Larry Hama speaks to Newsarama about G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero

Over the past several weeks, Newsarama has been doing a great interview series called “YO, JOE” and has featured many great IDW top talent, including Fred Van Lente, Mike Costa, Chuck Dixon, and now the godfather himself, Larry Hama.  Larry’s work on IDW’s G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero title has been stellar over the past couple of years, and I love that Newsarama is doing a featured piece on it.

The interview itself is fantastic, too.  As many of us know, Mr. Hama has a distinct opinion about his place in the grand scheme of comic publishing, and this interview perfectly captures that attitude.  He even answers some questions simply by showing some great notes from recent issues of Real American Hero.  It’s a great read, everyone should go check it out at Newsarama.com.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation prep revisited – The History of Roadblock

So, the cool guys at the Cold Slither Podcast Tweeted out a link to one of my old articles covering the history of Roadblock for folks who needed to bone up on their G.I. Joe history before catching G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

That kicked a reminder at me that maybe I should get that post back up on top since G.I. Joe: Retaliation has officially opened and there might be people wondering just who this Roadblock dude is.  You can see the original post right here, but I’ve also reposted it at the Read the Rest of the Story link below.

GeneralsJoes Reviews discount store “running change” Cobra Commander

First of all, a big thanks to Chief over at JoeCustoms.com for the Cobra Commander hook up!  I was running towards the end of this daily review trend leading up to G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and this figure arrived just in the nick of time!  Then my hands were so jittery from the excitement of seeing G.I. Joe: Retaliation tonight I could barely type.

Oh, the humanity!

Regardless, the review is done and posted in the 30th Anniversary section, or you can hit the direct link below.  Thus wraps up my Discount Store “Running Change” versions of these figures.  NEXT!

Wordburglar brings his Joe fandom to the rap circle

Now this is some cool stuff.  Speaking as someone who has zero musical talent I always appreciate those folks who can sing or play instruments… but for G.I. Joe fans who have musical talent and actually infuse their fandom with their musical talent?  That’s some bad ass right there.

And Wordburglar is doing just that.  Check out the details below to listen to this G.I. Joe fan and rap master!

“Welcome To Cobra Island” is a free concept record inspired by
Wordburglar’s love of GI JOE, the comic book works of Larry Hama &
Mike Costa and the animated series written by Buzz Dixon, Flint
Dille, Christy Marx and Steve Gerber (to name a few). The album
features fully possible, swivel arm, kung-fu battle grip and is
suitable for ages 4 and up. The full-length “Welcome To Cobra Island”
will be available for download on May 30th. Yo Joe!

You can listen to and download the first 3 songs for free right now:

This is some seriously impressive stuff.  You gotta check it out at the links above.

GeneralsJoes Reviews Discount Store “Running Change” Storm Shadow

I plowed through the first four of these figures pretty quickly, but the last two have kind of been in limbo due to availability (or lack thereof).  Big thanks to friend of the site Loc, who lent me his Storm Shadow so I was able to get this review done during my “Road to Retaliation” event!

I can’t believe the road is ending this week.

Check out the review on my 30th Anniversary page, or just take a peek at the direct link below.  One thing that became perfectly clear during the review of this figure…  I need a new vintage T’Ginzu!  Yellow-city.

GeneralsJoes wraps Kre-O week with Ninja Temple and Dragonfly!

Wow…somehow I did it.  I really didn’t think I’d be able to make this all happen, but I managed to get all of the G.I. Joe Kre-O sets reviewed in a single week.  Yeah, I’m patting myself on the back for that one, deal with it.  Check out the G.I. Joe Kre-O review page for all of the details on these terrific sets, or hit up the direct links below:

Also I was able to get the Battle Platform review updated with images of the RAM motorcycle.  I apologize for that little snafu, but all is right with the world.  Thanks to all the folks who gave me a heads up.
