It’s a tradition unlike any other! No, not the Daytona 500 itself, the dissection of the latest G.I. Joe: Retaliation trailer or TV spot via screencap gallery!
Like all the other trailers and TV spots, I ran this one through the ole software and pulled apart lots of great screen grabs, so big thanks to HissTank.com for uploading in HD! Not a whole lot of new stuff. Some clearer images (compared to yesterday’s TV spot) and a few new details. Love the shot of the Ripsaw jumping into the air. Also love the little touch like what appears to be a Cobra logo lapel pin on the Secret Service Agent who Colton is whipping the ass of. Little attentions to detail like that are very cool.
Also a scene with Zartan as The President possibly talking to…the REAL president? Tough to tell, but almost seems like it. Good stuff. Check out the images below, and as always, these will be mirrored on the G.I. Joe: Retaliation SuperPage.
My fellow podcast host Gary first reported this afternoon that a new G.I. Joe: Retaliation TV Spot had aired during the Daytona 500 via his Twitter feed. I don’t traditionally watch racing, but thankfully the guys at HissTank.com jumped on the TV and captured the TV spot in glorious HD.
You can see it on YouTube and embedded below. Lots of recycled footage, but also some cool new snippets as well, specifically of the Ripsaw taking a flying leap and Joe Colton kicking some Secret Service ass. Excellent.
Part of the reason I love doing these screen caps so much is that upon first watch, you don’t really notice many new details with the latest G.I. Joe: Retaliation TV Spot, but once I broke it down into screen caps, some more stuff became evident.
The explosion near the middle of the TV spot, for instance, seems to reveal a bit more of what looks like a Cobra HISS. Also a very cool group shot of Roadblock, Jinx, Snake Eyes, and Flint.
Granted, only a few scant seconds of new footage, but at this point, I think we’ll all digest whatever we can get. Good stuff!

It’s been a crazy recording week this week for the What’s on Joe Mind crew…heck for most of them it’s been a crazy few weeks! We spent some time this past week talking to various different folks at different levels of the geek stratosphere, but perhaps none with such a large following as Ryan Penagos, AKA Agent M on Twitter. The MTV Movie Blog has just gotten around to posting an update from one of their Toy Fair interviews by the looks of it, and in it they talk to DJ Cotrona and Adrianne Palicki about the relationship between Flint and Lady Jaye in the movie. From the sounds of it, the two characters have a bit of a past before we see it take shape in the film, but it continues to evolve in ways that fans should enjoy.
