First confirmed receipt of Figure Subscription Service figures by RagingSpoon

And kudos to him for obliging the Club’s request to keep the surprise!  RagingSpoon over on HissTank.com is reporting that he has received his first installment of the Figure Subscription Service figures!

The G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club requested in the beginning that folks who receive these figures not announce who they are so the surprise can be maintained for others, and RagingSpoon is complying with that request.  However, collectors should start  watching their mailboxes, because they are inbound.

See the thread on HissTank.com.

Hot Toys to get G.I. Joe: Retaliation license for 2013?

Well, color me surprised.  This one certainly came out of left field, but according to the Hot Toys Community Facebook group, Hot Toys has the G.I. Joe: Retaliation license for 2013.  Hot Toys makes premium action figures in the 12″ scale, and I’ve spent quite a bit of time lamenting the fact that I can’t afford the excellent Avengers figures that have been coming out throughout 2012.

I may have to rethink some of my financial priorities going into 2013…these could be some insanely cool toys.  These 12 inch figures typically retail for anywhere from $150 – $200 and have amazing actor likenesses and some incredibly uniform and accessory detail.

Big thanks to Todd from Kokomo Toys for the heads up.  Check out the confirmation for yourself right here.

EDIT – Be aware this is just a Hot Toys fan page, this has not been officially confirmed as of yet.  They seem to have their finger on the pulse of Hot Toys releases, so I think the information is still solid, but don’t take this as official confirmation.

EDIT #2 – The Image on Facebook apparently comes from the “Hot Toys Holiday Book” which is an official publication from Hot Toys, which means this information can be considered official.

Thanks to Jay Cochran on Twitter and EopieHerder on Twitter for educating my Hot Toys deficient mind on the particulars.  I can assure everyone I’ll get much more educated on them in the coming months.  🙂

First report of shipping notice for GIJCC Figure Subscription Service!

We’ve all received the emailed status updates about the Figure Subscription Service, but we now have our first actual report of a shipping notice received!

GeneralsJoes Twitter friend OB1Knobby reports that he has gotten notification from Fed Ex that the first installment for the FSS will arrive at his home on Thursday.  To the best of my knowledge, this is the first confirmed shipping notice received for an FSS shipment.

Start watching those mailboxes!  We will soon discover who the first two figures shipped are.  Huge thanks to OB1Knobby for the heads up.

Reminder – Take the GeneralsJoes “Re-Release” Survey!

It’s fallen off the main page, so I’m figuring folks have probably forgotten, but if you haven’t done it yet, please consider taking a few moments to fill out the GeneralsJoes survey reporting which PoC/30th figured you’d like to see re-released in single pack form.

It’s nothing official, but I figure if I can get some data together perhaps even to present at Toy Fair, the more responses the better!  Check out the survey at the link below:

If you love G.I. Joe, you need to own the IDW COBRA: The Last Laugh Hardcover

Over the past several years, I don’t think I’ve talked to anyone who isn’t a fan of the IDW Publishing Cobra series.  This landmark comic, kicked off a couple of years ago by Mike Costa, Christos Gage and Antonio Fuso, showed readers that G.I. Joe could get dark and gritty in a way that it really never had before.  The film noir writing and artistic style blended together perfectly with a nearly flawless granular look at a single undercover G.I. Joe agent trapped behind enemy lines.

If Brandon Jerwa brought Chuckles to the public consciousness with his work on the Devils’ Due Frontline book, Costa, Gage, and Fuso permanently etched him into the G.I. Joe mythology, weaving a fascinating and intriguing tale of how a single agent worked his way within the vicious underbelly of Cobra and nearly brought the operation to its knees.

Amazon.com has a pre-order posted for a fantastic looking hardcover, listing December 17th as the release date.  Christos Gage has been pretty public on Twitter, and he suspects these hardcover editions will be under-ordered….so if you even think you might want this book.  Pre-order it.  Click the banner below to grab this great edition at a great price, and support GeneralsJoes.com while you’re at it.  It is currently at a fantastic price as well, saving you nearly $25 off of the cover price!

I also want to personally thank everyone who has purchased something through my Amazon Affiliates link.  It has been a very successful endeavor so far, and I greatly appreciate the support by my readers!

Latest JoeDeclassified JDSO Podcast is online and fighting dinosaurs!

Without much new merchandise to swoon over, it’s important to get familiar with G.I. Joe’s history as well as some of the cooler offshoots of the G.I. Joe brand, and the latest episode of the JDSO Podcast does that in spades!  We get some awesome insight about the Jurassic Park line that may or may not ever come to pass as well as some great intel about shared parts between G.I. Joe, Stargate, James  Bond Jr, and many other toylines of the 80’s and 90’s.

Also, one of the rarest pieces of the late 90’s comes to light with a great look at the Desert Headquarters exclusive figures that were slated to come out in ’98, but were lost to the “sands of time” so to speak.

Check out the latest episode on the JDSO Podbean page, and make sure you hit JoeDeClassified.com to see all the fantastic images to go along with the episode details.  This is one you don’t want to miss!

USA Today features first look at IDW’s G.I. Joe: Special Missions

Good friend of GeneralsJoes and writer for USA Today Brian Truitt took some time to speak with Chuck Dixon, current writer of IDW’s G.I. Joe title, and the guy who is going to be headlining the G.I. Joe: Special Missions title next year.

As the flagship G.I. Joe title retools slightly for a more public face in 2013, the Special Missions title will focus on the more specialized, military operations on a much smaller scale.  With Scarlett and Mainframe as two team leaders, we get a peek at the nitty gritty G.I. Joe world that we all know and love.

Along with this interview, preview pages were also posted, showing a peek into the intial release of Special Missions.  So far we’re looking good!  Check out the USA Today interview right here, and the preview pages below.

Comics Alliance kills it with more Social Media infused G.I. Joe Operatives

We all know the fine folks at IDW and Fred Van Lente are bringing a somewhat new G.I. Joe world to us in 2013, and one member of that team is Hashtag.  Billed as an “embedded blogger”, Hashtag fits in with the current social media-infused communications world.

Over on Comics Alliance, notable Joefan Chris Sims and artist Chris Haley came up with some other roster additions to this new Social Media friendly G.I. Joe team.

The results, as you might suspect, are hilarious.

Check it out at ComicsAlliance.com.
