Updated images of upcoming items: Flash, Agent Helix, etc…

New images are now floating around regarding the story we reported on last night, but the images are larger and watermark free, so I’ve hosted them below.  The more I look at Helix, Flash, and Scarlett, the more warm and fuzzy I feel inside…such cool looking figures, and I especially love Helix and Flash, who are really taking things in new directions, which is critical to the future success of the line.  Gonna be an awesome year for Joe toy fans, I think.

Some great new pics and details of upcoming Rise of COBRA figures

HissTank.com has scored pics of some upcoming figures, including the confirmation that the mysterious red and black armored figure is Flash!  Also included in these images is the first we’ve seen of a Resolute themed Scarlett.  Flash and Agent Helix also have their filecards shown for the first time.

Some items of note…

  • Flash rocks.  End of story, no arguing allowed.
  • No mention of any sort of real backstory for Helix, though she appears to be written in a similar “superagent ninja warrior” vein as Snake Eyes.
  • Flash and Agent Helix both appear in the same wave.
  • The shot of the back of the card shows a single pack General Hawk, the G.I. Joe Pit Commando, Rex “The Doctor” Lewis, first mention of Crimson Neo-Viper, and the COBRA Eel we saw before
  • Many folks (myself included) assumed that the COBRA Eel was either a packaging error, or a change from the Elite Viper, but it would appear that they are just two different (very similar) figures.
  • Resolute Scarlett looks bad ass, minus that goofy looking head…the wind-swept hair just doesn’t work quite as well in plastic form as it did on the small screen.  Still, a critical Resolute character that absolutely MUST be released.  Please.  I’m begging here.

I absolutely love that Flash figure.  Since I doubt he appears in the film, and he has been mentioned in the past in connection with the Rise of COBRA video game, I wonder if this is how he’ll appear there?  Wherever he appears, I love this look…a very different appearence for him, but I think it gives him a great identity, rather than being eternally stuck in his Original 13 look.  I approve.  Original thread is here, images of new stuff can be seen below.

Some cool lineart images from G.I. Joe: Origins

Mike Hawthorne, great artist from the G.I. Joe: Origins series, has posted some nice images of line art (and one piece of finished art) on his blog.  If Joe fans haven’t bookmarked that page yet, they really should, he often posts some great material on there after the books hit retail.

Check out his latest two posts here and here, and take a peek at the images below as well.

Great Alley-Viper review posted online

Anyone who hasn’t checked out the Last Best Angry Man Toy Review blog is really missing out on not only some great insight, but some humor along with it.  The guy behind the site (who goes by Irid70 on HissTank and the Terror Drome) has wrapped his meathooks around one of the upcoming Alley-Viper figures from the Defense of COBRA Island 7-Pack and posted his review here.  Some very nice images of a figure that looks to be a sure-fire winner.

Thanks to The Terror Drome for pointing out this great review!

More new “Dragonfly” images on HissTank.com

A few new images of the upcoming “Dragonfly” (keep in mind that name is NOT confirmed) have emerged over on HissTank.com.  These new shots make the copter look a good deal smaller than I initially thought…almost too small.  It looks very RHINO chopper like.  I still think the vehicle itself looks pretty damn cool, but I’ll have to see what I think once I get it in hand.  The thing just looks tiny.  Read the thread for yourself here, or take a peek at the images below.

Nice updated pictures of Reactive Armor Duke

cmderinchief over on JoeBattleLines has posted a nice assortment of detailed images from the upcoming Reactive Armor Duke figure.  Setting aside the size of his head, I’m really liking this look…the sleek armored uniform with the detailed weathering just looks really, really nice.  I can’t wait to get a full Joe team together.  I’m very impressed at how nicely Hasbro is bringing these movie figures together, especially considering their somewhat generic overall appearence.

Check out the original thread here, and the images posted below.

Josh Medors Benefit Auction Details

For new folks, you may not be aware of who Josh Medors is, or how he connects with the G.I. Joe realm.  During Devils’ Due’s America’s Elite run, Josh was the primary artist on the book and became a staple in the Joe comic realm.  We were saddened to learn (and especially saddened to learn so recently, when it’s been a story for a long time now) that Josh has been inflicted with a particularly nasty case of terminal cancer, and requires alternative treatment for the disease.

The comic world is looking to do whatever they can do to help, so a benefit auction is going right now for artwork from many of the industry’s best, and all proceeds go to the fantastic cause of treatment for Josh.  Please take a few minutes to read the details of this benefit auction and do whatever you can to assist.  Check the following links for all pertinent information:

Thanks as always to Jeff Bohn for keeping us in the loop on this.
