New images are now floating around regarding the story we reported on last night, but the images are larger and watermark free, so I’ve hosted them below. The more I look at Helix, Flash, and Scarlett, the more warm and fuzzy I feel inside…such cool looking figures, and I especially love Helix and Flash, who are really taking things in new directions, which is critical to the future success of the line. Gonna be an awesome year for Joe toy fans, I think.

HissTank.com has scored pics of some upcoming figures, including the confirmation that the mysterious red and black armored figure is Flash! Also included in these images is the first we’ve seen of a Resolute themed Scarlett. Flash and Agent Helix also have their filecards shown for the first time.
Some items of note…
- Flash rocks. End of story, no arguing allowed.
- No mention of any sort of real backstory for Helix, though she appears to be written in a similar “superagent ninja warrior” vein as Snake Eyes.
- Flash and Agent Helix both appear in the same wave.
- The shot of the back of the card shows a single pack General Hawk, the G.I. Joe Pit Commando, Rex “The Doctor” Lewis, first mention of Crimson Neo-Viper, and the COBRA Eel we saw before
- Many folks (myself included) assumed that the COBRA Eel was either a packaging error, or a change from the Elite Viper, but it would appear that they are just two different (very similar) figures.
- Resolute Scarlett looks bad ass, minus that goofy looking head…the wind-swept hair just doesn’t work quite as well in plastic form as it did on the small screen. Still, a critical Resolute character that absolutely MUST be released. Please. I’m begging here.
I absolutely love that Flash figure. Since I doubt he appears in the film, and he has been mentioned in the past in connection with the Rise of COBRA video game, I wonder if this is how he’ll appear there? Wherever he appears, I love this look…a very different appearence for him, but I think it gives him a great identity, rather than being eternally stuck in his Original 13 look. I approve. Original thread is here, images of new stuff can be seen below.

Notpicard over at the Coil Club has posted some pictures of carded items from the upcoming Rise of COBRA action figure line. Included in the pictures is a carded “Pit Commando”, “COBRA Eel” (which looks like the previously hypothosized Elite Viper), and Agent Helix. Check out the original thread here, and check out the images mirrored below!

While Gamestop revealed a teeny-tiny picture of the cover for the upcoming video game early, Electronic Arts has done a full blown reveal today, supplying us with high res images for cover shots of every system the game is being released for. The DS cover differs from the console covers, but we’ve included a full blown gallery below with each cover for each system.
I’m loving this cover a lot…very dramatic. Time will tell if the game itself lives up to it…

Continuing the onslaught of news tonight, tkprime from HissTank.com discovered an image of the Rise of COBRA video game cover at his local GameStop, and a little investigation revealed that Electronic Arts had revealed the cover image at their site as well. There appear to be two different covers, one for the Nintendo DS and one other for all other systems. Check out the pics below.

It isn’t often that we take a little peek behind the curtain when it comes to Hasbro, Paramount, or any of the entities that weave this universe that we live in, however, Dax Berg, lead designer for Double Helix studios posts a nice little blog entry here, and gives us at least a bit of insight into his background and why this particular project (working on the G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA video game) brings him a certain type of joy. During the course of his blog, he also lets a few nice little tidbits about the game slip.
- Stalker is a focus of the game as a “field commander” and gets a lot of dialogue time, though he appears to be a non-playable character
- The story background for the game actually takes a classic story and “retells it” in the new G.I. Joe universe.
- There will be 75 hidden filecards throughout the game (which we knew) but apparently each card will feature some very nice artwork and have been re-written by Dax and Paul Benjamin
Time will tell just how good the end product is, but if nothing else, it sounds like it’ll be a fun way to further explore the new Rise of COBRA universe…for those of us who care to, anyway. 😉 Again, check out the full article here.
