Club reveals package art for upcoming 3 3/4" Adventure Team!

For Joe fans who don’t check into the GI Joe Collectors’ Club forums, you can sometimes miss out on some nice little tidbits.  For instance, this past weekend, Lanny revealed some awesome package art for the upcoming 3 3/4″ Adventure Team product that is supposed to debut at the Convention in Rhode Island this year.
That artwork is pretty damn stunning, I have to say.
Between the Red Shadows, Action Force, Dr. Venom, and the Adventure Team, this year’s Convention is gonna be a killer on the wallet, but I’m really looking forward to it.  Check out the package art mirrored below as well.

Other tidbits from the GIJCC forums within the past few days…  according to The Commander, the Red Torches will come with some different weapon assortments in the box!  Sounds like they may not be straight-up flamethrower troopers.  Also, the inclusion of Flint and Interrogator was most likely due to a dictation from Hasbro that they include a mainstream Joe and a mainstream Cobra in the Con set.
Some very cool behind the scenes info.  Check it out, registration is free.

G.I. Joe 2010 Convention Red Shadow Troopers revealed!

The hits keep on coming…  Black Major was great.  Red Torch looks very nice as well…  Flint was hit or miss with many of the collector crowd, though I think he looks good as well.  But what many folks were waiting for were the Red Shadows themselves…and it looks like the Club stepped up to the plate.
Hit up GIJoeCon.com to see the Red Shadows in their old school glory.  These look NICE.  Straight up Red Shadows, pulled from the Action Force comics.  Absolutely love ’em.  Here’s hoping we get some decent Action Force foils to go up against them.
Using mostly Red Star parts, with a very cool looking newly tooled head, this figure definitely captures the backbone of the Red Shadow faction.  A very cool looking figure.  Check it out here!

Operation: HISS 5-Page preview from IDW

While the Operation: HISS animated short left quite a bit to be desired, I think fans of the Rise of Cobra universe have at least a little more enthusiasm for the upcoming IDW Mini-Series that takes place after the events in the motion picture.  Hopefully they’ll explain some inconsistencies (like how Storm Shadow is still alive, and why Cobra is still such a threat with Destro, Cobra Commander, and Baroness all behind bars) and give the fans some more…  “mature” action.  The preview itself looks like the same comic we got with the Electronic Arts video game, but obviously with 4 issues to work with, it’ll branch out more from there.
Check out the preview below!

Crimson Twins set to appear in G.I. Joe Sequel?

Once again, the MTV Movie Blog delivers with some very neat info regarding the potential sequel to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.  Continuing their talk with the writers of the sequel, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, the interviewer brought up the idea of Tomax and Xamot…and apparently the reactions of the writers gave it away.

“Oh yeah, well–” Reese said, catching himself before continuing, “… okay, maybe.” Both writers then laugh. A little too hard. Interesting.
“I can’t say,” Reese continued. “You may have just read it off my face but I can’t say.” A pause. “Can’t say.”

But it doesn’t stop there, and when the interviewer pressures them a bit more…

“It could be a disaster,” Reese agreed. That’s when the bomb drops, the closest we get to confirmation that the duo will at least be attempted; Wernick adds “We hope to do it right.”

Tomax and Xamot have the potential to be pretty awful in a cinematic setting…but they also could be pretty cool as well.  Sure, they were ridiculous in the Sunbow cartoon, but I think Larry Hama handled them quite well in the Marvel Comics, and of course, they’re deep, conflicted, and totally enthralling in G.I. Joe: Cobra.  Hell, maybe we can hope that some influences will be pulled from G.I. Joe: Cobra (based on the popularity of that title) for the movie in general.  But that might be hoping for too much.

Target Exclusive "Serpent Armor w/ Viper Commando" Reviewed!

Umm… what the hell?  Did I forget to post this?
As I was preparing the Past and Present set for review, I noticed that I had no link up on the Rise of Cobra Review Page for the Serpent Armor set that I reviewed like…I dunno…months ago?  Did I forget to post it?
I have no idea.  If I did, well, it’s posted now.  That’s a damn shame.  I love the set, and I figured I’d told everyone how much I loved it by now.  Go buy it if you can find any left.
