Found this gem on SuperheroHype. As if I didn’t want to see this DVD enough already!
Deadpool rocks my world. Lots of blood, lots of action, and Deadpool at his best…can’t go wrong.
“Omega Red is a bed wetter” made me laugh out loud here at work. :shifty:
I know a lot of folks know that there’s a lot of G.I. Joe info in the latest Toy Fair, but being as Resolute is where my main love affair is these days, I figured I’d post something collecting as much of that info as possible. This is all gleaned from a few different articles and interviews in the magazine. If you like the information here, support ToyFare by buying it! 😉
Most of the other information in the article is stuff we know already, but it’s always cool to see some added information from Hasbro. There are quite a few words about the movie, and it sounds like this film is going to be full of serious “over the top” action, which can be good or bad. Time will tell, I’ll wait for some footage before making a judgement on that.
So what sparked this post? These video clips from Hulk Vs. Wolverine:

Now keep in mind, I’m not even a Hulk fan…not in the least. But I’ll be damned if that doesn’t look pretty kick ass.
It was initially thought that the fifth DVD Battle Pack would be a pack focused on the ’87 Movie, and from the figure selection, it’s obvious that’s what Hasbro was planning as well. Every figure in the fifth set includes figures definitely inspired by that movie, but something changed down the line. My own personal hypothesis is that Hasbro is planning on re-releasing a commemorative version of the movie on DVD this year to coincide with the live action film, so rather than “give it away” in this set, they’re holding it to sell it as a separate piece this summer.
I know I just posted one of these a few days ago, but I saw something great enough that I had to get another one going.
Checkout SnakeEyes1975’s Captain Grid Iron custom over on the JBL Forums. Holy CRAP. He managed to take a totally forgettible character, soup him up, give him a ton of great gear and make him a reputable 25th Anniversary figure! I would have never wanted to see an actual 25th Anniversary Grid-Iron figure, but if Hasbro did one like this, it would have been one of my favorites.
Awesome work.
So…I’ve always been an unabashed Comic fan from day one. Ever since I set my eyes on that huge, oversized Treasury Edition of G.I. Joe #1, I was captivated by the rich history and unique writing style that Larry Hama managed to weave for what was essentially a children’s toy tie-in. As with every licensed property, there were several ups and downs, but for the first 4 or 5 years of the comic history, it was mostly ups. It would be tough to argue that the series in general didn’t go downhill during the 90’s, it most certainly did, for whatever reason. Whether it was Hasbro’s influence, a matter of the material just running its course, or Mr. Hama writing himself into a few corners, I’m not sure. Regardless, the multiple brainwashings, the huge focus on Snake Eyes (and tieing so many characters into his past), and other such events left a bit of a black mark on the legacy of the Marvel series.
Well, that was actually easier than I thought it would be. Got the WordPress Update wrapped up this afternoon and added a new feature while I was at it. Check over on the left sidebar, and you’ll see “Justin’s Featured Vid” and “Justin’s Random Vids”. Those are two little plugins I dug up that will stream straight from Youtube. Expect the featured vid to change from time to time, and the Random vids will just kind of pull from my Youtube library. Mostly Joe stuff, but sometimes maybe not. Who knows?
By the way, if you don’t see the videos, just make sure you’ve got the latest version of Adobe Flash installed for your particular browser…
Also working on the review/”Best Moments” of the “Best of the 80’s” DVD Battle Pack, so there’s some…well… actual content to look forward to. 😉
Thanks as always for checking out the site!
There’s a major upgrade to the WordPress software out there, and I will be doing the upgrade at some point this weekend. So if you notice any plug ins missing or other things a little wonky, that’s what’s going on. It shouldn’t take too terribly long, but wanted to make you aware just in case.
Thanks!
