GeneralsJoes Reviews G.I. Joe Kre-O Cobra Armored Assault

Continuing the GeneralsJoes “G.I. Joe Kre-O Week” we have just one review today, featuring the Cobra Armored Assault set.  I suspect that most fans, myself included, picked up this set primarily for Flint, but they may find some other things to love here, too.  Check it out at my Kre-O Review Page, or the direct link below.

What’s on Joe Mind Episode 75 – Listener call in extravaganza!!

Well, we loved it so much we did it again!

In celebration of episode #52, we offered listeners a chance to call in and talk with us directly about their burning G.I. Joe issues, and the response was incredible.  We all had a blast doing it, so we figured to celebrate our diamond anniversary of episode #75 we’d do it again.  I think we’re all glad we did.  It was a raucus, “from the hip” whirlwind where we eschewed news and current events and just leaped into talking with YOU, our listeners.  Joined by good friend Erik Arana, who provides some great insight into our hobby and the toy industry in general.

Because there wasn’t much in the way of news or intel, the show notes are just below.  You can find the episode on Podbean, or via the embedded players below.

SHOW NOTES

It’s our second ever listener call in show!  We put the news, email, and Twitter on hold and take your calls and answer your questions!  Show friend, Erik Arana hangs out with us and gives us a unique perspective on our hobby.  If you don’t know who Erik is, you need to listen in!  Special appearances by WOJM contributors Eduardo M Freyre (with a lemon twist), Ryan Costello, Jr. WOJM Twitter laureate, Twitziller, Noted Author, James Kavanaugh, Jr. and Numbers from Ages 25 and Up.  It’s a festive, from the hip episode where the only thing that matters is taking your calls…and making fun of Chuck.   Enjoy!

It’s G.I. Joe Kre-O Week at GeneralsJoes! First review – Mini Figures Wave 1

I’ve been thinking about how to structure and organize these reviews, and I decided that there really wasn’t enough detail to break the reviews of wave 1 down to individual figures.  They were much better tackled as a whole.  I’m sure folks will let me know if they’re not happy with that format.

Throughout the rest of this week I will endeavor to cover every G.I. Joe Kre-O set that’s been released so far!  It might be too tall an order, but I’m going to give it my best shot as we roll towards the theatrical release of G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

Kick Ass Customs – Fun with G.I. Joe Kre-O

Perhaps I’m a late adopter, because I only really started getting sucked into the G.I. Joe Kre-O offerings over the past few days.  It took a bit for me to order the sets on ToysRUs.com and they just showed up this past week.  After spending a few multi-hour marathons with my 7-year old building these sets, I am officially a fan!

Granted, this is coming from a Lego n00b who really doesn’t have a lot of backstory with building sets.  All I know is the mini figures are a lot of fun, and watching these build sets come together has been a real blast.  But what I’ve done is nothing compared to what some other folks are already doing.  On Twitter Troy McKie Art has already spun up a bunch of very cool customs using G.I. Joe, Battleship, and even some Transformers Kre-O parts.  He jumps headlong into 1987 and really does some awesome stuff with some pretty straight forward part swaps.

Check out the gallery below:

He even let us know some of the recipe’s:

  • Outback is Joe Colton Head, Storm Shadow torso backwards, TF hands, and BattleShip Legs.
  • Tunnel Rat is TF helmet and legs, the rest is BattleShip
  • Falcon is Stalker with clutch arms and BattleShip head with Joe gear
  • Fast Draw is all BattleShip and TransFormers with a bad ass rocket launcher backpack.

Again, huge props to Troy McKie Art for posting those great Kre-O customs, and make sure you check out his website as well at TroyMcKie.com.

New G.I. Joe Kre-O SuperPage has been launched!

I’ve been considering this page for a while, and in fact had most of it drawn up shortly after Toy Fair, but with the recent collector craze over these little guys, I figured it was time to get this thing rolled out here.

On the SuperPage you’ll find a wave-by-wave break down of the Kre-O figures with all of the press images, and the known codes for the blind bags.  You can find it in the SuperPages menu up above, and also directly at the link below:

On this page you’ll also find a ton of images from Toy Fair 2013 featuring most of the Wave 1 Kre-O items, and even the build sets from Wave 2!  Enjoy!
