using Storm Shadow parts with a new head. Like Storm Shadow (who has some Dice stuff worked in there), Snake Eyes features some cool gear that could easily be utilized for COBRA Ninja Slice. Check out the images below.
