G.I. Joe: Operation HISS Webisode 8 Online Now

Along with the aforementioned Baroness focused episode, Hasbro has also posted the 8th installment of G.I. Joe: Operation: HISS, this time featuring a showdown of Storm Shadow vs….  Kamakura?!  Sweet.  Love seeing those somewhat obscure Joes getting their due.
And yeah, as much as the G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra video game didn’t inspire much love among the fandom, I did enjoy the costumes they used (a neat mixture of the movie themed Reactive Armor, and some more toy-centric colors).  Since these are obviously the same models they used for the video game, it’s neat to see Kamakura sporting those togs here, too.
Check out the episode right here, and I’ve mirrored some images below.

And yes, if I go through the trouble of screen-capping even these cheesy mini-webisodes, can you just imagine the kind of treatment Renegades will get once it hits?  It’ll be epic, I promise you.

Operation: HISS Update – The Baroness

Thanks to tkprime of the MS GI Joe Collectors’ Club for pointing out that GIJoe.com has updated with a new installment of Operation: HISS, so to speak.  It’s a short 60 second episode that shows The Baroness infiltrating a G.I. Joe base.  Nothing exciting, but hey, it’s new content.
Another interesting thing I noticed while checking this out, was that Hasbro’s online video site, MonkeybarTV has a banner on top proclaiming that the content is all moving to HubWorld.com!  So apparently the Hub’s website will also be a repository for Hasbro’s other video content.  Interesting news.

GIJoeClub Exclusive Big Lob Sells out!

For the first time that I can remember, the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club exclusive incentive figure for 2010 has SOLD OUT.  According to this post on the GIJoeClub forums, the figure has sold through and is now out of stock.
This is a first for the Club exclusives…and if nothing else, I think it proves as a bit of a warning into potential things to come.  I was extremely fired up about getting an o-ring version of Big Lob, but most of the love these days focuses around the 25th Anniversary style and the characters…so when Dial Tone makes his debut next year, I think folks are going to want to sign up early.
While this might prove frustrating for some fans who might not have gotten their hands on the figure yet, I think it’s cool news for the Club, and hopefully they can find the right balance going forward between production and demand.

GeneralsJoes reviews IDW's G.I.Joe: Cobra #8

So, let me get this straight.  Mike Costa and Christos Gage have actually introduced and used the characters Croc Master, Golobulus, Serpentor, and Venomous Maximus before Storm Shadow even makes an appearance in the IDW universe?
It’s hilarious…it’s awesome…and it’s a testament to the quality of these writers because they make it work.

SK Omega Artwork and information overload!

One of the coolest things about the vintage G.I. Joe line was not only the great action figures, but also the presentation.  The toys were complimented by fantastic artwork, and it is awesome to see some great art out there for SK Omega.  Granted, this isn’t production art, a lot of it is just used in the design process, but regardless, there is some really cool looking artwork showing up on DeviantArt promoting this upcoming toy line.  If the toys themselves are even close to as cool as these pieces of artwork then we could be in for a real treat when these toys hit.
Along with these images, over on HissTank.com Gyre-Viper revealed some information from the folks behind the scenes at SK Omega as well.

“Since a lot of you have been inquiring about the status of the line… and pleading for news (and images) regarding prototypes etc… I’ve been asked by the SK Omega guys to fill you in on a couple things (not much; be patient) that should at least answer some questions (concerns?).
First of all, … the line is moving forward, and quite wonderfully. Control art is complete for most of the vehicles (i.e. the helicopter) and the HIVE play set is actually pretty much done. They’re keeping a lid on a lot of what’s going on for obvious reasons but you can expect to see some 3D reveals in the near future (although for some of you that’s not soon enough heheheh).
Basically, this line is going to happen.
On a personal note:
I know it’s hard to reserve judgment on a product ‘skeletoned’ on a decades-old, basically extinct format.. but these guys grew up with GI JOE the same way you did. They’ve got Ron Rudat and Guy Cassaday and a chunk of other super talented artists in their arsenal… and they’re living the ultimate fan/collector dream. They’re just doing what they love and they hope others will enjoy the results.
Anyways… I’ll fill you in on more, whence permitted.”

Check out some of the mirrored images below…  they have been culled from various DeviantArt pages linked below:
