A mysterious eBay auction has revealed what appears to be a frankenstein figure using Resolute Roadblock’s body with Duke’s head. A listing of “JP Gen” in the auction title (not to mention tampos on the figure’s vest itself) seem to indicate that this figure will be a part of the Jurassic Park line, which has already been revealed as using parts from the Resolute Cobra Troopers (as well as AWE Strikers).
Very cool…of course, knowing our luck this awesome figure will come with some super-expensive playset or something. Time will tell. Hopefully he’ll be easily accessible, this figure could be a great addition to the Joe team as a new character.

With the reveals of every Pursuit of Cobra figure through spring, 2011, some folks (myself included) were questioning just what Hasbro would talk about during the San Diego ComicCon. Well, that question has been answered.
Comic-Con.org has posted an updated schedule of events and featured on the Thursday block is the following panel information:

With John Warden in attendance, there will no doubt be some Pursuit of Cobra talk as well, but I think everyone is waiting to hear more about Renegades, which could prove to be G.I. Joe’s resurgence into television animation after nearly two decades of obscurity. No, Sigma 6 does not count (as much as I hate to admit it).

At JoeCon last month lucky convention goers got images of Duke and Snake Eyes from the upcoming G.I. Joe: Renegades animated series. The Hub published the image of Duke shortly thereafter, but to this point no sight of Snake Eyes has been seen until now.
HissTank forum member gunslingercbr snapped a couple of photos from the licensing expo, and those pictures feature the infamous G.I. Joe ninja commando, and yes, that is his Renegades look. Pretty faithful to the source material.
Whether or not that is Timber walking beside him remains to be seen. 😉 Check out the mirrored images below.

So the answers have all pretty much trickled in for the latest round of the Q & A, which I’ve archived much of right here. Honestly, it seemed like a somewhat drab round, without a whole lot of info. I know many of you will say that’s no surprise, but in the last round, I thought we got some great news nuggets, especially considering how close we were to Toy Fair.
This round there wasn’t much to get riled up about, but we did get some interesting information gleaned from the sites around the ‘net. These were some of the more interesting things discussed, in my opinion…click the “Read the rest of this entry” link below for the full run down.

Wow, it’s apparently been an eventful weekend in the comments section of the page over here. Yikes. Moving on to other subjects… while folks are still oohing and aahing over G.I. Joe: The Pursuit of Cobra (myself absolutely included!) those who crave the mythos as well as the toys are already looking ahead to G.I. Joe: Renegades. Granted, Renegades as an animated series will debut long before the PoC toys transform into a slightly more animated aesthetic on retail pegs.
But I have read throughout the ‘net lots of kneejerk reaction saying “if it’s not Resolute, it sucks”, or “if it’s a kid show, it sucks” and I’m definitely not ready to write it off that quickly.
Granted, Hasbro and its various licensors have been totally unable to produce a decent G.I. Joe animated series for kids within the last two decades, but here’s hoping that’s changed this time around. One of the reasons why I’m maintaining a large level of confidence is because of Jeff Kline.
Jeff Kline was at JoeCon this past year in Providence, and said all of the right things during the Hasbro round table. I gathered all of the notes together in my Renegades Quick Hits already. Now, Jeff Kline probably isn’t a name most folks have heard of, but he’s worked on many features you’ve seen. One of the lead producers and writers behind the Jackie Chan Adventures, Men in Black (the series), Max Steel, and Extreme Ghostbusters he has an impressive resume. Max Steel is a series that I feel gets a serious bum rap and was one of the better animated adventures of the 90’s, in my mind.
But perhaps the biggest notch in Mr. Kline’s belt for me is Roughnecks: The Starship Trooper Chronicles. Yes, Mr. Kline was the lead producer behind that series, which was a fantastic look into the world of the Starship Troopers, and many would say represented that universe even better than the films did. It pulled no punches and presented a complex, intricate story woven throughout episodes.
Now, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are also getting behind him, as he apparently is one of the writers for Transformers: Prime, the series they are front-running for the Hub to air alongside Renegades. In this article on TFormers.com, they talk about Mr. Kline’s resume and how lucky they are to be working with a man of his talent and background.
Considering what he said about Renegades at the round table, that certainly leaves me with some level of optimism. Time will tell.
