As Americans around the country take time to “celebrate” Memorial Day, it’s important to remember exactly what the holiday means and try to find the best way to honor the memories of those who inspired our country, and thus, inspired the world.
I’m one of those folks who actually doesn’t know anyone personally who died in a war, though, like all Americans, my life was profoundly affected by their sacrifice.
Let’s all take at least a few moments today to remember what the day is really about.
And to all of those currently serving our country, no matter where you are or what capacity, all I can say is “thank you”.
I’ve had my own personal Facebook page for a while now, and have been toying with getting the site on it’s own page as well, but didn’t want to do it until I could do it right.
And in light of recent security worries about Facebook, I figured this was the perfect time to reveal even more about myself than ever before. Whatever you do, don’t click on the link called “Bank Account Information” in my profile. Trust me, it’s nothing important. :shifty:
I’ve created a GeneralsJoes “Fanpage” which will automatically feed all of my WordPress blog posts straight into it, and it appears to work fairly seamlessly. Eagle eyed readers probably saw me tearing my hair out tonight while I tested it. I’m using a pretty cool plug in, but you can only test it by actually publishing a post. D’oh.
Anyway. Check out the GeneralsJoes Fan Page right here, and there should now be all sorts of funky little Facebook buttons all over the site, so you can tell me how awesome I am. You can also click the spiffy page badge below. GeneralsJoes Promote Your Page Too
So, as many of you might know, I’m a big time Halo fan. The funny thing is, I don’t play the game multiplayer much, and I actually don’t play the game religiously at all. I play each one straight through, and that’s pretty much that. But I absolutely love the Halo universe…I’ve played each game, I’ve read the paperback books, and I really dig the whole Halo/Covenant/Forerunner conflict.
Well, yesterday IGN posted the best April Fool’s Day prank ever. Behold, the trailer for the upcoming Halo live action film! Bask in the glory!
For the past several months, popular online G.I. Joe archive site The Joe Index has been offline due to issues with their webhost. Well, I’m happy to report that the Joe Index is back online, under a new banner, now as TheGIJoeIndex.com.
While not quite complete, there is a wealth of great information with pictures, listings, year by year organization and a very unique interface. If you’ve been a fan of the site and have been missing it, you can now add it back to your favorites! If you haven’t checked it out, take this chance to do so, it’s another great resource. When it comes to this time of year, I find myself having a lot less free time, for obvious reasons…being a father of two young children, certain things take priority during the holiday season, and honestly updating my G.I. Joe website isn’t necessarily on top of the list. 😉
Over the past two days, we’ve had several Christmas “celebrations” more caloric intake than I care to admit, plenty of family time and lots of love and adoration from my two beautiful little girls during a time in our family’s “real life” that could use a bit of an uptick.
The commercialization of Christmas goes overboard, of course, and the celebration is purely about being close with the ones you love, but there’s something about the look in your four-year-old’s eyes when they see the tree first thing Christmas morning that is unlike anything else that happens that year. It’s not just the “stuff”, it’s the spirit. I do regret that I haven’t had more time in the past 72 hours to update the site, but hope to rectify that a bit this coming week, and now that the holiday rush has slowed down, I foresee more opportunitys for more content in the coming days.
In case anyone’s not aware…I’m sure you may have noticed there haven’t been any real updates to the front page in a few days. I’ve been a little bit busy…
At approximately 12:53am yesterday, my wife gave birth to a happy, healthy little girl named Allison. She weighed in at 7 lb, 10 oz and everyone is doing great. We are now back home and I’ve got 2 weeks off, so expect more site stuff than you could ever want. :shifty:
Well, probably not THAT much site stuff, I am spending as much time as I possibly can with the new addition and the rest of the family, but I’ve gotten some Rise of COBRA stuff that I haven’t reviewed yet, and I’ve got a few other neat things to cover, so things should pick back up.
