Since JoeCon 2009 I’ve been looking at that AWE Striker w/ Night Fox and have been filled with an overwhelming sense of “meh”… nothing about it really resonated. We’ve gotten a Night Ops AWE Striker, we’ve gotten a desert AWE Striker, so why do we need this bizarre amalgamation of the two of them? I couldn’t really find a reason to be excited about it. Even Night Fox, a new character (which I normally love) seemed like a strange mish mash of parts and pieces that didn’t necessarily flow.
But then both Gyre-Viper and GeneralsJoes contributor cmderinchief dug up some new images from overseas specialist toyssir898. And these new images really struck a nerve with me. In these images, Night Fox is wearing a helmet, not his ill-fitting cap, and for whatever reason, it makes a world of difference. For the first time I noticed the great webgear…I love the fact that he uses Jungle Assault Ripcord’s baggy-sleeved arms. The whole figure looks very, very cool. I’m not sure why the helmet and close up picture suddenly made all of this difference, but it did. I find myself really looking forward to this now, even though I’ll likely discard the AWE Striker and just use Night Fox as a night ops specialist.
Also in the series of images was the Ice Cutter with the original version of the Snow Serpent slated to come with the vehicle originally (before it appeared to be changed to a paint scheme resembling the Toys “R” Us version from last year). I find myself liking that red, especially when looking at the cancelled Elite Ice-Viper and Arctic Destro figures. The red and white paint apps would have all blended very nicely together…

So last week I got a little bent out of shape because the mind-blowingly awesome Pursuit of Cobra Alley-Viper has come and gone through pre-order formats in numerous different e-tailer locations, and I never got a chance to get an order in.
Well…now Gyre-Viper rubs some salt in those wounds by posting another one of his infamous monster galleries over at HissTank.com. I’ve mirrored a bunch of the images below… most striking to me is that I absolutely LOVE the Resolute Alley-Viper head sculpt. I’m psyched they used it, along with the helmet and goggles. This is the Cobra Alley-Viper we’ve really been waiting for, in my mind.
Now excuse me while I go cry in the corner.

There’s nothing as exciting as new GI Joes, and that’s exactly what we’ve got this week! First up are the Resolute 7 Packs, as well as Series 1 and 2 of the Pursuit of Cobra line.
And for those of you with more diverse interests, that’s not all we’ve got. Check out our new Transformers Generations preorders, including characters from the War for Cybertron game that comes out today! I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of the game or on these figures.
For Masters of the Universe fans, we have Keldor and She-Ra in stock and available now if you missed them originally. Gygor and Whiplash preorders are available too!
If you’re looking for new DC Comics based toys, we’ve got some of those too, like the video game based Arkham Asylum figures or the rerelease of the impossible-to-find DC Universe Classics Wave 5. The new Justice League Unlimited Lobo is available as well.
And the final items spotlighted this week are really intriguing. Check out these Star Wars and Iron Man Lamps!

I can’t get over this…as much of a Hasbro fanboy as I am, I cannot help but admit usually figure design and production is a fairly fluid, up and down thing. Very rarely do we get terrific figures every time all the time…in fact, I’d say that never happens.
But over the next two months, we’re getting the first wave of Pursuit of Cobra and two Resolute boxed sets, and someone kick me, I must be dreaming. I can’t find a crap figure among the lot of them.
Granted, there are some improvements that could have been made (such as Scarlett and Baroness’ super-foreheadness) but by and large, from design, to sculpt, to paint, to articulation, there are almost twenty figures here, and they are ALL great. All of them. Even figures that don’t knock my socks off design-wise have fantastic accessories and other very cool qualities.
I’m not sure why this concept hasn’t been grasped so whole-heartedly before, but the combination of military design, future aesthetic, fantastic accessories out the whazoo, and amazing design and articulation has already made The Pursuit of Cobra the highlight of the G.I. Joe universe over the past several years. So, because of that, even though we’ve seen these figures time and time again, when Winter God over on ACToys posted about G.I. Joe: Resolute and the Pursuit of Cobra right here, I just had to mirror the larger, more detailed images. I just can’t get enough of how awesome these toys are. Check out the images below.
