Take from this what you will…we’ve seen and heard numerous reports about the G.I. Joe: Renegades air date, and here’s the next one in line. Of course, it does match up with what Renegades artist Clement Sauve said, so perhaps that lends more credence to the report?
Whatever the case, TV Listings website TV Tango is reporting that G.I. Joe: Renegades will air the day after Thanksgiving, November 26th, at 5:00pm Eastern. I think that’s actually a great time and date. The kids will be off from school, but it’s not on too late in the day. Time will tell if this is accurate, but there certainly seems to be plenty of corroborating evidence this time around.
Thanks to kennywr22 of HissTank.com and TKPrime of the MS Gulf Coast Collectors’ Club for the info!
Keep in mind, I’m taking some of this information with a grain of salt, because the language within the interview is somewhat unclear. But according to an interview with Greg Johnson at 411Mania, there is a possibility that G.I. Joe: Renegades might air early November…perhaps even the 10th.
Honestly, I’m not sure that’s entirely accurate. There’s no telling when this interview was done (though it was only released yesterday) but Mr. Johnson specifically mentioning the 10th appears to me to be more related to the debut of The Hub rather than Renegades specifically. We’ll see.
To me, the better information is that Greg Johnson is involved in the first place. This guy is an action animation powerhouse, who has been involved in a wealth of fantastic animation. This is his resume:
Beast Wars
X-Men: Evolution
Ultimate Avengers & Ultimate Avengers II
Invincible Iron Man
Dr. Strange
Wolverine and the X-Men
So yeah, pretty much every Marvel related animation release over the past several years has been written by Greg Johnson. Just seeing Beast Wars, X-Men: Evolution, and Wolverine and the X-Men on this list is freaking AWESOME to me. Three of my favorite animated series over the past several years. Great news.
Another little tidbit of information comes from MultiChannel.com. The information they reveal mentions G.I. Joe: Renegades being a part of the “Weekend” schedule.
“WEEKEND AFTERNOONS Deltora Quest
Men in Black
G.I. Joe Renegades
Batman Beyond
Hubworld
Hub Family Movie Night” WEEKEND OVERNIGHT G.I. Joe Renegades
Batman Beyond
Men in Black…”
Take this all with a grain of salt, of course, but as we get closer to November hopefully the picture will start clarifying.
So far there has been no real concrete information about an air date for the first episode of G.I. Joe: Renegades. However, HissTank member “Clem” (who is Renegades concept artist Clement Sauvant) is reporting that the series is slated to start around Thanksgiving. The actual text of the post is below:
“Renegades premieres on Thanksgiving, not sure if it’s the week of Thanksgiving or literally the day of thanksgiving though.”
Hopefully more information will be forthcoming, and hopefully we’ll start seeing some trailers and promotional material hitting soon.
Well, it’s not a whole lot, but beggars can’t be choosers, right?
The Hub debuted at 10:00am this morning, and immediately featured a promotional sizzle for the station, including a few scant seconds of Renegades footage as well as some decent footage of Transformers: Prime. Check out the YouTube link below!
Throughout the online community there’s been some discussion about the promotion of The Hub (or perceived lack thereof), so I figured it would be of interest to readers to point them to an Adweek Interview with Hub Marketing Chief Amber Tarshis.
She talks about the marketing angle with The Hub and how they’ve used other networks (including other Discovery Network channels) to promote the coming of The Hub. One really interesting nugget I’ve listed below:
“Every single network [in the Discovery family] is contributing in some way. That includes running commercials for the Hub free of charge to us and creating sponsored programming stacks. For example, the mom-targeted morning programming on TLC is sponsored by the Hub. We even have the Military Channel sponsoring a stack “brought to you by the new G.I. Joe Renegades.”
Pretty interesting to see them putting a stack on the military channel about the upcoming G.I. Joe series. I know a lot of folks have also reported billboards throughout the country as well as web-based advertisements on various websites out there, too.
