What’s on Joe Mind outtakes and “Lost Episodes” are online

As part of the Geekcast Radio Network, we were asked to come up with some “Top 5” and “Bottom 5” G.I. Joe items for 2011 as part of a yearly recap episode.  Well, the awesome guys at GCRN have allowed us to post our portion of the recap show as a stand alone on our Podbean Page.  Not a real long show, but a nice little bonus for folks who are feeding for more WOJM.  Hit up the embedded player below as well:

Along with this “lost episode”, Gary, the editing king, has also been posting some great outtakes on the Facebook page.  These are things that were cut from final recorded episodes.  Check out the What’s on Joe Mind Facebook page for full details.

Good stuff here and kudos to Gary for getting it all together and posted!  Keep checking our Facebook page to see what other little gems get lost on the cutting room floor.

G.I. Joe: Renegades writer Henry Gilroy reveals tidbits about the animated series

One of the reasons why G.I. Joe: Renegades was such a great show is likely due to the exceptional writing team in charge of the show.  Star Wars: The Clone Wars veteran Henry Gilroy was at the top of the writers’ food chain alongside Marty Isenberg, who was one of the brainchildren behind Transformers: Animated.

In a recent episode of Star Wars themed podcast The Forcecast, Henry Gilroy came on to talk a bit about his work on Clone Wars, and also revealed some juice about the potential future of G.I. Joe: Renegades.  Hint –  there isn’t one.  🙁

You can check out the episode right here, and the Renegades talk is very brief (around the 58 minute and 54 second mark).  I’ve also transcribed the information below…with a healthy dose of paraphrasing, so definitely listen to the episode for the accurate phrasing.

The Forcecast: Season 2 of Renegades, when are we going to see it?

Henry Gilroy: Actually, you’re probably not going to…  if you watch Renegades and saw the new trailer for G.I. Joe 2, it’s basically the same plot.  The next incarnation of G.I. Joe animated is probably going to have something to do with the movie.

The Forcecast: I’m really disappointed about G.I. Joe…

Henry Gilroy: There’s been talk of maybe… doing something to tie up the series, which may or may not happen…we can always hold out hope for Renegades.

So, really kind of confirmed what we’d already suspected.  G.I. Joe: Renegades isn’t on so much of a “hiatus” as a “retirement” with the next iteration (if there is one) focusing more on the Retaliation universe.

Gilroy also mentions that he is leaving Hasbro to work on another project..a Hulk animated series with Paul Dini.  So it sounds like whatever next version of G.I. Joe animation there might be, he won’t be involved, which is a shame.

Thanks very much to Paul Timmermans who left the info on the What’s on Joe Mind Facebook page.

What’s on Joe Mind landmark 38th episode featuring Jason Marsden online now

Why is it a landmark?  Well, if you count all of our regular episodes, plus all of the special editions, we have, from an episodic standpoint, now become the longest running G.I. Joe focused podcast on the internet!  We, of course, only have all of the listeners to thank for motivating us to continue pushing out this train wreck week after week…

To celebrate, not only did we get a barrage of voicemails and not only did we talk to Jason from Atomic Martians, but another Jason joined us on the episode this week…none other than Jason Marsden!  You might know him better as Duke from G.I. Joe: Renegades!

Knowing how much of a Renegades fanboy I am, you can imagine this was a huge treat for me and for the podcast, and we can’t thank Mr. Marsden enough for sparing an hour of his very busy life to join us on the show.

In return, locate him on Twitter and give him a follow to hear what latest projects he’s got going on, including a new original web series, Transformers Rescue Bots (airing February 18th on The Hub) and a lot more!

Check out the latest episode on our Podbean page or hit up the embedded player below.  Once again, a big thanks to Jason Marsden for joining us on the show, look forward to some more great guests for 2012!

Fwooshcast Year in Review Podcast features What’s on Joe Mind flavor!

Yes, we’re two weeks into 2012 and the “Best Of” 2011 lists are still going strong!  The latest one is courtesy of the Fwooshcast, a personal favorite podcast of mine, mostly because of one of the hosts Craig, who I have known for years, and who guest hosted on What’s on Joe Mind for a number of weeks.

So obviously, when he asked us to submit something for their 2011 “Year in Review” episode, we didn’t hesitate to comply.

Check out the latest episode of the Fwooshcast right here!

What’s on Joe Mind Episode 37 is online now!

And it’s a doozy!  With Greg out on assignment the guys go nutty and end up with a show coming close to the three hour mark!

I was also absent throughout most of the show, but I suppose you should listen anyway.  You’ll hear me pop on just in time for the news and just in time to be told how much the other yahoos (that’s YAY-hoos) were harassing me while I was gone.  Go figure.

We were joined by TFGI Mike from the Geekcast Radio Network and answered all sorts of crazy amounts of listener mail.  Check us out as always on our Podbean page, or hit up the embedded player below.

New episode of Flag Points podcast with Herb Trimpe interview!

Now if that’s not cool, I don’t know what is…

Many folks consider Larry Hama the godfather of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero (with good reason) but right alongside him for the first era of the modern military comic story was Herb Trimpe!  A legend in the comic world (did anyone know Trimpe drew Wolverine’s first appearance in Incredible Hulk #180-181?) Trimpe breathed incredible life into both the Joes and the Cobras during those early comic issues.

Well, the guys over at Flag Points brought him on the show and interviewed him, and it is a GREAT listen.  If you’re into G.I. Joe or just comics in general, you have to check it out.

Hop on over to their podbean site to take a listen.
