This is pretty cool. The Cobra Special Forces Facebook page has revealed another image of the Cobra Trooper in action, and this time it’s a jungle scene showing one of the Troopers with machine gun at the ready.
Very interesting how they’re really pushing this “Cobra as Elite Military Force” angle. These images have all been very reminiscent of special ops, which is a neat twist. Of course, with the Facebook page being a Cobra page, this positive reflection does make some sense. Check out the Cobra Special Forces Facebook page, or hit up the mirrored image below.
Still showing no signs of slowing down, IDW has sent along the solicitations for August, 2012, including a slew of different G.I. Joe themed releases. All titles seem to be continuing to go strong, including some reprints and the long awaited Field Manual.

Quickly becoming one of my favorite things to check up on, the G.I. Joe: Special Ops online game has added two more familiar faces to the roster today with Lady Jaye and the Cobra Viper. Taking elements from various continuities, G.I. Joe: Special Ops seems like it’s trying to sample the best from everything. Lady Jaye wears a tactical vest and is an established hard ass, yet she totes around javelins, and wears her hair long sort of like Adrianne Palicki.
The Cobra Viper looks a lot like the Viper we all know and love, but with a distinctly Sideshow Collectibles twist. Thjey seem to be bringing a lot of very cool elements together. So the recent news about IDW streamlining their G.I. Joe releases caused me to check these solicitations with a little trepidation, but turns out if they are scaling things back at all, it’s not happening until after July. The solicitations at least still show our normal compliment of G.I. Joe related titles.
