Okay, I’ll admit it up front. I wasn’t real sure about this when I first heard about it. Granted, I’ve got all sorts of faith in what Larry Hama can do with a pen when he puts his mind to it, but we were neck deep in the midst of IDW’s new continuity, did we really need to dip our toes back into the Marvel continuity well?
Honestly, I didn’t think so.
To avoid spoilers, though, I’ll continue this talk after the “jump”.

YoJoe Comic mastermind antarctica sends along an update, reporting that he’s totally revised the YoJoe comic section, focusing on continuity and “flow” from one series to another. Using official Hasbro terminology, he laid out the entire page with renewed organization.
As great as the YoJoe Comics Archive has been, this makes it even better. It truly is a fantastic resource and antarctica deserves a ton of praise for the hard work he’s put in keeping it up to date, especially as IDW continues to flood the market with new books.
Great stuff! Check it out for yourself right here.
As an addendum to this, he’s also added summaries to the section for G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #155.5 as well as the Hearts and Minds Ashcan promo, G.I. Joe #17, G.I. Joe: Cobra #4, and G.I. Joe: Origins #15. Check out links to all of those IDW summaries right here.
by generalsjoes | May 10, 2010 | G.I. Joe, G.I. Joe 25th Anniversary
Throughout my time on the web, I’ve met some guys who take the G.I. Joe hobby VERY seriously. I appreciate those folks who work long and hard to enrich the hobby and add to it, I think the community is much better for it.
But every once in a while it’s fun to see someone kind of mock themselves. A long time Joe fan who runs Broca Blutch is needing some cash for college, so he asked me to let folks know he is selling nearly his entire G.I. Joe collection on eBay now.
Normally, if folks ask me to do this, I don’t bother. But the guys over a Broca Blutch are unique:
- They do not hesitate to berate and make fun of themselves as G.I. Joe collectors.
- They’re buddies with a self-proclaimed “rebel blog” called Smash the State, who all pretty much hate my guts. So any time I can show that I’m the bigger person, I’ll take advantage of it.
So, anyway, check out the auction. Bid it up real high. Whether your pay or not is up to you… :shifty:

Yes, Shout! did release the full series of Sunbow cartoons last year, but for many folks, this will be the first time the full compliment of Season 2 episodes is available, and release day is tomorrow, April 27th!
Released in a twin slip-cover format with plently of awesome retro Sunbow-style art, the full second season of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero will be available everywhere for the very first time.
Shout! Factory was kind enough to slip me a copy early so I had some time to shove it in my DVD player and review it…just in time for release day. Check out the review right here.
I’m absolutely not a Sunbow guy, but watching these episodes really brought me back… and yes, the purists will be pleased to know that it made me sad to realize that Hasbro had left the Anniversary behind. Yes, even I am capable of wanting a vintage style Low Light, Lifeline, Leatherneck, Sci-Fi, and even Zarana. Who would have thought I’d ever want a freaking Zarana?
Regardless, these episodes really tripped my nostalgia trigger, and it’s good timing, too, as I head down to JoeCon in just a few days. Hopefully I can satisfy my need for nostalgia at the dealer tables. 😉
