GIJoeClub.com debuts packaged G.I. Joe: Retaliation G.I. Joe Trooper

Showcasing a figure which promises to be an early favorite among the fans, the GIJoe Club website has posted an image of the carded G.I. Joe Trooper from the G.I. Joe: Retaliation toyline.  This is a fantastic looking figure and once again forces me to rethink my “G.I. Joe shouldn’t have generic troops” mindset.  Between this and the Steel Brigade, I’m amassing (or will soon amass) a large number of the faceless and the nameless.

Don’t forget you can see even more detail on this great looking figure over at CardedHeroes.com.

What’s on Joe Mind Episode 49 with Robert Atkins is now online

IDW superstar Robert Atkins comes back to the show to talk about his time at Roll Out Roll Call 3, and we have a terrific conversation about the recent crackdown on 3rd Party vendors and artist’s alley at Botcon.  Great to talk to someone directly impacted by those events!

We also cover the latest news and intel going on in the G.I. Joe world, and Beachhead Mike actually makes it through the entire episode without ralphing.  It’s an Easter miracle!  Listen to the episode at our Podbean page, or hit up the embedded player below.  Show notes are after the jump.

Carded G.I. Joe: Retaliation Red Ninja on GIJoeClub.com

Another day, another carded image posted from the upcoming G.I. Joe: Retaliation toyline.  The GIJoeClub website has been posting them on a regular basis, and this time they put up the awesome looking Red Ninja.

Using a lot of Storm Shadow tooling, this figure makes for a great classic homage or a boost to your Cobra ninja forces no matter which era you collect.  Check out a small piece of the image below, or hit up GIJoeClub.com for the full shot.

G.I. Joe Convention Website updated and Con Set teaser image posted!!!

Well lookee here!

The G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club has ended a relative silence over the past month or two with a whopper of an update!  The 2012 G.I. Joe Convention website has officially launched, and they’ve posted a teaser image.  That teaser image is HUGE.

It looks like none other than Daina from the Oktober Guard.  Wow.  A modern era style Oktober Guard is something fans have been clamoring for over the past few years, and by the looks of things, we’ll be getting our wish.  I wonder who they might be battling against?

We know that o-ring tooling is more or less gone, so it stands to reason that we’ll be getting a modern era update for these classic characters.  The interesting thing to me will be how the Club writes these characters into the modern mythology.  If they do end up doing updates for the classic characters like Horror Show or Brekhov or Stormavik, will they try and write them into their modern universe considering they died back in the Special Missions comic?  Or are we only going to get Oktober Guard members who are still alive like Daina, Gorky, Misha, and Dragonsky.

I really hope the Club does ignore some of the deaths and gives us modern updates of those classic Oktober Guard characters, but I guess time will tell how they handle it.  I’m just excited that there is some Convention news to discuss!

Check it all out right here, and make sure you keep looking there, as more teasers are bound to be posted, not to mention the full blown convention brochure coming up soon.  JoeCon reveals!  One of my most favorite times of the year!

Carded image of G.I. Joe: Retaliation Roadblock from GIJoeClub.com

The carded figure reveals continue, today it’s the wave 1 single pack Roadblock!  The first thing you’ll notice is that his left hand is open… Unlike the three-pack version I reviewed as an early sample, this version of Roadblock only has the Battle Kata play feature permanently embedded in one hand, not both.  That is some consolation, I suppose!

There is also a massive shoulder brace which I’m not certain we’ve seen in clear shots before, so that’s all good.  And hey, with Roadblock you can almost pretend the packaging has unique artwork to represent the character inside!

Almost.

Sunbow’s Doc and Zap voice actor to appear at BotCon

One of the great things about those old Sunbow cartoons was that there was quite a bit of cross over voice talent between them.  Chances are, most folks voicing one series probably did some work in the other.  The most obvious example of this, of course, would be Chris Latta’s work as both Cobra Commander and Starscream.

Recently, the G.I. Joe Convention has started inviting voice talent to their shows, while over on the Transformers side, BotCon has been doing it a while.  Well, BotCon is sticking to their formula, and this year making his first ever convention appearance will be the voice of Blaster, Buster Jones!

For G.I. Joe fans, this means Doc and Zap.  So if you’re a fan of either of these two characters, and you’re in the Dallas area, you may want to make a trip to BotCon…I’m not sure Mr. Jones is someone that the Collectors’ Club would invite to JoeCon, so get him while he’s hot!
