HissTank.com has scored pics of some upcoming figures, including the confirmation that the mysterious red and black armored figure is Flash! Also included in these images is the first we’ve seen of a Resolute themed Scarlett. Flash and Agent Helix also have their filecards shown for the first time.
Some items of note…
- Flash rocks. End of story, no arguing allowed.
- No mention of any sort of real backstory for Helix, though she appears to be written in a similar “superagent ninja warrior” vein as Snake Eyes.
- Flash and Agent Helix both appear in the same wave.
- The shot of the back of the card shows a single pack General Hawk, the G.I. Joe Pit Commando, Rex “The Doctor” Lewis, first mention of Crimson Neo-Viper, and the COBRA Eel we saw before
- Many folks (myself included) assumed that the COBRA Eel was either a packaging error, or a change from the Elite Viper, but it would appear that they are just two different (very similar) figures.
- Resolute Scarlett looks bad ass, minus that goofy looking head…the wind-swept hair just doesn’t work quite as well in plastic form as it did on the small screen. Still, a critical Resolute character that absolutely MUST be released. Please. I’m begging here.
I absolutely love that Flash figure. Since I doubt he appears in the film, and he has been mentioned in the past in connection with the Rise of COBRA video game, I wonder if this is how he’ll appear there? Wherever he appears, I love this look…a very different appearence for him, but I think it gives him a great identity, rather than being eternally stuck in his Original 13 look. I approve. Notpicard over at the Coil Club has posted some pictures of carded items from the upcoming Rise of COBRA action figure line. Included in the pictures is a carded “Pit Commando”, “COBRA Eel” (which looks like the previously hypothosized Elite Viper), and Agent Helix. I’ll be the first to admit when I’m wrong, and I definitely swung and missed on my hypothesis with the mystery figure out of Asia being some updated version of Dial-Tone. In my own defense, though, Helix wasn’t even on the minds of Joe fans those months ago, so cut me some slack. 😉
Ever since IDW mentioned Helix in a future solicitations article, Joe fans everywhere have come to the conclusion that this mysterious female figure was indeed this new character that was apparently designed for the video game and is thus being indoctrinated into the comic universe by IDW. Not much was known about the character, even in the August solicitations.
However, friend of GeneralsJoes (and loyal YoJoe contributor) Phillip passed along the following link from Deviantart, which is apparently a cover for the Helix special drawn by Joe Suitor. One glance at the cover confirms that the mystery character is indeed Helix! Check out the fantastic image below:

Cmderinchief of The Coil Club and JoeBattleLines has received a sample of this upcoming female figure that hasn’t yet been confirmed. While I speculated that it might be Dial Tone a couple of weeks ago, it’s looking much more likely that this is a figure for a new IDW and video game character Helix. Whomever it is, she definitely as a unique look. Image gallery is below.

- COBRA Special in September with talk of a “sort of” sequel.
- G.I. Joe #7 in August with a Howard Chaykin cover and the previously shown David Williams gatefold.
- G.I. Joe #7 contains the first one on one fight with COBRA.
- G.I. Joe Origins takes July off, then two issues in August, reflecting events in the 2nd arc in the main title.
- Also in August, a one-shot special on the new character, Helix. Helix is female and was created for the video game.
