Thanks to fireflyguy from HissTank.com for the intel.
Originally announced and displayed at Toy Fair in February, the deluxe Accelerator Suit Duke has accelerated some interest in Joe fans recently with the announcement of a $69.99 price tag and information about its availability at Target stores this fall. While there were a wealth of images of the Accelerator Suit Duke from Toy Fair, a video has now been posted on YouTube of the figure in action. Check out the video below!
For better or worse, another new trailer/TV spot has emerged from Latino Review for the upcoming G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA. I say for better or worse, because while the action still looks frenetic, high-paced, and awesome, we get a clear indication of what to expect from Ripcord here…I’m all for comedy relief, but not bad comedy relief. Ah, well…
Still, the trailer is fun. Check it out via Latino Review or via the YouTube embedded video below:
Thanks to Hiss Commander from the Terror Drome for the heads up!
By and large, the reaction has been raving…pretty much every review I read is stellar and positive, and I agree completely. Ever since hearing the premise for the story, I had a good feeling about it, and I was not let down. From the fast-paced first issue, straight through the twists and turns, and all the way to the biggest twist at the end, this has been a suspensful, action packed thrill ride, from beginning to end.
COBRA is given some instant credibility, a relatively unknown character in Chuckles gains some incredible depth, and in just four issues, lots of groundwork has been laid for the future. Excellent story.
I have to find it more than a little ironic that Chuckles, a guy in a Hawaiian shirt who never got any real credibility has now been the star of two great stories, both from the Devils’ Due days, and now in IDW. Just goes to show, that even the smallest “throw away” character can be a great one, if given the right chance to shine.

PRODUCTION NOW UNDERWAY FOR
G.I. JOE: A REAL AMERICAN HERO
THE COMPLETE SERIES collector’s set
YO JOE! Since 1982, DUKE, SNAKE EYES, SCARLETT and the rest of the G.I. JOE team have battled against the evil forces of COBRA to stop their bid for world domination with the creation of The M.A.S.S. DEVICE. Since then, the G.I. JOE team has faced COBRA COMMANDER, DESTRO, STORM SHADOW and the rest of the COBRA organization in head-to-head action to protect the free world from their rule. More than 25 years later, G.I. JOE has built a strong fan base of loyal followers in children and adults alike, launching countless collectible toys, comic books, animated series and an upcoming feature film.
Dark 5ythe over at the Terror Drome has posted a terrific in depth interview with one of the folks with Double Helix, who worked on the upcoming G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA video game. He asked some great questions and got some pretty interesting answers. Check the interview out right here, and I’ve also mirrored the text below the jump.
Images are showing up in various spots online for updated versions of Doctor Lewis, “Arctic Assault” Storm Shadow, and “Paris Pursuit” Baroness, including some nice accessory shots. This version of Doctor Lewis also seems to be different, as this version sports a full head of hair, while earlier pictures showed the figure bald.
Storm Shadow’s accessories are very cool. I love the jetpack, though I’m sure that little dagger goes in the gauntlet, and not his big, honking sword. Still, the figure itself looks awesome, I really hope he shows up like this at some point in the movie. Barones is cool as well, I love that she comes so stacked with weapons! It’s fine to hate the film at this point, but I honestly can’t understand how people can be talking down these toys…just because they don’t look like reproductions of your favorite figures from the 80’s doesn’t mean they aren’t great. These toys are flat-out impressive! Compare what we’re seeing here with the Indiana Jones, Star Trek, or Terminator Salvation stuff and it’s not even CLOSE. These figures blow those out of the water.
Even if I squirm the entire two hours I’m in the theater, I can rest easy knowing that the toys look absolutely incredible, and they’ll keep me going a lot longer than the film itself. Hell, look at Sigma 6…I hated much of that cartoon, yet the toys were incredible. Spy Troops and Valor Vs. Venom weren’t top shelf, yet the toys were cool. Just think about DiC, or those folks who don’t like the Sunbow stuff. Just because the cartoon (or film in this case) isn’t your cup of tea, that doesn’t mean you can’t still love the brand and the toys…just keep an open mind!
Phil from JoeReloaded.com was kind enough to let us know that he has posted a 5-page preview for the upcoming sixth issue of the main G.I. Joe title. You can see the preview here, or check out the images mirrored below!

This is the issue that everyone says finally kicks the main title into gear…it certainly starts out fairly interesting, looking forward to seeing if it keeps up the pace!
