by generalsjoes | Jan 21, 2011 | G.I. Joe, G.I. Joe: Renegades
Continuing their trend of posting the latest episodes online, The Hub has now uploaded the ninth episode of G.I. Joe: Renegades. Introducing fan favorites Zartan and the Dreadnoks, Episode 9 has the Renegade soldiers helping out a small Kansas town when the Dreadnoks take it over for their own nefarious purposes.
Check out the latest Renegades episode is nice high definition right here.

One of the masterminds behind G.I. Joe: Renegades and Transformers: Prime has signed a development deal with Hasbro Studios in a move that will keep him closely tied to Hasbro properties, and is hopefully a sign that they want to continue building upon the excellent foundations of Renegades and Prime both.
The information comes from The Wrap. Kline has been working in animation for a long time, working on some great series including Men in Black, Jackie Chan Adventures, and Starship Troopers: Roughnecks.
by generalsjoes | Jan 21, 2011 | Canadian Joe Con, G.I. Joe
The Canadian JoeCon folks have produced some awesome product over the years, and the recent Hailstorm was one of my favorites. I love the Firebat, and getting that great vehicle into the JoeCanuck universe was awesome.
A lot of folks also have a huge crush on the HATE tank as well, which is a version of the HISS done in Chrome reflective armor. Well, the HATE now has a partner! Selling exclusively on eBay, the JoeCanuck guys have produced a special limited edition “Chrome Hailstorm” vehicle!
This thing is sure to be a hot seller, so get your bids in early and often. Check it out right here.

by generalsjoes | Jan 21, 2011 | 12" Scale, G.I. Joe, Sideshow
I LOVE it. Absolutely love it. Stalker is one of my all time favorite G.I. Joe characters, and it seemed like a while since he really received any valid face time. G.I. Joe: Resolute brought him back to the forefront, and seeing a quick cameo in G.I. Joe: Renegades was a treat as well.
Sideshow Collectibles is now also bringing Stalker into the G.I. Joe roster, and is producing him much more quickly than one would have thought. Sideshow has posted a quick Stalker teaser here, and also promises to have the pre-order launched in time for the January 27th Newsletter. We’ll also get a nice product preview on January 25th during the production blog. I may just have to pre-order this one… see the image below.

We’ve known for a while that the main IDW G.I. Joe title was wrapping up it’s first “season” after issue #24, and that a likely new “season” would be catapulted onto comic shelves early in 2011. But what has remained a mystery was just how IDW was going to make this all happen.
Well, we now have a clear idea of how we’re moving from Season One to Season Two and it’s an event of monumental proportions, certainly to be felt throughout all IDW titles for months to come.
Warning! There are SPOILERS abound in this post. If you have not yet read G.I. Joe: COBRA #12, consider yourself WARNED. The rest of this story will be posted after the jump to avoid spoiling upcoming story details.

by generalsjoes | Jan 18, 2011 | G.I. Joe, G.I. Joe Q & A, G.I. Joe: Renegades
Got word from Hasbro today that they are offering a special G.I. Joe: Renegades Q & A round! Only one question per outlet, but they are willing to take questions focused on the G.I. Joe: Renegades Animated Series. Question has to be in by mid-day on Friday. Answers should be back February 7th.
I’m considering asking a question about the order of the episodes… yay or nay? Anything else anyone wants to know?

by generalsjoes | Jan 17, 2011 | G.I. Joe, G.I. Joe Toys, Pursuit of COBRA
So maybe I’m being too pessimistic. I would be thrilled to be wrong, but I’m still having a hard time figuring where this latest wave of Alpha’s fit in the release cycle. As we’ve already discussed, scores of Joe themed vehicles are hitting close out stores (which is not a good thing) and big box retailers don’t appear to be in any major rush to replenish fading Christmas stock.
I know many folks point towards a March, 2011 release date as proof that these are still coming, but if you remember the Pursuit of Cobra figure coverage, Wave 4 was also slated to hit in March, 2011, but instead hit nearly two months early. The fact that vehicles did not joint this latest of wave of figures in early release is another sign to me that we will never see this series at typical retailers.
Given what’s happened over the past month, I would not be at all surprised to see them hit Ross or other similar close out stores, but I’m not holding my breath for mainstream release. Which is why the Ashiko with Cycle Armor makes me weep. I thought we’d dodged a bullet when it got cancelled, but then resubmitted for release in 2011, but now it seems as if it’s destined for retail obscurity.
I’ve read all of Gyre-Viper’s comments on it, and I know a lot of folks aren’t crazy about it, but I just think it looks awesome. So weird and so crazy, but I love it in the G.I. Joe universe. Plus, now that we have a clear look at the filecard and we know that not only is Ashiko a bad ass in armor who drives a robot motorcycle, but he’s A DAMN NINJA.
How can anything beat that? Thanks to Gyre Viper for continually rubbing the salt in my wounds…check out the thread at HissTank.com, or the mirrored images just below.

by generalsjoes | Jan 17, 2011 | Film, G.I. Joe, G.I. Joe: The Movie
We hadn’t heard a whole lot of buzz about the supposedly upcoming sequel to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, but today, the Hollywood Reporter sheds at least a little bit of light.
They report that indeed, the sequel is moving forward as planned with a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and that Lee Byung-hun is set to reprise his role as Storm Shadow. None of this is especially interesting…these facts were reported quite a while ago. The interesting part is the following line, directly from Hollywood Reporter:
“Lee will head to the U.S. to begin shooting in June, with the film slated to open in the summer of 2012.”
I don’t believe we’d heard a concrete shooting date of June mentioned before. I know they’d talked about a summer 2012 release, but I honestly thought that was a little ambitious. I still think it’s a little ambitious. Still no director, still no word about Channing Tatum, Dennis Quaid, Christopher Ecclestein, Rachel Nichols, Sienna Miller, Ray Park, or most importantly (in my mind), Joseph Gordon-Leavitt. I think most of these folks signed contracts for a multi-film deal, but given Leavitt’s recent critical and financial success with Inception, it would be interesting to see how he reacts to being thrust back into potential B-Movie cheese.
Looks like the next 18 months are going to be an interesting roller coaster ride as usual. Being a Joe fan is never boring.
