Electronic Arts announces unlockable content for Rise of COBRA video games

Get a Piece of the Action With G.I. JOE The Rise of Cobra Unlockable Features

Dedicated G.I. JOE Fans To Be Rewarded With Classic Unlockables

Operatives brave enough to take on the infamous COBRA organization in this summer’s G.I. JOE The Rise of Cobra video game will  be rewarded for their heroism with a lineup of exclusive unlockable features from EA!  Advanced G.I. JOE operatives can get a peek behind the scenes at the game’s production, including unlockable concept art and character renders, while those in the mood for a bit of nostalgia can uncover four of the classic G.I. JOE PSA’s from the original 80’s cartoon series.  There are also 75 filecards scattered throughout the game, each containing profiles of various G.I. JOE team members, COBRA henchmen and the game’s arsenal of explosive weapons, vehicles and play sets.  Players can review these filecards to gather valuable intel that will give them a leg up in battling COBRA forces – now you know, and knowing is, after all, half the battle!

G.I. JOE The Rise of Cobra hits stores this August, and will be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 2, Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable (PSP) as well as mobile phones.

“G.I. Joe is not the movie Paramount should be worried about.”

So begins the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen review over at Latino Review.  In fact, by and large, across the web, Transformers 2 has been getting lambasted, raked over the coals, and generally abused by critics and movie fans alike.  Funny thing is, none of this has dampened my own enthusiasm to see the film in Imax glory tomorrow night, but it does bring up some questions in my mind, especially considering the box office numbers that Revenge of the Fallen has already tallied.

In spite of a veritable rampage of negative reviews, according to Box Office Mojo, Transformers 2 has already grossed over $120 million dollars internationally, and this is before the first domestic weekend.  So, by all accounts, Revenge of the Fallen can’t be considered a good film (of course depending on everyone’s personal opinion of that term), but there is absolutely no doubt that it will be a successful film.

Which, of course, raises the question…  what is more important?  Would you rather have a good film or a big money maker?  Of course in a perfect world, we could have The Dark Knight, which gave us both…but this is my website, dammit, so I’m calling the shots.  If you could only have one… big money, or good quality, what would it be?

Updated release date for G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA toys?

Bad Sociologist over on HissTank.com reports that his Toys “R” Us received a nice assortment of stock for the upcoming Rise of COBRA toyline, but when he scanned the UPC, it reported that the items couldn’t be sold until July 4th.  We’d previously heard dates of July 11th and July 6th, and other Toys “R” Us assortments had reported July 10th, so at this point, it’s somewhat tough to tell exactly what the solid street date is.  I personally think a July 4th date would be great as a tie in to Independence Day…  whatever the actual date is, early July is just around the corner, so buckle your seat belts!

Another nice tidbit of information that was provided in that thread on HissTank was a rundown of the case assortment.  I’ve reposted that below.
