GI Joe Club debuts Adventure Team card art

Making their worldwide debut at the G.I. Joe Convention in April, the 3 3/4″ Adventure Team is promising to make a splash with Joe collectors of every era.  So far we haven’t heard a whole lot about the specifics of the sets, but there is finally some information to share, and even a look at all the card art for the terrific looking figures!  Straight from GIJoeClub.com:

“The Adventure Team is almost here! The GIJCC will initially be offering THREE different 3 3/4-inch Adventure Team figure sets, all utilizing 25th Anniversary sculpts! Each figure comes packaged with a special accessory (vehicle, etc.) inside an “AT Mission Crate” package. Once you open the “AT Mission Crate”, you’ll find each figure on its own individual blister card. The first three sets are: ATAir Adventurer & Helicopter; AT Land Adventurer & 6-wheel ATV; Dr. “Venom”AT Commander with giant man-eating plant. And now, we are thrilled to preview all FOUR Adventure Team backing cards! Click the thumbnail to see the full preview.”

Club reveals package art for upcoming 3 3/4" Adventure Team!

For Joe fans who don’t check into the GI Joe Collectors’ Club forums, you can sometimes miss out on some nice little tidbits.  For instance, this past weekend, Lanny revealed some awesome package art for the upcoming 3 3/4″ Adventure Team product that is supposed to debut at the Convention in Rhode Island this year.
That artwork is pretty damn stunning, I have to say.
Between the Red Shadows, Action Force, Dr. Venom, and the Adventure Team, this year’s Convention is gonna be a killer on the wallet, but I’m really looking forward to it.  Check out the package art mirrored below as well.

Other tidbits from the GIJCC forums within the past few days…  according to The Commander, the Red Torches will come with some different weapon assortments in the box!  Sounds like they may not be straight-up flamethrower troopers.  Also, the inclusion of Flint and Interrogator was most likely due to a dictation from Hasbro that they include a mainstream Joe and a mainstream Cobra in the Con set.
Some very cool behind the scenes info.  Check it out, registration is free.

GIJCC Adventure Team figures available at 2010 Convention

First Class subscribers are starting to get their G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club newsletters in the mail, and while there doesn’t appear to be an update for the Convention Exclusive items, the Collectors’ Club does say that the first three Adventure Team figures will be available at JoeCon 2010!  I for one am really looking forward to these, especially the Doctor Venom.  It’s been too long…  it wasn’t specifically mentioned which three figures would be available, but the three we’ve seen images for so far are Dr. Venom, Air Adventurer w/ FANG Helicopter, and the Land Adventurer with a  Battle Blitz repaint.  Check out the gallery from the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club Panel at JoeCon last year:

Sigma 6 Celebration Day 3: The Unproduced

Often a sure sign that a toyline is in trouble is the quality of the toys we’re getting near the end of the toyline’s life.  Even great runs like the Real American Hero seemed to suffer from mixed signals and conflicting ideals in 1993 and 1994, bringing us some oddly colored and strangely themed toys that didn’t necessarily mesh with each other.  In fact, I’d argue that most of the best known action figure lines showed clear signs of their age by the time the lines faded away.  Sigma 6, though, couldn’t be farther from that, in my opinion.

Simply looking at what as still to come shows that there was a lot of life still left in the 8″ line, and it’s a damn shame that it ended when it did.  There was a lot of cool stuff left to come, and for today, I’ve decided to include some hefty galleries of figures that were in the works, but didn’t make the cut.  This includes concept art found online, pre-production items displayed at Joe Con, and some other little tidbits.  Doing this article was tough for me, as it served to be a reminder of what we didn’t get, but I think it’s worth it in the long run, and hopefully you agree.  Along with this article, I’ll also have a nice surprise at the end of this whole celebration which will tie into this article as well.  😉
